"Taps" on motorcycle boots
Matching Ban-lon shirts and socks
Black leather jackets with a dozen zippers
"DA" haircuts
fender skirts
window "wings" on cars
REAL Coca-Cola
Soda Fountains, with Soda Jerks
Drive-in Theaters

But you're too young to remember these things.

We used to use REAL coke to clean the acid build-up off our car batteries, and to clean off our windshields (shake the can, - "bottle" back then - spray the windshield, then rinse Thoroughly) Coke will completely eat up a strip of bacon suspended in the stuff, over the weekend..... the old REAL Coke, that is.

And we DRANK that poison!

Cargo pants. Oh man, I wish, I wish, I wish cargo pants would come back. I so loved having a thousand pockets. A pocket for everything. Now I have to keep my keys, pen and knife all in the same pocket, and my wallet, change and phone all together in the other pocket.

No way man, no belt pack for me. If I were going that way I'd get a backpack or something. But I do miss having a pocket for everything.

Phone goes in this pocket... charger goes in that pocket... retractable USB cable in that pocket... portable speaker here... earbuds in that one... pen there... utility knife in the pocket right by my knee... multi-head screwdriver here... And I knew right where everything was.

I'm go a little off-the-wall here, and say cartoons. Bring back, or at least make something similar to, the old Looney Tunes; Ren & Stimpy, Animaniacs, etc. Cartoons nowadays are just idiotic and look terrible!

Lynx,

This is a good reason to take up sewing as a hobby :D. I mentioned in another thread that I have something like 10 different patterns for shorts--one of the reasons I collected different styles is because one of those patterns has instructions for the perfect cargo pocket. I just want to be able to put them on a different style of shorts but haven't had the time to put it all together yet.

If I ever get around to it I plan to put cargo pockets on the front and back, and each larger pocket will also have a mini-pocket. Each pocket will have a zipper, because without zippers I have a tendency to lose things. I also plan to add one waterproof pocket to protect my camera for a day at the amusement park (water rides!!!) if I'm every so lucky to go again. Of course, I'll have to make sure it doesn't turn out looking like I'm carrying a full round of hunting gear (think of how much fun going through airline security would be) but the best thing about sewing is that you can make what you want with added details of your choice. And, if you don't like the fabric color choices available (50 shades of gray, literally), you can always buy white or light-colored fabric and dye it yourself.

I miss the quality of days gone by. Nothing is made like it used to be. My Grandpa has a washer and dryer set in that avocado green color that was so popular eons ago, but they still run just fine. My first set of furniture was handed down from my parents and was older than I am, but you can't find quality like that in stores anymore, and of course, everything costs at least twice as much.

I also miss the restaurant chain Bill Knapps (known before its demise as "Heaven's Gate" because of its popularity with the senior crowd.) It had THE BEST cheeseburgers and chocolate cake ever and on your birthday, you got a free cake.

I've never found any place that could come close as a rival in either of these two categories ever and I wish I could.

I had always thought I would date a girl who can pull off a RayBan aviator. But now with women wearing butterfly and wayfarer sunglasses, this is never going to happen. :(

Another retro thing I would like is the gramophone. Some music experts say that the best rendition of the 80's and 90's music is only on vinyl records. I would love to own a gramophone with the records of my favourite bands like Def Leppard, Jon Bon Jovi, Louis Armstrong, Bruce Springsteen, Lynyrd Skynyrd, etc. :)

Music, fo sho! :D

Songs from the 1970's like:
Player (Baby Come Back)
Little River Band (Reminiscing)
Stevie Wonder (Living for the City)
Roberta Flack (First Time Ever I Saw Your Face)
Ambrosia (Biggest Part of Me)
Heatwave (Grooveline)
Bill Withers (Lovely Day)
Joni Mitchell (Free Man in Paris)
Boz Scaggs (Lido Shuffle)
Pablo Cruise (Love will Find a Way)
Pure Prairie League (Amie)
Carly Simon (You're So Vain)
Peter Frampton (Frampton Comes Alive - the whole album!)
Gino Vannelli (I Just Wanna Stop)
Al Green (Let's Stay Together)
Three Dog Night (Never Been to Spain)
Ides of March (Vehicle)
Hall & Oates (I Can't Go For That)
Glen Campbell (Wichita Lineman)

Oh my... and that's just a fraction of the 70's playlist.

Then there's the 90's alternative rock music playlist.... (we can skip right past the 80's music. :p )
