After you deal with the issues of ownership that I raised instead of skirting them I'll listen to your counter arguments.

Until you deal with the ownership issues there is no discussion.
Here are the ownership issues:

If one sins they are of the devil.

1 John 3:8
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

Romans 6:15-16
What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

John 8:44
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

1 John 3:10
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

If one truly lives righteously they are of God.

Galatians 5:24
"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

1 John 3:7
"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous."

Romans 8:1
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Romans 8:5-8
"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."

Romans 8:13
"For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live"

Hebrews 12:14
"Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"

Matthew 7:15-20
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."

OK all. Follow the bouncing ball.

1. God gave us free will. He will never take that from us.

2. Once we climb into God's hands, He will never, ever, never ever, ever never, never ever ever, ever never never, ever never ever, never ever never (need I go on?) drop us or kick us out of His hand. Never ever.

3. God never closes His fist on us

4. God never puts us in chains or prison

5. So like the dummies we are we are still free to crawl out of His hands.

6. God tells us, repeatedly, not to be one of the dummies who crawls out of His hands

HE will NEVER EVER let go of us. With God OSAS is absolutely true.

Unfortunately, we can let go of Him. With us OSAS is not so absolute.

Now, do not misunderstand me, believers cannot lose their salvation, but they can forfeit their salvation (i.e. they can willingly throw it away by rebelling against God)...
I cannot see how there can be any misunderstanding regarding your soteriology. You are indeed believing that saved souls can lose their salvation. It is merely semantics to use the word "forfeit" when in practice you hold to that those saved can have their salvation undone. Therefore it is evident you by consequence believe that what a sinner does is what makes the difference between salvation and damnation, not the person and work of Jesus Christ. You go into salvation by something you do, you go out of same by something you do. The problem is, why would a saved soul do anything that could make him lose his salvation, if he indeed knows what he has been saved from? Why would a saved soul live for what is evil? How could a good tree not bear good fruit? These are impossibilities.

Matt.7

[17] Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
[18] A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
[19] Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Matt.15

[1] Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
[2] Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
[3] But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
[4] For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
[5] But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;
[6] And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
[7] Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
[8] This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[9] But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
[10] And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:
[11] Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
[12] Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?
[13] But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.
John.10

[27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
[28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
[29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

Jesus called Judas a "devil". So he was never saved.
Before I bring up a couple of verses, we have to stop and think about this logically for a second. If Jesus chose an unsaved man such as Judas, then Jesus would in effect being choosing an individual who was unholy to be one of his holy representatives. In other words, Jesus sent this man out like all the other disciples to heal the sick, drive out demons, and preach the gospel, etc. as a part of those who represented the Kingdom of God. It would be deceptive on Christ's part to send a man who represents God's good Kingdom who was not really of God. In fact, if Jesus did place a devil into the highest office of the church, then He would have been violating Scripture by doing so (See 1 Timothy 3) (1 Corinthians 12:28).

Judas was once saved and then clearly lost his salvation.

In Luke 10:20, Jesus tells his disciples that they shouldn't rejoice that the devils are subject unto them but they should rejoice in the fact that their names are written in heaven.

In Psalm 41:9 we learn that Judas was Jesus' own familar friend whereby he lifted up his heel against him. To be a familar friend suggests that he was not an enemy to Christ or a devil yet.

Acts 1:25 says it was by his transgression that he fell. So he was not fallen until he transgressed.

Also, satan entered Judas when he took the bread (Which was a part of his big step in betraying Jesus). Satan did not enter Judas before that point. Graned, Judas was called a devil before this point, but he did not actually have the devil in him yet.

In John 17:12, Jesus talks to the Father and says, "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in my name: Those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the Scripture might be fulfilled."

Now let me rephrase this in Modern Terminology:

You have given me all your marables, and I kept them all except the red one which I lost.

OSAS Terminology:

You have given me all your marables, and I kept them all except the red one which you never gave to me.

See how OSAS doesn't make sense?

In other words, you can't lose a book I gave you to borrow if I never lent the book to you.

What do I mean by the fact that salvation cannot be lost but it can be forfeited? Well, let me give you an example: If I had some coins in my pocket while I was running thru a forest and some of them fell out my pocket along my route, I would consider those coins lost unless I spent the time looking for them. But if I chose to just throw a bunch of coins into an open forest, I am willingly forfeiting those coins of my own choice.

For the act of forfeiting something involves a free will choice on the part of the individual. Losing something implies it is taken from you or it is lost to you by either unprepared negligence and or by some external outside force that you cannot control.

As for implying that I believe salvation is something I do or of my own effort: Well, God's Word does not consider confessing sin and refusing to do evil things as works. Good works are things that you do according to His Word. Not hating someone is a passive action on your part. Loving your brother is a proactive action on your part.

But when it really comes down to it. You don't do the good works. That is why it is not salvation by works or in something you do. God does the good work in the believer once they repent of their sins and accept Jesus Christ (Whereby they have a spiritual transformation).

