Might as well not argue with him Baptist, you'll never win. I've noticed no matter what anyone says, he disagrees with EVERYTHING and that no one is right according to him. Some people are set in their ways and beliefs, just let them stay that way, and pray for them, that God opens their eyes and heart. Cause anyone who argues and disagrees with the Bible, the TRUE and ONLY word of God, they need prayer, they want to basically call it a lie. No disrespect intended at all towards him, and I"m not just saying this about him, but many that are the same way. So I'm not "calling him out" or "attacking" him or whatever, I'm speaking of many different people that are the same way. Nor am I saying that he's calling God's word a lie, but some do, just to make that clear. We all have our own beliefs and all, just pray is all we can do. Also, if someone's spirit/soul doesn't go straight to heaven, then how can Jesus be seated on the right hand side of God the Father? If the soul/spirit doesn't to stright to heaven, then tell me this, are you saying God's word is a lie? Because if the soul/spirit didn't go straight to heaven, then Jesus would still be among the dead. Which we KNOW isn't the case, for He lives within us. In our heart, spirit, and soul. He in I and I in Him. remember 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Anyways, peace, and God bless.

The scriptures that you gave where it says that the spirit shall return to God who gave it, in the Greek, the word spirit actually means "breath"(breath of life). So when we die, our life (breath) goes back to God and our bodies perish in the ground. This verse is not saying that our souls go back to heaven, but just the life that God gave us. We are not aware of anything when we die.. "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." Eccles 9:10.. See here, this scriptures says we have no knowledge, no wisdom, no nothing when we die..

What is a soul? According to the Bible, all a soul is is a living being.. the body + the breath of life from God=the soul. So when we die, our breath goes back to God, and our bodies perish in grave therefore causing us to no longer exist until Christ wakes us up...If that makes sense. I can provide a slew of scriptures showing that.

Also see this, "Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of ****ation." John 5:28-29. Jesus says here that the dead will rise when they hear His voice...they can't already be with Him if He has to call them from the grave. I will add more after your response.

Our soul is our thoughts, memories, emotions etc...
When our breath returns to God a part of us goes with it, our soul, returns back to God.
Re: John 5:28.. speaking of a bodily resurrection of course. Which is also possible if the soul or breath of God is sent back to the person and their body rises. That's how a person who is resurrected is able to retain all their memories and their personality etc and who they are, because the soul is never destroyed by death it lives on (Matt 10:28). So the question to ask is, where does the soul go after death if it is not destroyed? And what about people who are cremated and are nothing but a pile of ashes, how are they able to rise?

HAHAH! Then why are you on here reading what I put on here? Lol.. That is the duty of a REAL Christian..to reach out to those who are lost.. in any way shape or form...either thru the internet, in person, or over the phone.. Stop being bitter.. either get off the chat or put something on here that is Biblical and worth reading.. Apparently.. you cannot defend why you believe what you believe.

Hey you are absolutely right.. pple are stuck in their ways and do call the word of God a lie.. such as you did in your former post.. You supplied nothing Biblically that said that we are in a holding place when we die... The scriptures that you provided stated the obvious, such as.. if you do not believe in Christ then you will die, and if you do believe in Christ, you will live.. Where did it say that we go to a holding place? That is not Bible!! Stop perverting the scriptures to fit what you want them to be.

Why would Jesus need to call the dead from the grave if they are already with Him right now? Does that make ANY sense? No it does not..Matter of fact, it is pure falsehood.

okay that was totally uncalled for and harsh to say to him, he ALWAYS backs up what he says with the Bible. Also, he knows what be believes and stands by it all the time. The point is, while it's good to be on here doing what Christians are to do, it's best to do it in person. Baptist is a great guy, very blessed and gifted. He isn't bitter at all, and you have no right to tell him to "either get off the chat or put something on here that is Biblical and worth reading". What he says IS worth reading, and anyone can be on this site, we all the same right.Baptist is a great blessing to others, there's no need for your attitude and disrespect on here. You can say what you did in a nicer and more respectful manner. Besides that, you haven't read the things that person has said on other threads and all, they pretty much say, along with others, that if you don't agree with them and what they believe then you're wrong, well that's not right or true. The only for sure facts and truth is the word of God which is the Bible, lets all just respect others views and beliefs, weather we agree or disagree with them. They have their own right and freedom of religion, belief, etc. and we have ours. We are to love one another, support one another, and lift one another up in prayer. Lets do that, and the Bible also says to do ALL things out of LOVE.

Actually, um.. did you read your friends post? Address him.. I just stated the obvious.. he said that do things that involved not using a key board... and I stated that he didnt have to be on here since he is perturbed by my views..Obviously... Period.. We are discussing biblical views and if he isnt going to say anything regarding the topic, then why post anything at all? Your friend acted like a child.. Address him, not me. As far as respecting ppls views, that has not been an issue until Baptist said something childish and bitter sounding..

