all you are saying equals faith without works....which is dead...the will of God is that all men be saved...if you believe that man is saved just by believing the word without doing what the word says...what can I say...maybe you did not hear James...
James 1:21-25King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
You simply deny the truth. Christ did all the work that God would ever accept. Man can only accept what Christ has done and what God has accepted as sufficient to redeem mankind.

We are saved by grace. Grace is all sufficient. Grace is completely efficacious in the matter of salvation. You diminish Gods grace when you endeavor to add works to it.

Those who are saved are saved by grace. Those who reject grace are lost. Gal 3:1

Constructing doctrine without the full council of God is not wise, your doctrine leaves out Mark 16:16 making your doctrine different then the doctrine of Christ... if your doctrine cannot be reconciled with all of scripture, then your doctrine is self imposed religion.

Colossians 2:23 (NKJV) These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Your dead, You can not walk to get baptized. Until you see this, you will never see truth

Thats right, You do not think dead means dead.

Thats why you can not fathom and see the truth.

what happen to through faith.....it is by grace through faith... Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him..

2 Corinthians 5:14-15King James Version (KJV)

[SUP]15 [/SUP]And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.

Nothing happened to faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. God gives faith through His word by action of the Holy Spirit. It is still grace that saves. It is grace that imputes Gods righteousness to man. Man can have no faith apart from God at least no that makes him wise unto salvation.

Yes, I know what spiritually dead is, it is when one has not "obeyed" the gospel, including but not limited to Mark 16:16, it is when those like you, have a man made self imposed religion :

Colossians 2:23 (NKJV) These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

a will worshiper :

Colossians 2:23 (KJV) Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Your self-made religion :

Colossians 2:23 (NASB) These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly indulgence.

You have a doctrine other than that of Christ.

Nothing happened to faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. God gives faith through His word by action of the Holy Spirit.
now look at this...
God gives faith through His word by action of the Holy Spirit.
you choose to put in what I coloured red where does the scripture say that???
Romans 10:16-18King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
[SUP]17 [/SUP]So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

It is still grace that saves.
we are saved by grace through faith....you keep leaving out faith...
Ephesians 2:8

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

It is grace that imputes Gods righteousness to man.
but only through faith...which comes by hearing and it is dead without works.....
Romans 3:25

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

Matthew 3:15
And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Man can have no faith apart from God at least no that makes him wise unto salvation.
then you are denying faith comes by hearing

James 2:17-19King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

In order for one to become a Christian, he MUST faithfully obey God in doing works of believing, Jn 8;24; repentance, Lk 13:3,5 confession, Matt 10:32,33 and submit to baptism, Mk 16:16.

Then upon becoming a Christian and remaining saved, the Christian MUST maintain an obedient faith, Rev 2:10, keeping Christ works Rev 2:26, continue walking in the light so all his sin can continually be cleansed, 1 Jn 1:7 and do good works that God pre-ordained Christians to wallk in, Eph 2:10, Matt 25:32ff

It therefore is IMPOSSIBLE for a man to do nothing his entire life and yet still be saved. No verse says "do nothing" to become a Christian and "do nothing" to remain a faithful Christian.

A thought:

1 Tim 5:8 "But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel."

If I had to go out and get a job to WORK in order to provide for those of my own house, else be a faithless infidel, does that secular WORK I am doing mean that I am trying to merit my salvation, ie, keep from being a lost, faithless infidel?

If eternal security were true, does that mean I do not have to work to provide for my house and can still be saved as a fatihless infidel?

So can anyone demonstrate how a man can never do ANY KIND of work his entire life yet still be saved?
Salvation is a deliverance. Our eternal salvation is by God's grace alone without the help of man (Eph 2:8, For by grace are ye saved through faith (of Jesus) not of ourselves, not of works, lest any man should boast. Are you boasting? We are saved almost daily from losing our fellowship with God, and to maintain that fellowship we must do many good works, because this deliverance (salvation) is gained by our works, unlike our eternal deliverance which is by God's grace without works of man. The scriptures will not ever agree with each other unless you rightly divide the salvation scriptures. There is only one time we are saved eternally by Christ's obedience to his Father by his sacrifice on the cross, but we have many deliverances (salvations) each time that we repent of our disobedience to God.

I say that for it is not possible for something to be alone and not alone at the same time.

Eph 2:8 does NOT say saved by grace ALONE through faith ALONE. That would be a contradictory statement.

The word "alone" is an exclusionary word, it excludes everything else.

