1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is begotten of God doeth no sin, because his seed abideth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is begotten of God.

this is born again and what is sin contextually according to John?

1Jn 3:4 Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

Sin is transgressing the law, so if the one born of God does not sin then they are obeying the law. why because the law is on their heart. what law you ask:

2Co 3:3 being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in tables that are hearts of flesh.

written by the Spirit and it is the law on stone now written on the heart.

So then those who have faith will keep the law.

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

The law on stone is not the law written on the heart. The law written on our hearts is written with the Spirit of the Living God.

What does the Spirit of the Living God write on our hearts???

Galatians 5:22-23
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This fruit is only given and grown by FAITH. Whatever is not of FAITH is sin.

A certain ruler asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
[SUP]19 [/SUP]“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. [SUP]20 [/SUP]You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’[SUP][a][/SUP]”
[SUP]21 [/SUP]“All these I have kept since I was a boy,” he said.
[SUP]22 [/SUP]When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
[SUP]23 [/SUP]When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was very wealthy.[SUP]24 [/SUP]Jesus looked at him and said, “How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!......................

Ok, but was the offer there? Did Christ say this or not?

Mat 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

So tell me about this. Was there a different way to eternal life under the Old Covenant?

OK, nice quote now tell me, what determines sin? Faith?

Can I have faith and lie and all is OK?

No one entered Heaven under the old covenant, for ALL RELIED ON Christ's DEATH ON THE CROSS TO RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE

No one attained Heaven under the old covenant, for ALL RELIED ON Christ's DEATH ON THE CROSS TO RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE

Well, let's rephrase that, to no one received eternal life under the Old Covenant for reasons not related to this thread.

OK, then how about the father of the faithful, Abraham?

David?

Noah, Daniel and Job?

Enoch?

Elijah?

Funny, obedience is always called a works based religion.

What do you call the opposite? You know, disobedience. What is disobedience called?

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

If you could obey the law then why did Christ have to come and die for your sin???????

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Perhaps its because obedience is more difficult than you think? Perhaps obedience must be given as a gift as well???

Ephesians 2:8-9
[SUP]8 [/SUP]For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Do you keep (obey) all of the literal commands of Christ in the Gospels?....

cutting to the chase. yes.

which one of the commands of christ do you disobey ?

(he said (it is written) his commands are not burdensome, and i have found that to be true.

even not one of the ten commandments is hard to keep for someone with the mind of christ , which he has granted to all the ekklesia abiding in him, of which i as gladly rejoicing to be one.

now of course, today, in many of today's churches disobedience is encouraged, so they are condemned. they pat one another on the back for continually going along with breaking God's Law instead of repenting. so they all are judged guilty (and not being forgiven ) by their own words and actions, according to God's Own Word. (as it is written, without repentance is no forgiveness of sin).

None of the law is abolished. The Lord didn't come to abolish the law. He came to fulfill it.

It can't be our tutor to bring us to Christ if it doesn't exist.

It is something I have never come across before, to correspond with someone who never covets anything that does not belong to him, never has even one lustful thought, and does not invite friends and family home for a meal, but rather the lame, blind and beggars that they might receive their reward from their father in Heaven, for instance. Well done!

I also assume if someone stole something of yours, you would offer them more of your belongings, with nothing but love in your heart for them. If someone slapped you on one cheek, you would turn the other with nothing but love in your heart for the person who hit you. If someone asked you to give them money, you would give it, without minding if you never received anything back. This is Christianity on a higher level than I am used to seeing. You must be very blessed indeed in your walk. And as you obey the commandments, I assume you have answered honestly

Which of the fruit of the Spirit will cause you to lie?

Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Hebrews 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

It doesn't say because of lying or breaking commandments.

Hebrews 4:10-11
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Ceased from his own works. He has entered rest because he Believes and has come to Christ and been given Rest. As a gift. Just like everything else that is necessary for Salvation.

But they entered not in because of UNBELIEF.

Galatians 3:11-12

[SUP]11 [/SUP]But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.

Just to reinforce what you said here...

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

I hear this tripe about how no one can obey, no one can keep the Commandments. OK, probably true for one who is carnal...

Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Notice it is the CARNAL mind that cannot be subject to the Law of God?

What do you think you are using to explain what you just explained???

The carnal mind is what falters. The carnal mind is what falls into unbelief.

How do you not use the carnal mind and flesh to work at keeping the commandments?

The word faith here is as follows:
G4102
πίστις
pistis
pis'-tis
From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

Showing that, it could be said that the just shall live by moral conviction, to which the law is not moral conviction, but rather Truth to what is right.
