my_adonai_,

after a while, climbing over rocks and boulders becomes 'old-hat' -
and then we begin to cherish the in between times when
the peaceful, graceful road of life will cradle you and carry you
into places that you never dreamed of.....:)

Brought to mind that wonderful song..........The God of the Mountain........ :)

Instead of coming Here to learn, and grow in my understanding of the Word. Instead i see constant arguments and disagreements that are indeed saddening and infuriating to read...
I do not know about you but i know that stagnation is a problem, and as the body of Christ we should move from such petty arguments, and vain disagreements and start to teach and edify each other on the principles of the word of GOD.

Ever hear the story of the tractor trailer that was wedged in a tunnel? Dozens of emergency personnel, public safety officials, town leaders and even engineers were at the scene trying to figure out the safest, most cost effective way to dislodge the vehicle in a manner that would cause the least amount of damage to the road, the tunnel and the truck. A child emerged from the crowd of bystanders and suggested they let the air out of the tires thus dislodging the truck so it can simply be driven out of the tunnel.

I encourage you to share with us some much needed wisdom, but do so with a loving heart. :)

I've been on other sites (non Christian) that are absolutely horrible. This one is actually pretty peaceful. There are a couple on here that I choose to ignore because arguments can get started but other than that, I wouldn't say it's that bad. We are not all going to agree anyway.

A month ago I visited one made just for latinos. The mods there wanted me to rule over the nick I chose, etc. So I came back here to learn a bit until the moment I´m done to be gone.

Listen to what they say with suspect and then go to the word with an open mind and allow the word to teach you the truth.

Act 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

You're absolutely right. Now, how do we get everyone on the same page, doctrine-wise? When we figure that out, we've got it whipped.

Translation: It ain't a-gonna happen. We need to speak the truth in love but at the same time not allow ourselves to be disrespected and ridiculed simply because someone else doesn't like what we believe because it doesn't conform to their standards of "true belief." You'll be able to recognize them readily. They are the ones who get the ugliest and nastiest when you post truth that shows their beliefs are slightly out of whack.

Thanks for sharing that story.

I believe that we all need to be "deflated" from time to time in order to be dislodged from the messes which we've gotten ourselves in.

my_adonai_,

I understand your sadness and anger.

Most people posting on this forum are courteous and respectful in their discussion. There are several however who become snide and rude when anyone disagrees with them. Unfortunately there is no effective way to keep such people off the forum.
However each poster's homepage has an ignore button so you can selectively tune them out,

Well everyone has an opinion, so as written in 2 Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.", "But sanctify the Lord God [Holy Ghost] in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:" 1 Peter 3:15

Yeah, from what I heard it was a couple of JB Hunt trainees who were just turned loose as a team, the trainee driving came upon a 12'10" bridge and stopped to ask this co-driver in the bunk what he should do. The trainee in the bunk got up and looked around and then told the trainee driving, "I don't see no cops so go for it."

Some of my best education for me over the years has come from debating the Scriptures with other believers. For me, just accepting what you are taught without confirming the truth is not the best way to understand and study God's Word - IMO.

As for people's wrong behaviors: I am commanded to love them no matter what.

Oh, we get a lot of rigs that pull in here and let out their 'hot air'. :)

Pulling a set of Wal Marts I take it.

Perhaps if you would devote more time yourself to study of scripture you would understand. Christ said, and I paraphrase, "they killed me and they'll try to kill you. I bring not peace, but a sword. You'll have to hate your family if necessary". He said much more than that. You simply don't understand the work of satan when you see it.
Christ expects us to stand against, to repel, to take our ultimate weapon, His word, into the fray and do battle with those evil forces.
satan goes about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. You want peace? Join the battle and fight 'til the end so you can inherit that peace.

2 Timothy 4:7,8 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."

How do you go about that though?
How do you pick the 'one' truth to edify with, when you have 400 different versions of the Bible's "truth" here?

If we all agreed, then we would just sit on CC and stare at each others avatars.

The point of a forum, I guess?
We all think we are right....that's why we follow what we follow, Right?

It picks you....

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 6:44

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 14:6

I don't know what's going on in your life, Phil, but I do know this:

You've made some spot on posts lately and I would have "repped" you more for the same, but apparently I need to spread some more "reputation" around before I can do the same.

Anyhow, good post.

Correction,
I am not against discussions, but if discussions lead to attack of character, vanities, anger, and other things that do not please GOD. than i would have rather not discussed in the first place. Especially on a subject as the bible.
I am not against contending for the faith, but if that "Contending" is self centered, bashful, lacking any or all of the fruit of the Spirit such as Love, kindness, peace, self control. Then GOD is probably not in that "contending" therefore i will not pertake in it and DO not condone it.
Third!! I have learnt that those who will bring you down, try and destroy what GOD has put in you are not further than those who you deem would understand you and what GOD has called in you. And those are your fellow christians, whether they be church members or fellowship members. Those who are quick to judge, prideful, critics of what GOD adores in you..!!. BAD COMPANY corrupts good morals. simple and clear..

Be blessed... and may GOD correct me where am wrong

Unfortunately, especially when it comes to open forum sites where people are able to express their opinions and speech since it's not highly moderated (with a few exceptions), that means that people will use it in any way that they can. Some use it to put down others who don't agree with them, others use it to lift people up, and in common is the fact that they make up of opinions that collide and result in the things that it does. The main purpose it seems to serve is by communicating with those of like interests and fellowship in that way.

Understanding a bit as to where you come from, it can be quite frustrating if one expects that it'll be like a huge Bible school and that people would be able to question in a way that a teacher would instruct in a classroom with no outbursts. Since it's the Internet, we're not as restricted with how we respond to each comment/discussion. Plus the beliefs of certain topics vary despite that just nearly every one agrees under one thing - following Christ.

Totally off topic here, but I love the quote you have at the bottom:
Christianity is the only story in HISTORY where the super hero dies for the villains.

I do not disagree with contending for the faith.
But if its "Christian" website then there should be more Unity and riots.
We do call ourselves "CHRISTIANS" and bear that seal on our foreheads, then why should there be DIVISION!!.

Please consider these three factors.

While this is a Christian website non-believers participation is not strictly excluded.

Not all Christians have acquired the same level of maturity. The discernment to attack an idea you believe to be faulty without attacking its author requires skill, practice, and desire.

The nature of a discussion of differing viewpoints assumes disagreement. Learning how to disagree agreeably is a skill that comes only with desire and practice, and feedback.
