Im just wondering. Ive heard different different things but i want to what truth is. Yes the bible says to love God(jesus) alone, But it doesn't say anything about this Mary person they believe in. Im a baptist and all i know and understand about catholics is they are too scared to ask God things so they ask Mary. But Can they still go heven? Mary is like hardly in my bible. lol

they can get saved just like anyone else in the world , if they repent and turn to God through grace and faith in Jesus Christ.
they usually don't though, because they don't want to give up their idolatry.

Yes they can, but not based on any of that Mary nonsense. Some of them actually read the bible and start to believe it alone the way...but most of those leave the RCC..

Can catholics go to heaven?
And the rhetorical question is...

"Can Protestants go to Heaven"?

And the answer is: BOTH will get to heaven if they know the Lord Jesus as Lord and Saviour!

QED!

Amen! Just like Catholics and Buddhists, and Hindus and Jews, etc...if they receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour, having paid the penalty for all their sins, then yes, heaven is their home. Once one has had a revelation of Jesus Christ and have experienced Him, they abandon their former religious (and unreligious) ways and follow Him in earnest.

I am a Catholic and I never met another Catholic that was afraid to ask God for what they believe is necessary to have a fulfilling spiritual life. A lot of Catholics do pray to Mary though but I am not one of them. The bible says that we are only to love and serve God but it does not say that we are to love God exclusively. What the bible does say is that we are to worship God alone and not other 'gods'.

I am glad that you are seeking the truth. I hope that this has clarified a few things for you regarding the Catholic faith. I am a Catholic, I have asked Jesus, with a sincere contrite heart, to forgive my past sinful life and I have invited Him to live inside of my heart. I have the God's word that I am going to heaven.

Jesus loves me, this I know, 'cause the bible tells me so.

ok tourist, simple question (you might be right, and we hope so)....

if Jesus tells you not to have any idols in your life (he tells everyone this, everyone who is his),

and the pope tells you it is okay as long as the rcc made the idols just to help think right,

do you believe and obey Jesus, or do you believe the pope and use idols when the rcc says it is okay ?

(every nun* i've asked this question gets mad right away --- they are not allowed to disobey the pope, not even to obey Jesus)

*except those who get saved. when they get saved, they get kicked out of the rcc ,

and they finally truly rejoice in God's Salvation !

Can any of you "go" to heaven?

As far as I have read the account of Jesus, He was picked, lift up and taken by angels:

Act 1:9 After Jesus had said this and while they were watching, he was taken up into a cloud. They could not see him (...)

Elijah also was taken, at least before he died:

2Ki 2:11 Elijah and Elisha were walking along and talking, when suddenly there appeared between them a flaming chariot pulled by fiery horses. Right away, a strong wind took Elijah up into heaven.
2Ki 2:12 Elisha saw this and shouted, "Israel's cavalry and chariots have taken my master away!" After Elijah had gone, Elisha tore his clothes in sorrow.

When Lazarus died, he was taken also:

Luk 16:22 The poor man died, and angels took him to the place of honor next to Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried.

So why saying "going" if those ppl were taken into heaven?

That´s up to you, but no one "goes", except God or Jesus asked them.

I didn't read all the replies, so forgive me if this is repetitive. I was born and raised Lutheran. Then I was born again. During the Lutheran catechism classes, we were taught about different faiths. The Catholic faith teaches God may be too busy so they pray to Mary. Calling on Jesus name is not unheard of for a Catholic person, as it isn't unheard of for many faiths.

I was still a baby born again Christian when I was attacked by demons one evening. I didn't know quite how to pray and get results then. So I prayed the rosary over and over for comfort and courage.

It worked.

Years later, I asked, "why did that work?"

Here it is, "Hail Mary, full of grace, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, JESUS.
Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death."

Today, I know. It is praying to the name of Jesus. "At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow." There are born again priests and bibles are opening in the Catholic church, slowly, yes, but definitely opening.

We need to pray for all Christians, even those afar off.
Be blessed!

Personally, I am not under the authority of RCC, or the pope for that matter. I admitted that I am a Catholic. When I got married last year I started to attend the denomination of my wife. While I have attended mass on a regular basis for most of my life I was never a devote Catholic as I found a lot of the teaching to be contrary to the bible. A lot of teaching, but not all of the teaching.

Most of the Catholics that I know are born-again Christians. In not one instance has anyone that is born again been excommunicated from the church.

A prayer of salvation is said during every Mass. The church teaches that salvation comes only from Jesus.

As far as nuns are concerned, I have not talked to one since the age of 12. Where is it that you are in contact with nuns and also, why?

I place my faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The pope is the leader of the RCC but he is still a man and I certainly am not under his authority.

Just out of curiosity, I thought being a Roman Catholic meant you were under the authority of the Pope and the Church.
If not, wouldn't that just make you a catholic (not Roman) as we are all part of the catholic (universal) church?

A Lutheran pastor's message I heard recently asserted that there is a distinction between the Roman Catholic church and the...I don't know...garden variety (if you will), non-Roman Catholic Church (and that they followed the latter).

Yes and no.

Only if they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and receive the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit.

The Roman Catholic Church teaches that nobody can know if they will enter Heaven until after they die. The Roman Catholic Church teaches that Salvation is receive by doing MANY "Good Works".

Most Roman Catholics will never enter into Heaven.

If the RCC bothers you so much you should consider joining a different denomination.

JESUS was bothered, tortured, maligned, slandered, beaten, stoned, crucified, cursed, and dissed by the scribes and pharisees and more where HE was. HE didn't join something different.

HE could walk into a rcc church and heal(save) anyone there who came to HIM.

Those who refused, like the scribes and pharisees (religious leaders, priests, pope) ,
are not saved.

Those who go to JESUS are.

Sounds to me that you tourist are being deceived by the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church does not teach receiving Salvation is by Faith and Grace only tourist. In fact tourist the Roman Catholic Church teaches Salvation is received by "Works" and no one can know if they have done enough "Works" to enter into Heaven until after they die.

Salvation tourist is received only by Faith and Grace.

Ephesians 2:8-9
[SUP]8 [/SUP] For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
[SUP]9 [/SUP] not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Salvation is not received by "Works" like the Roman Catholic Church teaches tourist. In fact the Thief on the cross proves Salvation is by Faith and Grace only.

Luke 23:40-43
[SUP]40 [/SUP] But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, "Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?
[SUP]41 [/SUP] And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong."
[SUP]42 [/SUP] Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom."
[SUP]43 [/SUP] And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

The Thief was not in the Roman Catholic Church. The Thief had not been Baptized and the thief did no "Works".

Desiring Baptism is not in the Scriptures tourist.

You are in the wrong church tourist. 99.99% of all Roman Catholic are not True Christians tourist.

Yes. Actually, the RCC is one of the most legalistic religions on the planet, teaching salvation by works, which is not Christianity at all, but religion...and we all know what Jesus thought about religious folk. He said:

"And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition."
