you offer the gift of "knowledge"? One of the most glaringly obvious examples of how the bible IS true, is how modern scientific knowledge of the brain and how it functions only serve to prop up the bible and its recipe for being healthy in spirit, body and soul. I coukd go into greater detail but I'm on my phone. Perhaps if you are as opened minded as you claim to be, you could provide us with some examples of what the bible says to be true about the human experience as far as new discoveries concerning principles in scripture that today's science says are "good for us". But I digress, your purpose is to find contradiction vs any congruency and therefore you will find what you are looking for.
Modern scientific knowledge of the brain is something I'm very familiar with. Are you?
For one thing, FMRI's allow us to observe the brain working. If there was ever a place for the soul to hide, it was there. And yet nothing that people think is ever separate from these firing neurons, which leads us to believe that thoughts all exist physically. But that should've been obvious all along, as brain damage can cause you to lose memory, change your personality, and even take away your senses. If these things aren't part of the soul, then what exactly did you expect to live after your death?
We've also observed a "god center", a part of the brain that compels us to believe. Christians often cite this as evidence for God, though it's the opposite. If your brain compels you to worship, it follows logically that you will worship, whether or not there's something really out there to worship. It's like when you're so hungry that you eat paper -- it's not proof that the paper is food, but rather evidence that you'll eat anything when you lack real food.
Finally, we know that people are of "more than one mind"... if you sever someone's corpus callosum, the bundle of nerves at the back of the brain that connects both hemispheres, you'll find that a person has two separate personalities. In one case, a patient was discovered who believed in God with one side of the brain but disbelieved with the other.
