Many people indeed ask God to bless their marriage without inviting God to veto their marriage. In some cases God can not bless a marriage because it is outside His will. Asking God's blessing on our choices is not the same as asking God's active participation in making the choice.

It indeed is not case Marc. Its called "mutual submission." It is a very recent "addition" stemming from the feminist movement.

Males are mostly to blame. We have a bunch of wimpy,lazy males, that won't take their leadership roles in their families.

Just look at Abram, He is a perfect example of the "wimpy male" in His marriage. He let his wife run the show and listened to his wife and gave her the authority in His marriage. It wasn't until He girded up his loins and took his leadership role in his family again do we see Gods promises come to fruition in his life.

Adam, he listened to voice of his wife. When he knew better.

Marriage is Gods second divine institution for mankind. The family has a proper order and structure and it is just society and this world that tells us, men are not the leaders in their families. And we have a society of wimpy males that believe it.

Satan knows if he can break down families and marriages everything else starts to topple also.

It's been that way since time began tho don't you think...I mean in Naohs day it looks like dads were letting their daughters marry some pretty shady characters. Passive men is really why we are where we are....from the fall to current day. Where was adam when even was being "beguiled"?

Yeah. It has. The first thing that happens is the accusations against us(men). Truth is, we love our wives so much that we can choose them over what we KNOW is right and God. Hence.......the fall.

A man discusses this issue and the first thing that is thrown out is accusations of uncaring, unloving, sexist and the truth is, the woman has to have doctrine in her soul and support her man in truth. Because if she is "passive aggressive" towards her husband or flutters her eyelids most of us(men) will eat the fruit.

Women need to rightly understand the power they have over men and that power to influence the man. The man is an objective thinker by nature, the woman is a responder.

Men have a hard time even talking about this because they do not want to hurt any women.

Really when it comes down to brass tacks on this issue, the woman needs to submit to the man because we will make foolish choices and wrong choices for the woman that will hurt everybody.

That is so sexist that I don't even know where to start. Humans, male and female, are God's image bearers. Both sexes were commanded to fill the earth, to create and support life, to subdue creation and to have dominion over it.

Plus your logic is flawed. If men are so weak that they are so easily prevented from making sound decisions, then they SHOULD be the followers, not the leaders.
 
The bible tells me that I am supposed to be submissive to men as man is the head of woman. I was raised with this very strictly and I believe I am a better person because of it. I do not hold as much power as a man and when I get married someday, I will serve and obey my husband because thats how I can fill my role in God's kingdom.

In Genesis 6, God said it was that people were wicked with evil hearts. Please don't share misogynistic revisionist theology.

How are you a better person by being told that you are a lesser person? You, too are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are an ezer warrior created in God's image. Being a wife and mother are both temporary roles; God has a plan for you, His daughter. You aren't on hold, waiting for a man to activate you.

That might be true if I was living for the world but I'm not. I'm living for God and his kingdom. Therefore, I have to obey his laws.

All that I have said IS Biblical. Anna was a widowed woman. Many single women followed Jesus around. Ruth served God between her marriages. Lydia was a wealthy woman and church leader. Phoebe was a deaconess. Their lives aren't the ones talked about as much as men, but they were all important to God's plan, regardless of marital status.

The point is Ashley it doesn't have to be like that and you can still love GOD. Still I respect your view and I sincerely hope that you get a husband that respects you as much as it seems you would respect him. The trouble is Ashley for a hell of a lot of women that's not how it is and it ends violently. And in any case most girls I know think that the passages in the bible about a womans role, were written for a life in a largely male dominated tribal community thousands of years ago. Most girls I know think we've moved on since then.
 
In the teen room I started a thread about the Old testament asking is it anti-women and should verses be removed. Could I ask women to express their opinion based on my arguments please. I'd really appreciate it.
