I used to have a few on my ignore list. I took them all off. If I am unable to hear someone differing with me, what does that say about me?
Glutton for punishment? Have no taste? Need an emetic?

But is it appropriate to counter with truth 500 times, those who refuse truth? What is worse, ignore, or giving them a platform?
well most time we should try not breaking any reeds with our walks and talks,

but yes sometimes even like Jesus , we want to just throw them out of the temple.

I'm sorry I'm not WoF. I'm a believer of our Lord Jesus Christ. I have never said once I believe in the name it claim it. I guess you can't take constructive criticism so I will let you be. God bless

Lol....all of the above! truthfully....I find it a good exercise to try try to take a high view of someone. My default position is the low view....to think the worst or focus on the worst. Asking yourself to see the real intention behind something that on the outside appears to be bad motivations or anger.

I've found this works in face to face interactions. Tell yourself that you love the person you are talking to and watch how your attitude changes toward them.

There are other reasons to put people on ignore than the simple fact that they have a differing view or opinion.

I never put a person on ignore just because they have a different point of view or opinion.
I have only put 3 people on ignore since being on here, and the reason was because of how they acted and treated others.

If a person is treating me or others badly that is the only way they end up on ignore, because if their behavior and attitude is going to be that way. Then what they have to say is not in line with God, because if it were the attitude would also be in line with what God said.

Some of you may have seen a post I put up addressing "atwhatcost's" question about what to do when confronted with deliberately of misguidedly posted false teachings. If you haven't seen it, it can be found here.

There continue to be a number of these false teachings posted lately by those who either know they are false and make the deliberate decision to promote their heresies, or they are tares who do not know they are tares, i.e., weeds instead of the solid grain of the Gospel. As I noted in that original post, I will not engage those fools again. They wish to remain fools, so let them.

The more false teachers and false doctrines are promoted here, the bigger my ignore list grows. I will not tolerate words preaching a different Christ, or the promotion of a false teacher to espouses a different Christ, than the Bible teaches.

So keep please, heretics, keep it up. It makes it easier for me to identify you and never have to tolerate the darkening of my screen again by your garbage.

I would urge others to do the same. When we determine not to tolerate lies, and choose to engage in true fellowshp with true believers, we will actually glorify God.
You've convinced me. . .long overdue.

There are issues that transcend plausible differences in difficult Christian issues, where there can be legitimate disagreement. But yes, when it's not really the same basic gospel, we're not called upon to fellowship with darkness. They really should just create their own threads, to, like, praise Creflo or Joyce, simple as that, not expect mainstream Christians to wallow in that slop.

To be fair...you labeled people as hateful and whatnot. That is as equally name calling as Mr Milktoast.

Your whole post is well worth the read, because you are absolutely correct. But I wanted to make particular note of these two comments within it.

I think that's indicative of Satan's work on not just this Christian forum, but I'd be willing to believe it is the case with all of them. Years ago, I was on a website with the name I just used to identify the types of boards I'm talking about. It was then, and I'm led to believe, still is, a maelstrom of heresy, unbelief, and dissension. I wouldn't go there if they gave me the site.
Amen on that one! A-E being the chief troll.

Been there. . .done that.

But we're seeing the same thing here.
I've been thinking the same thing for too long now.

These people who claim to be "filled with" and "led by" the Spirit make all sorts of doctrinal claims that are so obviously unbiblical that even a relatively new believer with some biblical knowledge can see. Yet these heretics refuse, even in the face of solid evidence, to cast these heresies aside.

It is a deliberate satanic attack on faith, designed to draw the weak and the unstudied into false teachings and thus destroy their effectiveness as believers. That is why it is paramount that we, as believers, reject them and yes, don't even debate them. They will not hear, and in arguing, they create the very division and strife their "father" desires.
Amen! That is the basis for my proposal. It is exactly what Jesus told first the Twelve, then the Seventy, to do when their messages was not received.

Plus, we need to counter their heretical efforts with solid, biblically-based discussions that reveal truth through the Holy Spirit who will use those messages to draw the new and the unstudied back to the throne of Christ.
Great advice!

What if we ask more question than making statements? Seems a more fruitful way to just allow someone to defend their position. Plus...what have we to fear?
that still encourages them to continue clogging all the threads on the board with useless clutter.

I don't know many Christians (and I know thousands) who, if they were a member of a Christian forum, would actually deliberately open a thread to praise another leader in the Body of Christ in the way you imagine. We encourage the brethren, but we do not need to single anyone out for exorbitant praise. Only Jesus gets the praise.

Your rather childishly expressed disdain for certain people and groups is obvious, and that smacks of what the bible warns us of being---namely, sectarian or partial.

Well I am sorry if you felt that way, as I get real emotional when defending God's word.
Sometimes it gets the best of me and I will seem a little harsh, yet I still refuse to bring myself to calling others names, belittling and demeaning them, and even going as far as condemning them.

I came here because I believed this was a Christian site to talk about God's word, but instead of friendly debating and showing of love. I have seen more hatred and misuse of scripture to rebuke others then I have ever seen in the Christian community, besides the ones everybody has seen on the news that clearly teach hate doctrine.

I have almost left here twice because of such unloving behavior going around, but the Holy Spirit keeps pulling me back to do God's work here..........

I think it chases the bad attitude away. If someone is pushing you do you push back or get out of the way? Seems to me there is this biblical principle of turning the other cheek.

I have always been of the mind that we need to know what the heretics are doing and saying in order to protect new folks in the faith, but because of all the fighting I've been involved with, I feel more like a tare than a child of God.

VW, I think you're right. Time to hit the ignore button, embrace the grace and enjoy fellowship with brethren who give thanks and praise to Jesus Christ for His awesomeness. New brethren in the faith will learn Truth regardless of the heretics.
Ok im thinking of making t-shirts, EMBRACE THE GRACE. i vote blue

I've heard his every sermon that's been on the radio, also my all time favorite, a gifted preacher and brilliant, deep Bible teacher. One of a kind, the Lord bless his gracious and Christ loving soul. Jesus Christ was always, always front and center with Adrian, this something immeasurable I learned from Adrian, making many other preachers seem lacking. A very hard act to follow, in the history of Christianity. He's still on the radio. I catch him about every weekday.
Thems is good words. . .
