Everything the Lord said in the new testament was for all of us to follow, not only part of what He said.
This is a wrongful outlook on that scriptures if you believe we are only to follow part of what He said, and He made this evident in the great commission;

Matthew 28:16-20

The Great Commission

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Why is everyone assuming that I do not put my faith in Christ alone???!!!

Because you are exalting laws and not Jesus Christ. You are proclaiming we must do something more than what Jesus tells us to do: BELIEVE.

Philippians 2:13 says: For it is God which works out in you both to will and to do ofHis good pleasure. Do you believe this, brother? That God is completing what He started? That He alone is the Author & Finisher of our faith?

We can do nothing but believe Jesus. We cannot change ourselves, we cannot create in us a clean heart, we cannot make ourselves holy, we cannot fulfill all the laws. We can only believe that Jesus paid it all and let Him have His way in our lives.

Does grace mean that I am free to sin and live recklessly? God forbid! When we realize the grace that is offered to us in Christ Jesus, we are liberated in our souls to follow Him gladly and thankfully. Any man or woman who genuinely understands the grace of Jesus Christ has found that they are set free from sin and shame and can live with a pure heart because of Jesus Christ. :)

I take it you view scripture from the M.A.D. perspective.

I am sorry for sounding extreme but for me we have to study the whole word of God and read it and understand it.

If I claim that I am not an American how can I tell you that President Obama and Obama-care is wrong? I don’t live there and it got nothing to do with me. Why would God waste His time in presenting us with all these verses for Israel if we are not grafted in there. Wouldn’t it be a waste of time to read it?

James 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

James 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

back to the legalist fall back verse.

Read the whole book. James is speaking of people who CLAIM to have faith, but never has trusted God a day in their lives..

Not to people who HAVE true faith, who would actually prove their faith with their works.

James 2:18
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Do you even know what this means? Paul was saying that it was evident Christ Jesus was working in him and that's why Paul had faith. In other words, Paul was saying, "Jesus has taken full control of my life and that's why I believe." Do you understand?

Paul said Jesus was controlling him. Paul said Jesus was working in him. Paul said his carnal life was crucified with Christ and that he no longer lived but that Jesus was alive in him. Paul said the life which he was living in the flesh he lived through THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD (Jesus' faith) who loved him. Jesus controlled Paul's life. That is grace. The freedom to let Jesus control your life while you rest in His faith that He will complete what He started.

I'm telling you, Jesus Christ has taken control of my life and has faith in Himself that He's going to finish the work He started in me. He has made me to believe that. I know that Jesus made the wind and the sea obey Him... and He has made me to obey Him as well. That's why I believe! Because of the WORKS OF JESUS CHRIST THAT HTHE LORD IS PERFORMING IN ME.

That did not answer my question.

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

Oops. My error. That was the book of James.

Nevertheless, it still stands that either Jesus Christ gets all the glory for being the Lord of our lives or we ignore the Atonement and maintain that we must do more.

1Co 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Well regardless of the hostility in this thread I want to say marry Christmas early to all of you because in all honesty I am simply full of the Christmas spirit and I just need to share it to who needs it most and this thread certainly needs a cup of cheer♥

You are basing doctrine on one verse, what do you do with these?

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

No such thing as faith alone. True faith works, because it trusts the thing it has faith in.

If you do not truly trust in something, you would never do anything. That is what james is saying.

Don;t be like the ones who say a person who claims to have faith in God would reject everything God says. has any faith in God at all..

I could do with a cup of cheer, I like Courvoisier myself.

Jesus should get all the credit for what we do, for without the Lord our God we could do nothing. Out of that love for Him we are to show the same respect back to Him by obeying what He told us to do.
Jesus makes it clear that if you deny to follow His commands, and deny to help others, you deny Him......

Love is calling, "Come unto Me, oh and I will give you rest."
