Joyce Meyer -- False Teacher

To be honest, I've not read much by Joyce Meyer. She never struck me as genuine, but when I saw this quote "shared" on my cousin's facebook page, I realized how false her teaching is.

"The amount of mercy you give other people is the amount of mercy that's going to come back to you. There's a lot of people in the world that are lost. They feel invisible and need prayer a lot more than they need criticism and judgment."

The fact that we get back the amount of mercy we show is patently FALSE and unbiblical. Mercy is not like karma! Our faith is not a works-based tit-for-tat. And how could we EVER show God the mercy He has shown us? (And why would we ever need to show God mercy as He is perfect?)

Wow... just ... wow

I'm no Joyce Meyer fan but "for the same measure you use, it will be measured unto you" seems to indicate exactly what she is saying here.

forgive us our trespasses AS WE forgive those who trespass against us.......

if we don't forgive others, why should God forgive us.............???

and couple that with what Sirk said...........or, rather Jesus said........

the standard we use to judge others is the standard that will be used to judge us...........I suggest, for self preservation, one apply a heaping amount of Grace............

I don't care for Joyce Meyer that much but I wouldn't call her a false prophet. False Prophet seems to be used quite a bit these days when someone doesn't care for another teacher of sorts.

Seems that label is used so much that it has become somewhat meaningless.

I'm not a fan of hers either, but the point being questioned in the OP is found in scripture.............

i'm not on the ball this morning, but the OP didn't say 'prophet', she said teacher.

imo, this is speaking of our relationships with other people.
we should not judge harshly or unmercifully, or with a 2x4 in our own eye.

tit for tat is the default mode of the human :rolleyes:
those who know the Gospel know God has dealt with His own quite differently.

Maybe she is trying to say that if we sow to the flesh (bitterness)..we will reap from the flesh
If we sow to the Spirit (mercy, love, etc) we will reap life etc...

OFF TOPIC........well, sort of...........and kinda not..........just yesterday I learned of the downfall of Rick Warren. Weird, just plain weird.......but I was not a fan of his either.

No, heard about it in church service yesterday morning..........one could search I suppose. It concerns his having various and sundry affairs...........and his excuse given (paraphrased) You don't understand the pressure I'm under.

Well, I'm searching, and so far have not found the story I was told of yesterday............so, until I can find it and document it, I will withdraw my statement "the downfall" of Rick Warren......

I love how everything turns into a Cult if someone doesn't agree with it?

I don't consider myself a Word of Faith person but with some of my beliefs people might put me in that category. I think the issue is, people are brought up one way and if they hear something they haven't been taught it is automatically thrown into either False Prophet, False Teacher or a Cult. People should really start researching for themselves before jumping on the band wagon.
