The bible clearly teaches that the Law had a purpose and that purpose was to be a school MASTER which was to lead us to and point us to CHRIST....It goes on to say that after we have CHRIST we are NO longer UNDER a school master.....

The bible also teaches clearly that the LAW was given so as to show HUMANITY that WE cannot MEET the standard set by God as NO man can fully KEEP the LAW other than JESUS...to break ONE of the least of the commandments was to be guilty of ALL....

Why is it that people who believe in law adherance to gain, keep or facillitate salvation cannot comprehend that the LAW proves your guilt before GOD and POINTS you to Christ who FULFILLS the righteousness of the LAW in you when YOU believe into him the way the bible prescribes....

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that BELIEVE....what part of believe do you not understand......?

It DOES NOT SAY...It pleased God by the KEEPING of the LAW to save them that KEEP THE LAW....
It DOES NOT SAY...It pleased God to save them that do many wonderful works.....

The simplicity that is found in Christ and BELIEF into the saving faith of Christ is rejected, distorted and ignored by those who claim adherance to the law and or works for salvation!

If you BELIEVE with thine heart (mind) and confess with thy MOUTH that God has raised him (Jesus) from the dead thou shalt be saved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is SIMPLE.........! Be not removed from the SIMPLICITY that IS FOUND IN CHRIST JESUS

Beats me why dcon...but it shows me we have me work to do....

Because some people do not understand believing in the Lord Jesus is an active faith.
We are not held under the 613 Mosaic written ordinance laws as they do not apply to us, and we also do not do works to earn salvation. However a true faith produces fruit or good works unto salvation.
If all a person has to do is profess Jesus as their Lord to get salvation, then all that call on His name will be saved. The bible however does not say that. Jesus says not all that call Him Lord will get eternal life and if you deny others in need you have denied Him, Paul shows that a true faith will uphold the commandments of the Lord, and Paul also shows in Titus that professing Him is not enough if your works show disobedience to His teachings.

Quite contrary to your distorted view Kenneth it does say exactly that....call upon his name and be saved....this is a basic truth that you cannot fathom...nor will you ever be able to fathom it because you trust into works and it is that simple......

FAITH--->SAVES-->saving faith--->produces works<----WORKS DO NOT SAVE, but are evidences of GENUINE FAITH which has ALREADY saved......this is the simple truth that you cannot fathom......!

Yes, the laws were to keep them in line, and that is what a schoolmaster is for, is to make sure that we doesn't crossover any barriers. Like if there weren't any laws, then how would we know from right and wrong, and how would we know that if we are doing something that we aren't suppose to be doing. And the laws has taught us what had happened when sin has entered. Without the laws, we wouldn't never had known, but now we are aware of our disease.

Amen...like the old saying goes though...you can lead a horse to water, but cannot make him drink....it also amazes me how many will deny that they do not believe in works, but will turn around and say two things which belie their position.....

1. They will say you can lose salvation which places your own security in your own hands=works
2. That you must have faith and works=works

Jesus said that if you believe on him whom he (the Father) hath sent you have done the works of the Father.....This is the work of God/The Father<---to BELIEVE on HIM whom HE hath SENT!

Why is it that people who believe in law adherance to gain, keep or facillitate salvation cannot comprehend that the LAW proves your guilt before GOD and POINTS you to Christ who FULFILLS the righteousness of the LAW in you when YOU believe into him the way the bible prescribes....
Same reason why some believe because a car has four wheels it will putt putt down the road all along forgetting that without gas it will only sit.

It only says that to those who take away from what the Lord says it means to believe in Him.
Lord Jesus says those who come to Him, hear what He says, and then does what He said---This is what Jesus said a true believer in Him is like (Luke 6:46-49).
In Titus Paul says there will be those who profess to know Christ, but in works they will deny Him being disobedient. This goes hand and hand with what Jesus said in Matthew 25 where He said if you deny others you have denied Him, and those who do this are sent to eternal punishment and not eternal life.
Then you also have Paul who says multiple times that salvation comes at the end of our faith, and not at the beginning of our faith. Here are three of them;

Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Romans 2:7
To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:

1 Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Then here is one from Peter that makes it crystal clear;

1 Peter 1:9
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Love without trust is like a car without an engine, you can sure push it but it won't take ya that far.

