Might wanna get started working on it then... A certain guy might not wait forever. ;)

In other news, every time I see this thread title I'm reminded of a saying my pastor's wife has. She says, "He who tooteth his own horn, it shall be tooted." Sometimes you gotta toot it for it to be tooted at all, yah?

*shoves jokingly* Ha ha very funny. XD I can honestly say I wasn't expecting marriage jokes so early. XDDD

ANYWAY. I guess I just don't have all the traditional qualities you'd find in the 50's home maker. I can't cook, don't clean much, but I am willing to learn. So at least they're something.

While my ornery side agrees  and I understand your humor I could not help but point out the errors of our logic here (yes, OUR logic), and believe me.....I love a good truck!

1 John 2:15-17
- Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

[h=2]Genesis 2:18 - 24[/h] And Jehovah God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him............
Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Not "made he a truck, and brought it unto the man". Truck or no truck, we are not meant to be alone therefore, the truck does NOT trump the wife! Or husband in my case ;) Now a Harley is debatable!

I really hope that didn't happen to Tourist and JL. Ow.
I thought that it did. Not by accident though! Revenge for a disagreement in the Bible discussion forum.
Jesus Lives was carrying Tourist for her early morning workout, as she then pretended to trip. ;)

Just because God said something of Adam does not make it true for everyone. If you apply that logic across the board...

God directly anointed a man leader of the Isrealites. Therefore, we are all expected to lead Isreal from captivity.
God, through Samuel, anointed a man king. Therefore, all men must be kings.
God told one man to not mourn at all when He took his wife from him. Therefore, we are not to mourn at all if loved ones are taken from us.

We are NOT commanded to take wives or husbands, simply because God decided to make a mate for Adam. Paul makes this quite explicit in his letters to the Corinthians. Either that IS the case, or Paul, and his writings, are NOT the Holy Spirit-inspired Word of God.

Just sayin'.

(Maybe now I use the phrase just because I know it annoys Angie. *smirk* )

I did not state that we are commanded to take on a spouse nor did I state anything about rules across the board, I used a reference to the subject at hand (a gentleman desiring a wife someday) taken directly from the Bible. Bottom line, God saw a void within the man so he made a woman for him and designed each according to His purpose, period.

Yes, Paul does address the issue - both sides of the coin..........
1 Corinthians 7:1-2 Now concerning the matters about which you wrote:*“It is good for a man not to have sexual relations with a woman.”*2*But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
6-9 *6 Now as a concession,*not a command, I say*this.*7*I wish that all were*as I myself am. But*each has his own gift from God,*bone of one kind and one of another. 8*To the unmarried and the widows I say that*it is good for them*to remain single*as I am.*9*But if they cannot exercise self-control,*they should marry. For it is better to marry than to burn with passion.

Considering this guy desires a wife someday, I'm pretty sure he's not a "Paul" therefore, he (they gentleman desiring a wife, not every man in existence) SHOULD to take a wife someday!

The difference with those examples is God didn't make Saul king and say, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and become king of Israel." Yet, the creation of Eve is cited for being the reason marriage exists for all humans (generalized). But I get what you're saying.

Even though most newlyweds are excited to consummate their marriage...this post seemed inappropriate and reflective of the objectification/sexualized culture we live in.
