Ok so you've obviously read the title but when I say reading about sex I don't mean reading stories about sex like a novel or erotica, I mean reading information about different sexual practices. So is reading about various sexual practices to satisfy my curiosity sinful?

Probably not. What other things are you curious about?

God's idea for sex is for marriage alone so curiosity isn't really in His plan.

I don't believe that gaining information to keep yourself informed or educated is wrong. I'd be careful about the type of reading material you choose.

I hope not. I have devoted a fair portion of my academic life to it.

I don't know too many people, who in their teens, DIDN'T make it the focus of at least half of their high school years.

Hello bobb3456789. Before I was a Christian I used to read books in witchcraft, Though I wasnt practice it in anyway or form, but being interested in something that is sin, like your subject of Sex or sex acts or practices, that could be a concern and a hold on you by the enemy. Because as you read on, you will want to know more, and as you want to know more, and no matter how strong your will is, the enemy will use your interest, and it will tempt you to practice it. Never let the enemy have any hold on you what ever the interest is regarding sin.

Its like a person who interesting in drugs, first the person will be interesting to take the lower end of drugs, and the more he takes them, he will increase the wanting to know more and end up taking harder drugs. before long, he is trapped by the shear of interest. As a christian, we should try avoid thinking about sin, however interesting it sounds or is. because before long. you will fall into the enemy's trap.

I'm not saying you should stop, however, I am saying don't give in to the enemy's way of thinking. we are to abstain from sex,

1 Thessalonians 4:3-4

For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor.

so having that interests of sexual Sin, and sexual immorality, may still classed as Sin. Whether you are practicing it or not.

Some people are going to be more sensitive than others regarding this issue, not to say one is more right than the other.
But personally for you, When you say sexual practices do you mean positions? Are you married? If your not married, what's your motive for reading such material? <--I think that's my concern here, motive.

I have to laugh - and admit that when I was only in elementary school (way back when), I used to sit in church and one day I found Song of Songs. Oh wow! My first sex talk. Have to say I was intrigued. And my mother just thought I was reading other scriptures.

Well the Bible talks about it, and God's intended purpose for it. I don't really think you need any other information, since Scrupture is pretty clear about it.

Hello bobb3456789
GOD looks at the heart so if you are reading about sex in a pure way it can't be wrong, but if you are getting the wrong thoughts just remember that we are slaves to whom we obey whether to sin or to righteousness.

Romans 6:16
king james version(kjv)

16.)Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

talking about after you have been reborn or you would already be condemned anyway.

By doing that, you are feeding sinful thoughts into your heart which would eventually take control of your soul and take away your dignity of children of God!

If that interest were to please your wife (better) I don´t see it wrong, but she is the best source of information for you to consult.

I'm sorry to say that this is PROFOUNDLY wrong and teetering on dangerous. To deprive yourself of education and choosing to remain ignorant is well, not a very smart thing to do. Do you suggest we don't teach students in school sex education?

I'm not saying that sex outside of marriage is right. But as imperfect humans, people do make mistakes. That's why we are able to repent. There would be no need to repent if we were already perfect. And as imperfect being, we occasionally make bad choices. Suppose we have a one night stand, do you really not want to be educated about contraceptives and ways to protect yourselves from STDS and AIDS? There are horrible diseases and unwanted pregnancies and to remain uneducated willfully is potentially disastrous, irresponsible, and not auspicious regarding human well being.

This is, of course, NOT talking about erotic literature or stories like 50 Shades of Grey or anything. I'm talking purely about researching something that you are curious about or wanting to learn something about history and different practices. There is nothing wrong with that.

The OP is married and obviously knows about what sex is and how to do it. LOL.. he doesn't need to read about sex..as for teaching children sex ed in school, that doesn't even happen in many schools. It's NOT a required course. btw, 50 shades is basically porn.. :/

I'm not talking about OP. I was replying to a comment I found very absurd.

That is very unfortunate that sex ed is not mandatory in schools...it's extremely important.

I know 50 Shades is basically porn. That's why I specified that I was NOT talking about erotic literature/etc...

Other thing's I'm curious about are geology in tropical climates/island as well as space.
I have devoted my self to God and to learning as much about the world that he made for us as well as what "makes it tick."