Okay, so who does the "good work" in a believer's life? Is it God? Or is it the believer? Well, Scripture tells us that God (Christ) is the One who does the work within a believer.

Philippians 1:6
Philippians 1:11
Philippians 2:13
Philippians 4:13
1 Corinthians 15:10 KJV
Hebrews 12:1, 2
Hebrews 13:21
Isaiah 26:12
1 John 4:12
Galatians 5:22, 23, 24 (cf. Matthew 7:16, 18, Matthew 19:17)
John 15:5
Ezekiel 36:26, 27

For that is why the 24 elders cast their crowns down before Jesus (Revelation 4:10). For the crowns they received for their good work was all the result of Christ working in them.

Yeah, but doesn't a believer do the work, too? Now, yes, it is true; A believer is created unto Christ Jesus for good works (Ephesians 2:10); And a believer is indeed held accountable by their "good works" here upon this Earth at a Judgment. But we must also realize that true believers are not ultimately doing these "good works" alone or of their own power, though. For in 1 Corinthians 15:10 Paul said that he labored more than all of his brethren, yet he said it was not him that labored but it was the grace of God that was within him. So true believer's are just choosing to allow God's "good work" to flow within them or not.

Unless that person has badly wronged you :)

I see forgiveness as being passive, too. Granted, it is easier to forgive after having been transformed by the Spirit (of course), but forgiving someone does not require me to rearrange my schedule or to work up any effort in doing so. I see Good works as things I have to actively do that require some form of effort on my part and in many cases can be time consuming (Like it is a job or something). Preaching the gospel, helping the poor, having fellowship, etc.

Now, while I believe I am not saved by works, I do believe a true faith will show itself to be true in the fact that it has works that follow it, though.

Aw, thank you VR. May God bless your heart. It is an awesome truth indeed. The day I discovered this in the Scriptures was a very special time for me. I am so glad we can rejoice together in such a beautiful thing.

Anyways, may the Lord's love, peace, and grace fill you even more this week.

Thank you again so much for your kindness.

I can definitely understand where you are coming from with your thinking.
I have been hit with some hard blows by life lol, so for me learning to love some people has basically required me to nail my flesh on to the cross. But praise be to God for the transformation that He works in us.

I do not have many proactive works yet by your criteria. I have been working to fellowship, exhort, encourage, learn, teach and hone my understanding of God's Word solely through the internet for a while now. I am not a member of a local congregation unfortunately.

I am in agreement with you that loving and following Christ is not a passive thing

2 Peter 2:20
"For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

Again, you cannot escape the pollutions of the world unless you have Jesus Christ. The context is that they sinned as a way of life and not in the fact that they were trying to be justified by the Law.
Hi jason.

You still haven't explained from scripture what and how your "habitual" sin is determined. Habitual sin or sinning as a way of life, is an ambiguous statement.

Is "habitual" exceeding 7x70 transgressions of the law? We need exact details on this as according to the doctrine you follow, our salvation depends on whether we fall into your "habitual" sin category.

Just curious whether you see many (if not all) Christians as being into "habitual " sin in that nobody is keeping the Sabbath holy as described in the OT.

And what of the length of one's life? Does God take that into consideration as well?

Are you saying that those with death bed salvation are more blessed than those who live on for years having to dodge the ambiguous "habitual" sin bullet?

If one sins they are of the devil.

1 John 3:8
"He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil."

As you sin therefore you imply that you are of the devil.

Only past sin was remitted at the cross, Rom 3:25. If you have sinned since receiving Christ then there is no sacrifice for your subsequent sin. Where do you stand then?

But for those saved by grace we cannot be charged with sin, Rom 8:33.

If one truly lives righteously they are of God.
How do you describe righteous living.

If its anything less than perfect obedience to the law, then you are in error. Just one offence makes you guilty of all the law (James 2:10).

But for those saved by grace, it's our faith that is counted for righteousness, Rom 4:5.

The doctrine you follow puts you on a failed foundation.

  1. Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you (Matt. 5:44).
  2. Resist not evil: if a man smite thee on one cheek, turn to him the other also (Matt. 5:30-40).
  3. Avenge not yourselves: rather give place unto wrath: and suffer yourselves to be defrauded (Rom. 12:18, 19).
  4. If a man take away thy goods, ask them not again (Luke 6:29, 30).
  5. Agree with your adversary quickly, submitting even to wrong for the sake of peace (Matt. 5:25; 1 Cor. 6:7).
  6. Labor not to be rich: be ready to every good work, give to those who ask; relieve the afflicted (1 Tim. 6:8; Rom. 12:13; Heb. 13:16; James 1:27).

  8. Recompense to no man evil for evil: overcome evil with good (Rom. 12:17).
  9. Bless them that curse you; let no cursing come out of your mouth (Matt. 5:44; Rom. 12:14).

