I wanted to be like Annette Funicello, when she was on the Mickey Mouse club.

Later I wanted to be like the first female jockey Mary Bacon.

Early MacGyver or late MacGyver? Early Mac was cool, but in later years... well... he got a little lazy. >.>

(lol)
Well, I liked all of it, but yeah, the old ones are mostly the best ones.

I thought she was bossy and cranky. ^_^

But hey... she did have a soft side under that armor.
You should watch Helga on the Couch.

She is generally ignored by everyone, and is misunderstood. But she has a caring side she hides in her grumpy exterior :p
Im on a LoZ forum, and pretty much every girl Im friends with on there has a crush on Link :p

I did once like Adult Zelda in Ocarina of Time when I was younger. Shes way pretty, and I like the final battle in the game where shes on Links side. I never liked other Zeldas, though.

honestly, i've never wanted to be anyone else. really. but i envied some of the women who did things that i admired. like weren't the shrinking, helpless, snivelling chicks that resembled most of the girls i knew.

women who could operate a chainsaw, a .45 and a pastry bag. could make beef bourguignon and hang some shelves. would go on a motorcycle road trip and then come back and teach sunday school. loved mountain climbing and poetry. women who didn't care much about expectations, and answered to themselves and God.

didn't need a guy to carry everything out of the vehicle for them. could be alone for a spell without falling to pieces. women who didn't apologize for, or diminish their strength, beauty, smarts or dreams. women who didn't need permission to do everything, but took the opportunity to choose their path. a woman who was brave enough to like herself for who she is, and accept herself for who she is not.

not to prove something, but simply because they wanted to.

and could do all those things with quiet humility and a great appreciation, instead of diminishing the other gender with their accomplishments and independence.

those are the women i admired. : )

i liked all the guys who encouraged and appreciated them, instead of being threatened by their drive and interests.

oh, and all the guys who beat me in school/college, especially that heartbreaker who stole the sanders county spelling bee from me. : )

I dunno, some women actively profit from the whole shrinking chick image. I know one woman, ain't saying who, that wanted to get her tire pressure checked and I knew she could easily do it herself but, "I'll just look feminine and helpless and get that guy over there to do it for me." And for sure, he did do it.

hahaahahaaaa.

actively profit from or flirt? i can't say i've always refused help, even when i could do things myself. sometimes it's nice to have help. and sometimes the one offering is awfully interesting. : ) that's not a terrible thing right? being social? accepting help? especially from one who knows better?

take tire pressure for example. i know how to check it. but i still doubt myself. like, did i do it right? in fact, vehicle maintenance might be one of my biggest insecurities associated with being single. when i get the oil changed, the guy seems so compelling when he tells me that the [insert service] is due. and for all i know, i'm going to be on the side of the road at 1 a.m. just waiting for the boogey man to kill me while i'm making arrangements.

and considering the last time i had to call triple A, the guy they sent kind of reminded me of the boogeyman, but that's neither here nor there. : D

all my life i've kept fairly low mileage vehicles because of this fear, and now, i'm sort of learning how to be confident with one that is older. it's about ready to turn 50k and i'm kind of scared. seriously. i've joked before that vehicle maintenance and decisions provide a compelling argument for marriage and i'm mostly kidding. : ) BUT it's paid off, and i don't want to make decisions from a place of fear. i probably just need to educate myself more. but yeah, that's my kryptonite.

i'm going to be ok. one day at a time. : )

p.s. i don't mind admitting either that while i could probably do fine on my own, i love that my dad still does my (complicated) taxes for me, and has a hand in helping me procure my vehicles. when i was younger and he travelled a ton, he would fly in, and out the same day, just so he could make sure no one screwed over his daughter. i kind of love not having to be responsible for everything (only 99%). oh, and being a daddy's girl. : )

You should believe in yourself more. You know what the man doing that for you is doing differently? Just being confident for the sake of being manly :p No joke. Men have to act strong and courageous, like they are completely sure of themselves and nothing is undoable. But, many of them probly are only acting like they know what they are saying with some doubts in their minds but dont want you to know :p
I dont think its wrong for a woman to believe in herself like men do in any way.

I had a crush on lizzie mcguire(hilary duff) as a kid.

If I can I would like to be like adam brown, after defeating an addiction to drugs he became an absolutely great father, husband, teammate and warrior while having a strong relationship with God.
