oh, d, your lovely thread. (you are doing a good job managing things, tho :) )

i was thinking this morning of how we tend to see Christ's birth mostly through Luke's account.
but i read John 1 and 1 John 1, and i appreciate the glimpse given there about the Word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Jn 1:1)

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life—
(1 Jn 1:1)

just that glimpse of God's consistency...and i'm always so touched that in 1 Jn. he says
heard...seen with our eyes...looked at and touched...
it was real! the Word...the Lord Jesus in human flesh!
*happy sigh* :)

Amen to this as well and I agree....we tend to put Christ in a nice little neat box sometimes while forgetting all of the scripture that points directly as Christ!

by definition "faithful brothers and sisters in Christ" obey Yhvh, just like a soldier obeys his commander. neither of them "TRIES TO" obey. they simply do obey. (remember, not "hearers" are saved, but "doers" ... "doers" .. of the Word -- after all everybody may hear, even demons and nazis and republoicns and buddhsts , but only a few DO what Jesus says to do .... )

and Jesus said "the commandments are NOT BURDENSOME" (i.e. they're not hard to do !!!!!!(and i can vouch for HIS WORD - IT IS TRUE- HIS COMMANDMENTS are not burdensome.... after decades i can say HE NEVER SAID TO DO SOMETHING I COULDN'T DO, never, no never)

likewise , the 7000 that never bent their knee to baal, THEY OBEYED.. otherwise, they bent their knee to baal like everyone else did.(like almost everyone today does)
Jesus also rewards those who are FAITHFUL over a FEW things......Few does not mean all!

if someone is an idolator, they are not faithful over anything. likewise, if they are greedy. or liars. or adulterers.
see,
only the pure in heart will see God and heaven.
so far, in decades, i have seen only /less than 12 who are faithful at all to God, in the USA. greeed takes precedence to Him in most lives. willingly and admittedly. (when i ask them, they admit it).

no sin nor sinfulness is allowed in heaven. nothing that pollutes in any way. nothing evil. nothing bad. nothing.

We can all agree on how fearfully and wonderfully we are made. A single cell proclaims the infinite creative ability of God.

This is a quote from Sundays sermon by Pastor Rock Dilliman but I find Biblical truth in it.

"God's transforming work in and through our hearts involves both pain and joy- and usually in that order. Jesus didn't come to make us temporarily happy; He came to make us eternally holy!"

Amen and like the bible states...HE learned to be obedient by the things which he suffered!

Ephesians 4:32 - And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Amen to this one as well.....This was the instructions given to the Church which was located at Ephesus and is exactly how church members and true believers are to treat one another.....!

no, but what i mean is if someone is faithful in a few things, even 'one' pointed out - the widow trusting and relying on Yahweh for all her livelihood when giving all her life savings in the offering for service to Yahweh -
she was not just faithful in that one thing,
but in a very real and necessary way , also faithful in not doing all those / or any other/ sinful things. A true faithfulness in a life devoted to Yahweh, not just part time, and not dishonoring Him in other ways as if that was possible to do and still be called faithful in anything.

While I understand what you are saying I will also say that NO one can be completely faithful in ALL things...there was only one and His name is JESUS..EVEN DANIEL who had not one recorded sin prayed for forgiveness of his sins.....There is not ONE just man upon the earth that does good and sins not. Jesus said if you fail in the least point of the law you fail the whole law and are guilty of the whole law......each person has those things that they are faithful over and those things that they struggle with and LIKE PAUL said...the things that he stumbled with kept him from being lifted up above measure....I am not saying that we should not try to walk as faithful as we can and I am for sure not saying that ANYONE is above sin....IF WE SAY that we have NO SIN we are deceived and the truth is not in us....ATH THE SAME TIME he is faithful and just to forgive us of our sin when we confess that we have sinned.....There is a fine line for sure!

For sure you and I are "brothers in arms". "Sons of thunder lightning hail and high winds" for sure. Never back down from God's Word! The Bible isn't just our sword but a "desert eagle" "Barrett light 50" "MG32" all rolled up in one package.

re above '... a fine line... ' ?

this is going to take time, and probably several posts at least, (not necessarily here).

where the logic of not being able to not sin for believers/followers/ ekklesia born again in Jesus came from is unknown(here),
but
it is not in the Bible. yes, obviously (as everyone has memorized), all are sinners, and whoever says they have not sinned is a liar.

the rest of Scripture seems to be forgotten.

Jesus did not say "you must be perfect" to disciples who were half-hearted , unsure of following Him, undecided (at the time), (REMEMBER later disciples who did not want to be perfect WALKED AWAY FROM JESUS saying what HE SAID was TOO HARD?)

interjection: what did God say to Cain about sin crouching at the door, and taking power over it? (and later to others?).

God told His people in the OT that "you must be holy(set apart) because I AM HOLY(SET APART)",

He did not say "try to be". nor did He give an excuse not to be, not in the old nor in the new testament= no where is there an excuse to sin in the Scriptures; but there are very very severe warnings to those who cause anyone else (especially little ones) to sin(stumble even).

like i said, this will take some time. realize that to take all of God's Word, and not part of it, is what Jesus said we must do. don't memorize , quote, or try to use one part or parts of it, to disavow other parts. Jesus' Body is not disjointed, nor is His Word.

You missed the point of the whole post bro......There is not one man/woman that 100% of the time 24/7 every minute of every hour of every day that walks completely according to the word and will of God.....ONLY JESUS! That is the point bro.