So if salvation was by "faith ALONE" then that excludes everything from savlation that is not faith...."faith alone" therefore excludes grace.

If salvation was by grace alone, then that excludes everything else from savlation that is not grace...."grace alone" therefore excludes faith.

As someone else once put it, if "Faith" and "Grace" were the names of two women, can a man be married to "Grace alone" and "Faith alone" at the same time? No, for he can only be married to only one woman alone at the same time.
The "faith" in Eph 2:8 is not man's faith, but the faithfulness of Jesus to suffer the cross. Gal 2:16 is a companion scripture to Eph 2:8. Knowing that a man is mot justified by the works of the law, but by the faith "OF" Jesus Christ. The "of" means that it is Jesus's faith, not ours. Some translations have changed the meaning of this scripture by changing the word "OF" to "IN", which makes it man's faith, which it is not.

You were saying?
Colossians 2:6-7

King James Version (KJV)

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

How did you receive Him? In faith, without works. So, how do you walk in him? By faith. We walk into the works God made beforehand, but walking in them is not what has saved you, it is the blood of Jesus Christ, His sacrifice. The whole thing, death, burial, and resurrection. Works are a fruit of salvation, but not the root of salvation.

You seem to think that works has a place in your salvation. They do not. Not on any level, lest you can boast.(Ephesians 2:8-9, which I will post for you below) They have no place whatsoever in your salvation, they neither save you, or keep you saved. The ONLY place works has, is in that of rewards when we are judged upon the mercy seat of Christ (Bema). Remember, even then it says "
he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."(1 Corinthians 3:15)

Ephesians 2:8-9

King James Version (KJV)

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

All these MUST's you have seem very legalistic and works orientated. The only must to be a born-again child of God, whom is saved, is that you MUST believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God (and what He has done on your behalf). Any other "must" and you are adding upon the grace of God.

The carnal man cannot believe until he is already born of the Spirit, according to 1 Cor 2:14.

The carnal man can understand and believe if he so chooses but chooses to "receiveth not".

It is not biblically possible for one to be first born again in unbelief then believe some tie later.

Rom 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Faith/belief is what comes from within a man's heart for those that choose to believe;

2 Pet 1:5 "
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;"

1 Pet 1:21 "
Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God."

Man develops his faith within his heart upon hearing the word, Rom 10:17.

Gal 2:16 "
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."

Why does it say "
we have believed"? Because men develop belief within his own heart.

"THE FAITH" of Christ refers to Christ's own perfect obedience to God. Since Christ's faith was sinlessly, flawlessly perfect then it is the basis to be justified. So those that obey by being baptized in to Christ and put on Christ, Gal 3:27 then are clothed in Christ's perfect faith, perfect righteousness. If Christ's faith had not perfect, then it would not save one to be in Christ.

Not a single verse says salvation is by grace alone. Salvation is by grace but not by grace alone, many have to change the word of God to ADD the word "alone".
Eph 2:8 it takes BOTH God's grace and YOUR faith. Either one alone cannot save.

gross misunderstanding of scripture...faith comes by hearing...it is the carnal unbeliever who faith comes to by hearing the word of God...

receiving the things of God is a different kettle of fish

1 Corinthians 2:14King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Amen to this for sure.....In the grace you are, having been saved out of faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works lest any man should boast. That not of yourselves is directed at the word FAITH as it is the perfect faith of Christ which saves and justifies us (Galatians 2:16-21) ........many fail to understand that it is the faith of Jesus that actually saves and justifies us......that is why salvation is eternal and secure in Christ as his faith is perfect and never fails.......!

the faith of Christ speaks of the faith that Christ had when he walked the earth...it is the same kind of faith you must have...you must have the faith of Christ
Matthew 9:29
Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.
1 Corinthians 2:5
That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Corinthians 15:17
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Ephesians 1:15
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

....faith without works is dead (Jas 2:26)
Agreed. . .

What does Paul mean, is he contradicting James in:

Ro 3:28:

"A man is justified by faith apart from observing the law
(works)."

Ro 4:5:

"To the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked (not those who do works),
his faith is credited as righteousness."

Ro 4:16:

"The promise comes by faith so that (intention) it may be grace (not works)."

Ro 5:1, 9:

We have been justified through faith. . .by his blood (not our works)."

Eph 2:8-9:

"It is by grace you have been saved, through faith--and this (salvation) is not of yourselves,
it is the gift of God--not by works, so that no one can boast."

Salvation comes by faith alone, not by works. (Paul)

Sanctification then comes through the obedience of faith (works). (James)

It's not complicated.
