So you did not pray to God in times of despair so as to receve His love, peace, and joy with another believer to help comfort you?

Yeah and it worked for like half a day then I was right back to where I started. Then I would scream and cry and beg God to kill me.

What exactly were you in despair about? Was it something that is "ME" focused or was it "GOD" focused? Usually we are troubled like this because we need to throw ourselves down before God and surrender our life more to Him and what He wants instead of what we want in prayer. The despair comes because we are acting selfishly and having pity on our life. We have to give ALL our life to God and focus on loving Him and others. That is what this life is about. The reason people despair is because it about self. But when we love God and seek His Kingdom and His righteousness first, there is no room for ourselves. There is only God and His love. So calling upon the Lord to heal you and seek His good ways is what God wants to do in your life.

Hi this is Jason welcome to the suicide hotline. What's that you say, you're suicidal, you need to pray more and ask God for forgiveness. You must have some sin in your life that is causing this for you....etc etc.

So you don't think praying to God and seeking His will instead of our own is the answer to suicidal thoughts? What do you think the answer is then? Is the answer in yourself? No. It is always God.

ROFL!! sooo accurate!

I didn't think it possible for a Christian to be so ignorant. I've gone round and round with Jason. He's as thick as a two ton heavy thing. For a guy who claims perfection he sure doesn't get the one thing Jesus excels at.....empathy.

Maybe if you were to give me some details about the situation using a third person scenario so as not to make it too personal. But please include the details in that parable so as to give us an illustration as to what this person is despairing about whereby they want to kill themselves. Usually these things are "ME" focused and not "GOD" focused. God loves you and everyone and He wants to work in their life. I do not see how that is in conflict with giving a healing for your situation. God loves and God heals. We just have to look to Him and call upon Him night and day to help us to seek His Kingdom and His love, and His peace.

The problem is not with my temple but it is within your own temple. I only seek to love God and love others. I seek to point people to Jesus if they are in despair. Doing that is never wrong.

problem with any manmade temple is that it is like a whitewashed tomb

plus, it stinketh of death and vain glory and apostasy

there is none righteous no not one...if anyone tells you they are righteous apart from their postion in Christ?

run...for they stinketh of death and corruption

JF,

There are several people here who are both caring and understanding.

There are several others who are usually one or the other.

There are some totally without empathy or compassion.

Those of us who care are here for you even when we don't always 'get it'!

Those of us who don't, you can't expect better from

There is no good answer to suicidal thoughts. Suicidal thoughts are as bad as it gets. I think the answer lies in a lot of good therapy and love and yes God.

Honest question: have you ever been suicidal? I'm not talking about "oh I wish I were in heaven right now" I'm talking "I hate my life. I wish I was dead." You see a kitchen knife and you imagine how your death would play out if you took that knife and thrust it in to your abdomen. How it would feel, when you would do it, how your family would react, the peace of nothingness that you would hope that would come with death.

Someone can live in a house up til the age of 18 where every day abuse and molestation takes place. Do you think the person doesn't cry every night for it to stop? Is that person not loved by God or does not have enough faith because the pain stays and the abuse and molesting continues? If God gave every believer what they prayed for the moment we asked for it, this world would be more chaotic than it is. I wouldn't have had to wait 11 months after graduating to find a steady job. That is not how it works. Your philosophy is dangerously similar to that of Joel Osteen and the prosperity Gospel.

Ya ya. We know your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees. You're the resident cc self horn tooter. We get it.

I used to have suicidal thoughts long before I was a Christian. If someone is having suicidal thoughts it is because things are not going the way you would like them to go in your life. It is being in despair about your life and how bad you have it. But God wants us to take away that despair and self pity and replace it with love, peace, and joy when we ask Him to see what His will and His plan for our lives is. Not our plan and not our life, but God's plan and will for our life. When we ask God for His love and peace, we are seeking His will and direction and we are letting go of all things we are in despair about. For example: If it is a person that you love and want to marry and they are leaving you, and you feel that you are sad and in despair; One needs to ask God's will for their life instead of beating themselves up as to any mistakes they might have made. They need to seek the Lord and do admit to anything wrong they might have done before God. They need God in their life to heal them. Asking God to come into their life and to fill their life in every corner whereby they are only seeking His will according to His Word will heal them.

It's never wrong to pray for Jesus to heal you and to seek His will for your life (According to His Word).

it is if you do it without love

Ok so I get it you love Jesus but what does your view of love look like?

I have talked with people who were in despair before and yes, it has helped.

I've learned.....
ADD a bit of compassion , PLUS a better delivery
style, MINUS the textbook stock replies people like us usually give , EQUALS people maybe taking my advice once in awhile.

We know what you're saying, .....one answer doesn't fix every problem though, bro.
It doesn't come easy for everyone, you have to tweak your responses sometimes.
Right?