I was addressing everyone is this, exspecially when I said "The only for sure facts and truth is the word of God which is the Bible, lets all just respect others views and beliefs, weather we agree or disagree with them. This site, these threads, and the chatters here, are all for support, answers, understanding, etc. I wasn't saying just you, sorry if that's how it came across. I just know Baptist, and he's a great person and all, that's why I said what I did about him. Anyways, no hard feelings, God bless!

This is totally absurd why do we post threads just to generate argument and hull abuses on each others?
Do we have reasonable christians in here?

Remeber Jesus said many are called (also in here in CC) but few are choosen?

Change for the better people, we read all this post in this thread and miss why it was posted or what all of you are urguing about.
Personally i came to make a post coz thae topic seem good just to find war and rumours of war in here.
This is un understandable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one's arguing on here, but you have no room to go off on others, you're the one that was arguing about things on another thread. there was a simple misunderstanding on here, but it was taken care of, and no one's upset or anything. There's no hard feelings, no arguing, or anything, if you're going to read something like that please read ALL of it, the "conflict" or misunderstanding was resolved and we're all in love, respect, and fellowship with one another. There most certainly isn't any "war or rumors of wars'' on here. Just wanted to clear that up is all, God bless.

The context of everything in Ecclesiastes is given in the most common phrase in the book... "under the sun". The dead do not know anything about what is going on here... not where they are.

Debate the topic, don't attack the person. Simply put. You guys have the habit of killing the messenger for their message. And calling me childish is the pot calling the kettle black. If someone disagree with you, accept it and get over it, instead of personally attacking them.

I don't see any non-believers posting in this forum, so your point is void. If there were, you would probably chase them off before having any sort of ministry to them.

Yes, it refers to their existance in this world, they don't know what goes on here on earth after death. Unless God reveals it to them of course from heaven.

Here's a website which gives the verses suporting this idea that the soul sleeps , there's only two, in Ecclesiastes, and heaps in the rest of the bible.
http://web.globalserve.net/~bumblebee/ecclesia/soulslep.htm

The most convincing one for me is the ones in Revelation.

In Revelation you have the souls under the alter who had been slain for the cause of Christ. They are awake and aware, they cry out "How long, O Lord Holy And True, before you judge and avenge our blood?"

That is conscious not sleep.

wow man are you serious? You totally just contridicted yourself, changed your story, view, and opinoin on this. Before you said "The dead do not know anything about what is going on here... not where they are.". Okay so you claim that they don't know what's going on here, granted that's true, BUT okay for them to know what's going on where they are (heaven or hell) then they can't be "sleeping". Before you said they weren't in heaven or hell, so if they aren't, then how can they know what's going on where they are? I mean if they're just "floating" around somewhere, not in heaven or hell then how could they know anything at all? They wouldn't even know where they are or anything, so yeah that's confusing. For them to be aware of and know what's going on, they MUST know where they are, so that means, they are either in heaven or hell.

hey Stand,

I did not contradict myself at all. There is a third alternative.. the intermediate state of the dead.

Hades is the realm of departed spirits (ie, the dead) awaiting the end of time, the resurrection, and judgment.

The wicked dead are in torment (ie, tartarus) while the righteous dead are in paradise (ie, Abraham's bosom).

The souls under the altar were in paradise.

The dead are aware of their situation, but cannot know what is going on on the earth.

I have come to notice that ALOT of Christians have this belief that as soon as you die, you go to where you need to go (heaven or hell). When I have attended funerals, the preacher always says "they are in a better place.." or "they have crossed over". But the Bible speaks differently in regards to the dead. The Bible teaches that the dead know nothing and are still in the graves. No one goes to hell or heaven until judgement day. Tell me your thoughts on this and I will provide scriptures to back this up. Thanks
One thing that you have to remember is that God created time thus He exists outside of time. That is why scripture says that one day to God is AS IF one thousand years to man. God is eternal, time has absolutely no bearing on God what so ever.

God is also a spirit. We were made in God's image thus we too are also a spirit although housed within a body of flesh. Keeping this mind you must understand that when we die, while our fleshly bodies may stay here, our spirits move on into eternity, we are no longer constrained by the natural laws of time.

The real question is "when does eternity begin for a human spirit when it dies? Immediately after death OR (for a believer) at the moment Christ raptures the church?" This we do not really know however, you can be rest assured that either way, the very next thing a human spirit that is saved will experience is to be with the Lord and it occurs as if no time (if any) lapsed at all... because it now exists outside of time.

In turn, the next thing an unsaved soul will experience is judgment either hell or the great white throne...