God hates pride, yet that's exactly the guilt of those who reject the simplicity found in Jesus Christ.

In the beginning, they were having sex with family members because they didn't had any laws to follow that say not to have sex with your kin-folks. In one book that isn't a part of the scriptures says that Nimrod's mother saw that Nimrod was a nice looking kid and decided to keep him for herself as her keeper or the one that she is going to procreate with ; and so their thinking pattern was way off; like Ham look at his father's naked body and wanted to put his father on display without having any respect to covered up his father, and which that shows how badly infected he were by the first sin. So it tell that some of them were badly infected, and so this is why God had given them the law of honoring their father and mother; because some of them didn't know that they'd suppose to give them respect. So the laws were to show them the changes that had came upon them since sin had entered. And so the laws weren't suppose to be treated as if it is something sacred that man suppose to serve it, it was made to help man to become civilized, and that is why Jesus had told them that the Sabbath was made for them, and which that He was referring to all of the laws that He commanded them to practice. And so the laws were to keep them in line with His will, the way they suppose to be before sin had came upon them.

All that they were doing, that it wasn't this way in the beginning.

Matthew 19:4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’

Matthew 19:8 Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.

I am not going to argue with you Kenneth....you believe in works for salvation and you consistently take scripture out of context, ignore scripture in context and deny the very words of Jesus himself....Jesus said clearly...BELIEF=SALVATION and it is a PRESENT reality for those who have actually TRUSTED Christ.....So keep trusting yourself and your works and your abilities to EARN your way there...I will trust JESUS, JOHN, PAUL and the WORD of GOD which states that I am currenty possessing eternal life and that I am presently a SON of GOD, CHILD of GOD by FAITH into and acknowledgement of JESUS and his sacrifice for my sin.......You still carry way too much RC dogma and baggage from your past!

He that believes on the SON HATH ETERNAL LIFE<-----what part of that do you not understand..It is in the PRESENT CONTEXT...wake up and acknowledge the truth and HUMBLE yourself for once in your life!

looks like even the first 3 posters admit that the schoolmaster is needed until grace cometh.....

they don't realize that they haven't fulfilled nor in any way gotten to and passed the schoolmaster,

nor has yahweh shown mercy upon them yet except as he does upon everyone righteous and unrighteous (RAIN AND SUNSHINE)....

they haven't yet learned from the schoolmaster, and they reject it instead, and they cannot receive grace because
of
the rebellion against yahweh and against yahshua.

The truth is quite simple....you dont know what you are talking about.....Once faith has come we are NO LONGER UNDER the SCHOOL MASTER......it is rather humorous to see you post...90% of the time you have no clue as to what you are saying and or what the bible teaches....I suggest you go back to the milk and a bottle as it would do you some good.....

1. Your a sinner and you need Jesus to save you
2. Believe and trust into Christ and he will save you
3. The law proves your guilt before God and in NO way, SHAPE, or FORM makes you righteous before GOD
4. The RIGHTEOUSNESS of the LAW is APPLIED unto believers DIA FAITH into the SON of GOD A.K.A JESUS the CHRIST
5. When God sees the blood he will PASS OVER YOU.....

I suggest you learn these truths and then come mouth about who knows what and who is actually ignorant of the truth!

You know, I just thought of something. The simplicity of Christ, as you put it, is one reason this faith is applicable to any culture. I mean, anyone can accept it and merge it into their lives, even in the face of persecution. With the faith alone mindset, you don't have to fight cultural barriers.

For example, in some cultures, women are topless, as in tribal villages. They are not a stumble to their brother, because that is the norm. However, sometimes missionaries offend these cultures in their message, because after they say "Now you are saved," they say "you need to dress such and live such." And some forms in of dress in these cultures are traditional, but not offensive to Christ. I remember watching a documentary on some of these tribes being evangelized, and some would refuse Christ altogether, because they were taught they had to basically forfeit the way they live, and have lived for a long long time. That's a shame, because they heard that being a Christian meant believing x, AND doing y and z.

