In other news. The scale was nice to me and I lost another 3 kilos (6.5 lbs) over the past month even with the ice cream and sweets indulgence over Christmas vacation. And I'm just feeling like my brain is going in a bazillion different directions and needs to be defrayed (stupid autocorrect that was supposed to be defragged) or something. Oh and I got a discount coupon for pizza so roomie and I are going to have pizza for lunch today. Pizza is kind of a special treat in our lives so yes it is a big deal.

I do know that due to the way my twisted brain works I now sometimes refer to US $50 bills (which have Grant's picture on them for those of you not familiar with American currency) as hugs.
Well be a nice lady and pass the hugs around :p

Wow you drew that?! :D That's awesome!! Looks like a P-38 lightning to me, but I think there's another one it could be too, can't remember what its called.
Bingo! It's a p38. And yes, I drew it. :p

Well to take your mind off that let me tell you about President Grant. His given name was actually Hiram Ulysses Grant, and rumor is he hated the fact that his initials spelled hug (I guess that doesn't seem very manly). When his congressman was recommending him for Westpoint he got the name wrong and assumed that Ulysses was his first name and following the convention of the time that his second name must be his mother's maiden name (Simpson). And well I guess patriotic initials were better than initials that spelled hug so he went with it.

*I'm not entirely sure if the above story is true or one of those historical anecdotes that gets repeated and passed off as fact. I do know that due to the way my twisted brain works I now sometimes refer to US $50 bills (which have Grant's picture on them for those of you not familiar with American currency) as hugs.
I've heard that too, and I think it worked out well for him. His fake name has a better ring to it than his real name. If Jefferson was your kid, what middle name would you have given him?

So at work now they have a new system where we have dissected the load of work we have to complete in half, which is good a very good system. But today was a new day in a sense because I was supposed to make 80 servings of pumpkin bread lol.
And guess who made 36 really good servings, me :p
I tried making all of them, I really spend three hours preparing it and continuously baking them, but the outside of the bread was as hard as a rock while the inside was all.....mushy lol.
So I'm gonna have to practice my bread making skills at home

Also was supposed to train a girl at work today but I was too busy and we ended up serving everyone in a very untimely fashion.
This is my life, lol.

Don't you live in a land of curry?
Aye, aye, Sir!

But I cannot eat any spicy dish. I guess I "inherited" that trait from my mom. To be honest, it's not easy to be intolerant of spice in India. I have had to by picky about the food I eat and the cuisines I try. Sometimes I go ahead and eat it and later spend 24 hours regretting that. :p

My Mom still tells the story about when I put her through a horrible week. I was about 1 and a half and she was pregnant with my brother. And little cinder was convinced that 2 AM was get a bottle, get diaper changed, and then play for 2 hours time.
Whew, I thought I was worse. When I was about that age, I was up at 2 AM playing with the pressure cooker. I used to think that, that was the right time to cook some rice and porridge for my folks.

Sure, I'll take a hug. But you'll need go go gadget arms to deliver it to me I think.
See, that's why you never get any hugs. You just complicate everything. Can't you take one? If you don't want it, take it and give it to me. I'll give you a dead frog in exchange for one hug.

Or a dead cat.

As you wish...

I love a good curry, but most Indians would put me to shame (and that's okay). I enjoy mild to moderate curries. But here in Australia, some people find even the terribly mild ones to be too spicy.

carnitas are tacos made with roasted, shredded pork. we have an amazing mexican fastish-food place that serves the most delicious and authentic food, and best of all, it's only about a mile and change from my house.
Technically, that's not quite right. Tacos are tacos. Carnitas are hunks of pork that have either been roasted or deep fried, which are then shredded for use in MANY applications, including tacos. But you can also have carnitas in burritos, gorditas, tostadas compuestas, tortas, and as a substitute for shredded beef in machaca. About the ONLY thing I have not seen carnitas used in are enchiladas (but it wouldn't surprise me if it's been done) or any kind of caldos (including posole, and OBVIOUSLY not menudo).

And, as she mentioned, Roh, just because a dish is Mexican doesn't make her spicy...er, make IT spicy. There's plenty of non-Scoville-laced Mexican foods. Most carnitas are only season with salt before they are fried/roasted, meaning that any extra flavoring will come from whatever you choose to add to your burrito or tacos. (Cebollas y cilantro, con guacamole for me, por favor.)

Thank you for the clarification, Monsieur Shour.

You are quite right that carnitas cannot be added to menudo. How could one even imagine adding carnitas to them?

thanks shour, you're making me hungry all over again. : )

So because of obamacare we are restricted to no more than 30 work hours in a given week. This is a problem for more than my personal financial reasons - they need me to fill in on maintenance tomorrow and I don't have the hours to spare. I will be going in tomorrow, doing what I can in a little bit more than half the usual time and leaving some stuff undone after I run out of time.

This strongly disagrees with me. I hate leaving a job half done.

I don't get that. They basically limit your health risks by limiting your working hours? That logic is beyond me.