  32. Seek not your own welfare only, nor bear your own burdens merely, but have regard to those of others (Phil. 2:4; Gal. 6:2).
  33. Let your light shine before men: hold forth the word of life. Do good to all men as ye have opportunity (Matt. 5:16; Phil. 2:16; Gal. 6:10).
  34. Be blameless and harmless, as the sons of God in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation (Phil. 2:15).
  35. Be gentle, meek, kind-hearted, compassionate, merciful, forgiving (2 Tim. 2:24; Titus 2:2; Eph. 4:32).
  36. Be sober, grave, sincere, temperate (Phil. 4:5; 1 Pet. 1:13; 5:8).
  37. Speak the truth every man with his neighbor: put away all lying (Eph. 4:25).
  38. Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily as unto the Lord, and not unto men (Col. 3:23).
  39. Be watchful, vigilant, brave, joyful, courteous, and strong (1 Cor. 16:13; Phil. 4:4; 1 Thess. 5:6-10).
  40. Be clothed with humility; be patient toward all (Col. 3:12; Rom. 12:12).

  42. Sympathize in the joys and sorrows of others (Rom. 12:15).
  43. Follow after whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseful (Phil. 4:8).
  44. Refrain utterly from adultery, fornication, uncleanness, drunkenness, covetousness, wrath, strife, sedition, hatred, emulation, boasting, vainglory, envy, jesting, and foolish talking (Eph. 5:3,4).

I think people forget that the law points out sin.

So why do some hold up the law in front of people here?

Cause they are breaking it which means they are still slaves to sin, which means they are not free in Christ, which means they are not born again and do not really enter true faith. which means they do not rest from the works of the flesh.

They use the law for the very purpose it was given to point out sin and thus our need of saving. Paul's first three chapters of Romans point out sin.

Because he knows that through the law is the knowledge of sin. and through the knowledge of sin is the need of salvation.

So people speak of the law on here so that those who are breaking it will see that they are not in the faith they claim to be. but rather are yet to find that Rest Jesus offers.

People speak of the law because they care and don't want others to be deceived by the Devil into a false security.

Many here admit that the law points out sin so go the next step; and see if the law makes you a sinner.

And yes I know that Christ is the end of the law for those who believe. but if you are still breaking it then you have not Christ and thus you are still under the law. This is what so many fail to understand.

If your faith is real then Christ will so change your heart that there is no need for a law to point out sin because you will not be walking in sin anymore.

That is why the law has no place for a christian because they are not in rebellion to God and thus they do not need a law because the law would not rebuke them anymore because Christ is in them and they are dead in the flesh but alive in the Spirit through Christ Jesus.

This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Gal 3:2,3

Gotime, you are judging righteousness by works of the law. Like the Galatians, you are being foolish. You are not obeying the truth, Gal 3:1.

The law is not of faith, Gal 3:12.

Gotime, you are judging righteousness by works of the law. Like the Galatians, you are being foolish. You are not obeying the truth, Gal 3:1.

The law is not of faith, Gal 3:12.
Does this not say exactly what I was saying?

does not the Spirit change the heart? is not the righteousness of the law fulfilled in those who walk according to the Spirit and not to the flesh?

For at least the Galatians were at one time in faith. But I fear that many have not made it as far as the Galatians.

The Galatians are reversing the true formula of faith. They were saying if I work at the law I will receive the Spirit, But this is foolishness for it is written:

Jer_13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil.

So then it is by faith in the promise as it is written:

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

See the Galatians who had first entered faith then made a human equation, namely: Works of the law =Spirit.

But the true equation is: Spirit = works of the law.

For is is written:

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

But as it is said and I quote again:

Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

For God has promised:

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

and again:

Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

So it is by faith that we cry with David:

Psa 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

For I am persuaded that all He has promised He is able to do.

But the true equation is: Spirit = works of the law.
The doctrine you follow is a lukewarm mix of works of the law, with grace. This cannot be.

And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work. Rom 11:6

For is is written:

Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

You incorrectly see "works" as being works of the law.

But Jesus said in John 6:29 that our works are to believe on Jesus.
This is consistent with Christ's commandment, John 3:16.
It's consistent with God's will, John 6:40.

And how is the works of believing on Jesus seen?
James 2:14-17
If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Consider that scripture is spiritually discerned (1Cor 2:14), and thus read it from a spiritual perspective.

Who are the hungry?
It's the lost, the spiritually hungry who lack Christ our spiritual food.

1Cor 10:3,4
all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

And who are the naked?
It's the lost, the spiritually naked who lack the robes of righteousness.

Isa 61:10

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness,

Our works are to believe on Jesus, as Jesus himself said in John 6:29.
And if we believe on Jesus, having such a great light within us, then we would naturally declare the gospel to the lost (the spiritually hungry and naked) professing Jesus before man, so that they also may have Christ the spiritual food and also be clothed with the robe of righteousness, the garment of salvation.

Matt 5:14-16
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see YOUR GOOD WORKS, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

These are the works that shows our faith which James 2:14-17 speaks of.

But, the law is not of faith (Gal 3:12), and it's works of the law that you see as showing one's faith.
What I see from the doctrine you follow is a lukewarm mix of works of the law, with grace. God says we cannot do this, Rom 11:6.