I have no problem with training one to grow in the faith, to obey God, and honor Him. The problem with being legalistic, like say you have to read your bible, is that naturally what follows is measures in which these requirements are obtained. One might say "I read a chapter a month." They might get told that's not enough, or they're not serious about their faith, or such. If the Bible is food for the soul, then how is it one Christian can dictate another Christian in how much to eat? Isn't that between the babe in Christ and his/her Dietician? Our physical bodies have a standard set need, but there are complications and differences in chemistry that would affect how much and what diet is healthy for the individual. I believe God's word is the same.

I don't know about an eternal hell - I believe in period of refinement - but in any case, I think those who prevent others from entering the Kingdom with legalism are going to have it worse than even the most vile criminal.

Interesting concept for sure......will re-read later and get back with a thought or two...thanks for the thoughts....!

Ok a few point to ponder......yes i believe the simplicity of the message allows it to be utilized in any and all circumstances as it simply calls for belief and acknowledgment of the one true God and the way to his eternal kingdom....He that believeth on the Son HATH eternal LIFE.....there is no way around that statement.......it is in the present tense and indicates an immediate possession.....the verb tense in John 3:16 does the same thing....(is not perishing, but IS HAVING everasting life)....a present continuing result based upon a past COMPLETED action......

Yes as far as growth goes...it takes years of study, failures, successes for one to grow to maturity...even in our natural life we go thru the process.....Jesus did not come on the scene and start his own personal ministry until he was right at 30 which was considered an adult....Jesus was not offended at the people and or their sin...you cannot win the sinners to Christ if you are never around sinners and that is why he ate with publicans, whores and those deemed unworthy by the self righteous hypocrites.....The gospel has no cultural barriers for sure and rises above any and all social norms or lack thereof!

As far as hell/lake of fire goes......I believe the scriptures are clear...it would be foolish for the Lord to warn people about a place that does not exist and in the very minimum be deceptive and false if it were not a real place.....Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that WHATSOEVER GOD DOES it is ETERNAL...this goes both to salvation, eternal life and the punishment afforded to those who reject the one true way and offering of Love that God has made and given in His only begotten Son.....See, at the end of the day you either choose God and his kingdom or you choose Satan and his fallen kingdom....the destiny of Satan/Devil is the eternal lake of fire where the smoke of their torment ascends for ever and ever...everyone one not found in the book of the living (life) will be cast alive into the lake of fire to burn for eternity.....the bible is clear.....some reject this, deny this and try to say that a God of love would not do this......the bible states otherwise no matter how many reject and or deny this truth....!

I believe in works go hand and hand with salvation, because the bible in the words of Jesus and James both say one who is a hearer only and not a doer is deceived. (Luke 6:46-49, James 1:22)

I am not arguing with you Dcon, just showing you clear cut scripture.
By your understanding am I taking scripture out of context, and if you have it out of context which you do then it would look that way to you. Plus a scripture can not be taken out of context when it is clear cut. If it says our salvation is nearer then when we first believed, then you can not have physical possession of it now. Then like I showed Peter clearly says the end of our faith is salvation, not at the beginning. If you believe salvation comes at first acceptance of Christ as Lord and Savior then you disagree with what both Paul and Peter said.
Paul gives multiple scriptures that show actual physical possession of salvation comes at the end, and I just gave 3 of them but have gave many more before.

I understand those scriptures you give Dcon, but you can not take scriptures like John 3:16 and cancel out the rest of what Jesus said and taught. Nor does it cancel out all of the writings of the Apostles.
If He says believe in Him in John 3:16, and then tells you what that belief entails in the likes of Luke 6:46-49, Matthew 7:21, and Matthew 25. They go hand and hand, just like faith and works go hand and hand.

This does not require a certain amount of works one has to do to be saved, as works do not save.
But it does show a true faith is an active faith, because the Lord through the Holy Spirit is working in and through you. If there is no outer change in a believers life and shows in their actions, the bible shows that the truth is not in them as the Holy Spirit is not working in that person. For a person who abides in Christ and Christ in them will produce fruit (works) of the Spirit, and not walk in the works of the flesh.
