Hey Everyone,

After taking inspiration from a political animal in another thread (no kidding... the political animal in question was a woodchuck), I thought we might take a more democratic approach to the Singles Forum.

What kinds of subjects and discussions would you like to see here? Do you have a preference as to how you would like to see subjects presented in the forum? (Such as... polls, general questions, "take the mic, share your story & pass it around", etc.)

I was going to make this just a regular thread but I thought a poll would be helpful (please give me a few minutes to come up with one) even though I know it will be incomplete in comparison to all the answers there could be.

This site has blessed us enough to provide us our very OWN singles forum, so what do you all want to see happen to continue to make this a positive, encouraging place? Maybe you have often wanted to write some threads yourself, but have never tried and are unsure of how to go about it? Many of us would be happy to help out if you care to PM your topic to us and tell us how we can help you formulate your idea.

For anyone familiar with my threads in particular, I recently had a wonderful Christian friend ask me why I haven't written as many serious threads in quite some time. The truth is, I have a notebook with, at last count, 6 1/2 pages of thread ideas (writing is a hobby of mine) with topics ranging from asking people How Competitive They Are to very heavy things like Dealing with Past Sexual Abuse Within Relationships.

However, when I write serious threads, I know my beginning posts are usually much longer than what anyone wants to read. I'm trying to work on a way to abbreviate that, but I always approach it like an academic term paper--you have to first set a foundation with the audience as to why the topic is even worth talking about. I also know that talking about some subjects will be uncomfortable, resulting in a thread that took an hour to write... usually disappearing in less than 15 minutes.

So, dear friends... Now is the time to share your input!! I encourage you to please participate in making the Singles Forum more awesome than ever! Please don't just check boxes in the poll (even though it's anonymous and multiple choice)--I NEVER write just to write (which is why I still don't write blogs.) My goal is always PARTICIPATION and DISCUSSION, and nothing makes me happier than to see a wide range of people reply to the threads in an uplifting, respectful manner.

Please grant us the privilege of telling us what things would peak your interest and make you not only want to read about the subject, but also choose to answer as well.

P.S. I am putting my name out as someone who would be happy to help others write threads if they have questions. If anyone else would also be willing to do that, please say so in your post so that anyone here who wants help writing a thread can pick a "Thread-Writing Buddy" to PM and ask for help. :)

Again, please give me a bit to write the poll... and thank you very much for your participation. If you've ever thought the forum was "boring" or "doesn't have enough interesting threads," now is the time to help change that.

for the most part I like all the threads we have here...they're funny, thought provoking and a great means for "breaking the ice" as no one owns a polar bear I think! Anywho, seoul my goal is going to be to set people up in the single forums! Let us tear down the single walls and be cupids to all :p

LOL, you'll see why it took so long, Mr. Smarty Pants! :)

Mo, GREAT IDEA!! I forgot to list "Cupid/MatchMaking" as one of the options and as I said, I couldn't cover everything in the poll... so take note, everyone... Be sure to list your own additions in your posts, please!

I don't believe that's an option, sir.

Could you please add this Kim? Along with none of the above?
Kenthomas is on a one-way, webbed-footed waddle... to an old-fashioned duck-billed smack-down.

Keep it up, Mister, and you might just find yourself tarred and feathered. :)

Honestly, I feel like the Singles Forum has been great, and it's been healing for me. We've been fairly supportive of each other, and I feel like we can talk about (ALMOST) anything here.

In a way, I feel like when we DO talk about actually being single in our lives, sometimes it's a bit tense because of gender wars and people misinterpreting things, assuming things, taking people's statements out of proportion, etc. and I think it's something we as individuals need to work on. That's not a site problem that's a heart problem and a lack of looking before they leap.

I do like the thought provoking threads in here, and I've made one or two. But I also like the lightheartedness, it's what makes this part of the site different than everything else. We already have enough seriousness in the other threads. Good lord, we have seriousness everywhere on this site. There is a time and a place for everything, though, and we should feel free to be lighthearted or thought-provoking, or both at the same time. :)

I like the assorted variety of threads in the Singles forum. This place has been a healing for me too. Perhaps, as lil pointed out, we need to work a little on our tolerance levels. We have to be more understanding of -
1) Newbies who sometimes dig up dead threads
2) Gender-specific threads (and not always interpret them as chauvinism or feminism)
3) Be more patient when replying to threads asking for dates/partners

Another important point - we have to mend our broken down fence. Can we have a fund-raiser for this? I can perform some tricks.

I've been told, more than once, by various individuals, that this is not a dating site. Actually, I've been told a lot of things.
