It's like the Toronto Blessing and the thing that happened at Pensacola Florida. People came to those things that weren't even Chrisitans because they were attracted by the nuttiness of it all. Why people find it interesting to see people crawl around on the floor and make animal noises and fall backwards is beyond me. I think people just like to be entertained.

I would have wanted to see it myself simply because I'm fascinated by psychology in some areas. At the same time, spiritually I wouldn't have wanted it.

I think it is best to just stay clear of that stuff. Since I think it is demonic, it could be possible for the spirit of satan to invade you.

I can't attest to the fact that your experience was valid since God deals with people in different ways. My point was the "falling backwards" is not how God deals spiritually with people.

And you KNOW how God deals with people, how?

Toronto started with God but later dissolved into pure flesh as I see it.

That's the past. The church there now is a thriving work, blessed by God. But, of course there are those who would rather persist to scrape along the bottom, scavenging old, dead matter to make specific points that have no merit.

nope she did not take it in any other direction but "falling backwards" is not how God deals spiritually with anyone.

AWC covered this by asking the question why do people fall backwards. Chica is picking fights, because she stated as fact that falling backwards is not how God deals spiritually with people.

Her mind is already made up on the topic and she started this thread to start a fight and as bait and nothing else.

She can play games with admins/mods and gather support among other posters by posting fake apologies, but msyelf and others see right through her. Her imperative and declarative statement that God does not work in a certain way, proves her agenda.

It also proves her Biblical ignorance how God does work spiritually with people, which is: ANY WAY HE WANTS TO!

She is also spreading untruth of the word of God. Yet she continues. I would be impressed if CC actually had admins that lowered the boom and gave infractions for people that state a blatant untruth about how God operates, like they do for peeps calling people names and other such things.
I see. You don't agree with her position so you pick a fight with her?

Can one of the proponents of being slain in the Spirit tell me the purpose of it?
Fancy, Joshua or Willie?

In my experience and from discussing this with Spirit-filled Christians, I have come to the understanding that this manifestation is of the power of the Holy Spirit, which can come upon people with such a degree of heaviness that they can no longer remain on their feet. No one gets hurt by falling, and the time spent bathed in His presence is one of utter spiritual and physical rest. In my own opinion, I see this manifestation happening in this generation more because even Christian's lives become frenetic and chaotic with busy-ness, and God is giving them His special rest, and a one-on-one time of refreshing. Not only that, but deep needs are being met, and healing is taking place, and fresh wisdom and/or knowledge is passed on to them by His Spirit, not to mention spiritual gifts are being downloaded! Any number of needs and blessings are being administered in that short floor time!

True simply me telling of my expereince doesn't make it where you know for sure it's true. But falling backwards? I would think we would drop instead of falling backwards, when one loses all strength they don't fall backwards they drop to the ground

Two questions...
Scripture support?
Does God need to work through a stage and a person to give what you claim He gives?

My OP shows that. People that truly experienced God fall to their knees or with their face down.

That's easy.... she told you. She approves, for God, what He is and is not allowed to do................ as she decides for Him.
Do you ever have anything of any actual worth to say? I've probably had the misfortune of reading about 30 of your posts on different threads and I don't detect the Spirit or heart of God in any of them. You seem to think that God's desire for your life is to make antagonistic comment after antagonistic comment. God's desire is that we be conformed to the image of Christ. He wouldn't speak like you speak.

If what happened to me was anything like being slain in the spirit I imagine if I was standing up when this happened I would have dropped not fallen backwards. I don't know exactly what it means to be slain in the spirit or ev4en the true purpose of it from God's perspective so I cannot say what happened to me was being slain in the spirit but I will say this- I was never the same

This was covered by atwhatcost, lets move along and not start another thread on it.
You do realize that new people come along here all of the time don't you? If there is another thread, I certainly missed it. Who are you to decide what types of threads people can and cannot start? Leave the OP alone and take your bullying tactics elsewhere. It's still in some men in this world to stand up for women, especially older women, when they're confronted by bullies.

The one big difference between Christian Chat and many other Christian forum boards is that it does not infraction/ban people over doctrinal differences. I served as a Moderator and Administrator for four years here and I could go down a long list of persons (some of who I highly respect) that would no longer be here if we infractioned/banned users over doctrine.

CC bans people for being generally rude and insulting other users (not their ideas), we ban for blatant heresy (such as denying the deity of Christ). I always told people that they should be careful of what they wish for in wanting the staff to crack down because on the rare occasion that we have cracked down because the persons wanting the crack down were on the wrong side of the doctrinal fence.

Mind you, I have not read this entire thread so I have no idea what side of the debate you are on so please don't take this in some way to be a threat pointed at yourself.

The supposed being "slain in the Spirit" is not a biblical concept.

2. The biblical instances were few and far between, and they occurred only rarely in the lives of a few people. In the slain in the Spirit phenomenon, falling down is a repeated event and an experience that happens to many.

3. In the biblical instances, the people fall upon their face in awe at either what or whom they see. In the slain in the Spirit counterfeit, they fall backwards, either in response to the wave of the speaker's arm or as a result of a church leader's touch (or push in some cases).

We are not claiming that all examples of being slain in the Spirit are fakes or responses to a touch or push. Many people claim to experience an energy or a force that causes them to fall back. However, we find no biblical basis for this concept. Yes, there may be some energy or force involved, but if so, it is very likely not of God and not the result of the working of the Holy Spirit.

Read more: Is being slain in the Spirit biblical?

The Christians who argue against this phenomena really being from the Lord base their arguments on the following reasons:

Every time people fell when the presence of God would manifest, they would always fall on their faces, not fall backward.

Nowhere in the Bible do the prophets, the apostles, or Jesus Himself ever lay hands on someone and then the power of God comes through their hands to knock them backward.

The only time people fell in the presence of God was when God was rendering some type of judgment.

Is Being Slain In The Spirit Coming From God?

But the word of the Lord was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall {{backwards and be broken, and snared and taken}}. Isaiah 28:13

The actual 'term' of being 'Slain in the SPIRIT', we can read about the 'truth' in the 'epistle of Hebrews', as the 'function' of the 'Sword of the SPIRIT' towards 'astray' Christians from the word/teaching of CHRIST of the New Covenant/Testament in 'practices' and 'abiding' to them only and 'bear much fruit'.

Other than that comes from 'weak', 'imposters' and 'counterfeits' Christian men, sadly in their 'twisted misinterpretation' doctrine, apart from 'as it is written', who have 'gone ahead' of CHRIST of the 'written' New Covenant/Testament and the HOLY SPIRIT. And they do not have GOD in them to be 'convicted' according to the 'written' knowledge to 'repent'.

They may be considered as 'babes in CHRIST' and so please pray for them to 'come out' of their 'deceptions'.

Thank you, and may the Good GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless you all to react and respond in judgement, being 'just' and 'fair' to all.

We do not see any of this practiced or even hinted in the Scripture.
Those who advocate this practice need to consider what they are really attributing to the Holy Spirit. There is no Biblical precedent for being “slain in the Spirit.”

agreed no slaying in the spirit, but there are many references to being under the power of God.

Thank you for the clarifications.
