I think that the answer to the OP is more basic than any I have read on this thread.

If, as I do, one believes in a creator God, then He, by virtue of creation, has the right of any creator over His creation.
This includes the right to destroy by any means at his disposal.

Unless or until I am able to create a better universe [not at all likely]; I lack the authority to question His acts or means.
Absolutely.
The creator has all rights and authority over his creation.

As Pumicestone is NOT a Christian, he's not going to like ANYTHING the creator says or does.

For him, these accusations of genocide aren't the real issue at all.

For Pumicestone, a non-believer, the real issue is that he doesn't want a creator.
It wouldn't matter WHAT the creator said or did.
Pumicestone will not recognize an absolute authority over his life.
He will not accept his creator's authority over him.

God has given him the freedom to do this... for a time.
It's his choice.

Well yeah. When only 9 people are left alive as God drowns the entire population of the world that qualifies as genocide.
9? How about 8...Noah, Noah's three sons and their 4 wives......1+3+4=8

Yes, he most certainly did. God promised he'd deal with the inhabitants 430 years earlier to Abraham:
Gen 15:13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
Gen 15:14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
Gen 15:15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
Gen 15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

It wasn't like he didn't give them time to repent. And, yes, God kills for sins.

The shocking part is the Israelites didn't follow God enough. They were supposed to wipe out all the inhabitants, but, instead, they made treatise with some. I've often wondered what the Middle East would look like today, if the Israelites had done what God told them to do.

God's law says to kill pedophiles. Most pedophiles become pedophiles because someone did the same thing to them when they were young. Kill the first and there aren't generations of horrors waiting for others. But we knew better, and so...

Well, I have a few things to say.....

1. God did not commit genocide
2. if you will call this set of scriptures genocide what would you label the flood which wiped out the entire human race (except for 8 adults) and the entire animal, plant, insect, bird kingdom except for what was on the ark?
3. God was removing idolaters and threats to his chosen people
4. The whole book of Joshua is about conquest and war and even Samuel had to hew Agag to pieces because Saul did not do what was commanded.....
5. Even within this rightful act as directed by God we find mercy...any children killed who had not yet reached the point of knowing their guilt before God would be found safe under the blood.....I do believe in the age of accountability and had they been allowed to grow up as idolaters they would have perished in their sins and ended up in hell.

God will have mercy upon whom he chooses and has 100% complete authority to take and or command to take life........!
To answer your question in #2, I'd call it genocide. Yeah. Really. God has done genocide - righteously, of course, but facts are facts. Yes! Wholeheartedly, God does genocide. What else can we call it?

He is who he says he is in his word, or he's nothing but an invention of our ever-changing mind. Since I don't buy the latter, we're stuck with the former. Yes. God commits genocide.

I would call it righteous indignation........and God warned the world by the preaching of Noah.....120 years of preaching!

By that logic I take it you don't pray.
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven."

Looks like a really good reason to pray -- align our wills with his will.

God has not changed, the God of the OT is still the God of the NT and He's still God today... He does not change says the Eternal.. therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. As Far as wrath and God destroying wicked sinners, He does what He pleases according to what He Decreed before Dirt and time were created... His Predetermined Counsel and will...---------> Now He calls Men to repent! and believe the Good News.. some in the Master's day were pondering about the Blood Pilate had mingled with the sacrifices.. or those on whom the Tower of Silhoam had fallen on.. whether some were 'more sinful' than others... God is No Respecter of persons... except ye repent.. ye shall also likewise perish... When God acts.. He acts.. Man can hurl slander at Him, call Him a bully or tyrant.. or whatever.. it doesnt Phase Him.. nor does it Change His character.. nope... God has a plan He ordained and Decreed with humankind from before time and dirt were Created.. He will fulfill that Will no matter what.. He cant be stopped... 'thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven!'

Why in the world would you conclude that from my statement? One has nothing to do with the other.

God is sovereign. He build the place, He can run it anyway He wants. People don't have to like it, don't have to adhere to His rules. But if they don't there are consequences.

What's that got to do with whether or not I pray -- which, if you're curious, I do twice a day?

Only a Yank could defend such genocide of men, women and children - old folk, civilians, non-combatants.
I know, "collateral damage".
And it still goes on.
Barbarians.
well you will have to talk to the Yanks on here about that. :) of course you cannot expect them to be like those sweet and gentle Aussies
What I will defend is what God does. He does know what He is doing. But I realise God means nothing to you

Thats one part I was looking at there, You know whats sort of cool?

Amorites are SAYERS, ever notice that?

Like wwhen looking up what the word means?

Amorite sayer.png

Its like saying,

Iniquity of the SAYERS is not yet full

Whereas Jesus says here (to these)

Mat 23:32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers.

Which they which SAY and do not are adressed (ironically)

I always wondered about that in a whole different way though, just how each are worded and according to another pattern.

Atheists accuse God of crimes against humanity shocker, who would of thunk it eh?
Correctomoondo Kedge

Atheists

Believe genocide is wrong....

Even though nothing is "wrong" or "right" under Atheism due to no moral authority....

Making morality itself a made-up belief that Atheists choose to to follow...

....Logic....

and what about:
[SUP]40 [/SUP]16,000 people, of whom the tribute for the Lord was 32

and the virgen women remained virgen or the Israelites took some benefit ?

and what about the virgen men? even if is few days old?

Have you considered what maybe the conquerors wrote history, and attributed all the cruelty and savage cruelty of those days to God!!!

This is why God is shown as a terrible Israel biased God, But few thousand years later "The Verb that was with God and is God" was born and called Jesus and he said.

"Love you enemy, pray for them..... matew 5,6" What a contradiction, what a change, I believe Jesus put the real Image of God, and the Israelites in their desire to conquer did the Genocide and attributed to God when writting the news papers of the day.

and this is whats reflects in the books of exodus, joshua.... etc etc.
