Modestly, and to please her husband. How is that so hard?

And before I get yelled at, yes, the husband is supposed to keep himself fit, attractive, and well-groomed for his wife, too.
Yell at you?? Pfftt

Good answer, until she's unmarried. Just defer to patents then God

The pastor, really, wow!

I have to say none of the pastors, elders or Christians mature in the faith have made
comments to me, But they were Christians nevertheless.

yes

you know, sitting here, after a nice lunch with fresh bread and some mock chicken and spicy mustard, and thinking that the men who make comments like that or act in a way that suggests they are just like the world, may actually be just like the world

Neither you nor I behave or dress in a provocative way yet have been the recipients of remarks that were developing in mens' heads before they said them.

IMO, church is not really the safe place I wish it was all the time...but when you hear what men really think or maybe for the men what women really think, it's some men and some women really

Sadly, they kind of turn the whole bowl of milk a little sour...like the leaven puffing up the whole loaf

Each Christian woman should dress the way that God wants her to. And each Christian woman will look different. What matters is what's in her heart and the reason(s) why she dresses the way she does. Whatever types of clothing she wears, it should be in an effort to please the Lord.

And to the OP: While it is not wrong to correct women who are in error (God commands us via the Scriptures to do that with each other), you're not going to get very far if you point your finger at them and tell them what they MUST or MUST NOT do. They will bristle up in a heartbeat, as you have may have noticed.

I dress modestly...my point is, that if a man is gonna lust, he is gonna lust

the really ugly evil thing, is men looking a woman up and own who IS dressed modestly and trying to imagine what she looks like under her modest clothes

sorry...you are not a woman and have not had that done...I have had that done and I want to punch the man in the nose while he is doing it

And I am talking about in church...and even a pastor a couple of times

I have been pretty decent looking...getting older so I guess the attention will fall off...but let me tell you...men are gonna do what men are gonna do until the Holy Spirit gets a hold of them and their wicked hearts

For sure women have wicked hearts too...but there is no purpose to this thread other then to discuss women

Men discussing women and women reacting defensively

I answered your question? Really? and how about your choice of words.....listen...don't go all holier then thou on me cause it ain't gonne cut the cheese
Hey, for what its worth im sorry those things had happened to you..

Why don't we discuss: "How is a Christian Man Supposed to Hug a Lady?"

I'm scared to even get started with this. Some of the men who (in church) start walking towards me, I actually make sure to stick out my hand for a handshake before their hug. Some can be very insensitive about "private space".

Sorry to disrupt this thread - but this thought just came to me after hearing so much about dresses and women's behavior.

By the same token: "How Is A Christian Man Supposed to Dress?

Which of these men are not dressed appropriately for the Lord Jesus Christ?

oh my lands don't go there....yes, there is always the defensive handshake

but you see, it's still the woman's fault for being made that way

walks off and bangs head on wall...not too hard though

Hey, for what its worth im sorry those things had happened to you..

awww thanks! Please be assured I don't have general hangups about men...and don't think all men are a certain way because of some of them

women can be just as bad going the other way

I figure we are people first and it's the head and heart that matter

I take my cues from the women that I give hugs to. Some like full hugs, while others prefer side hugs.

Yea we have some huggers at our church that I try to avoid...they are mostly women and seem to be putting on some kind of show...My thought is that if I don't hug you in public or greet you in a certain way...why would I put on the whole church mask thing and pretend that on sunday im something different than on Monday? Just me..

I dress in pajamas when I'm home.. When I go out, I wear jeans or sweatpants and a tee shirt.. I wear men's sweats because they're more comfortable than my jeans are. :) Save the lecture about how women are not supposed to wear men's clothes, I doubt God will send me to hell for wanting to be comfortable.. lol..

Ha! I'm going to "yell" at you anyway. (More disagree, than a yell.)

Why do men or woman have to keep themselves fit, attractive and well-groomed, if the spouse married them knowing that wasn't their personality to begin with? Granted, it's good to be seen in public not disheveled, but that's just so the spouse doesn't feel like everyone is gawking. But home is where we can be who we are, and we're much closer to Laura and Larry the Cable Guy/Couple than a fashion statement.

If he felt the need to remain fit and well-groomed, then I would have had to keep up and vice versa. The eve before our wedding, he spent half an hour soaking his hands in bleach to remover grease and grim. (He was an HVAC mechanic, so that grim doesn't come out without a lot of effort.) I laughed at him, because part of what I love about him is how much he loved to be in grease and grim. I never expected him to do that. Didn't even know it could be removed with bleach. Had he asked me, I would have told him not too because bleach is too harsh on skin, and he has very sensitive skin.

Seems to me, if I don't care, what's it to anyone else? He's mine. I'm his. We love each other as-is. And sure enough, when we were younger we were fit and attractive. Now I have a bad back that doesn't let me exercise, even if I wanted to. And he has CFS, so exercise would hurt him.

Seems to me, "fit, attractive, and well-groomed" is an American fashion statement, not biblical.

Ohh and I'll add this:

David danced naked before the Lord. His wife Michal despised him in her heart and said that he was like "one of the base fellows who shamelessly uncovers himself". However, David wasn't being immodest; he was performing an act of worship, and in that particular instance, God accepted it. So it further proves the point that whether you're a man or a woman, it's what's in your heart that really matters before God.

I think ALL those men are dressed appropriately for Jesus. He doesn't see our clothes, he sees US. He doesn't care about what we wear, he cares about what's in our hearts. Do you think he thought it odd that Adam and Eve wore FIG LEAVES? I think not. lol.. :) Clothes aren't what makes us God's children.

I hope that was a one time thing...don't care to go to a service like that :)

Hold up, did Jesus and the disciples wear men's dress pants? or sweat pants?? Did they even wear pants at all??!? I thought they wore robes. How did it become a "manly" thing to wear long pants?

I wonder which of these women are dressed too inappropriately for Jesus Christ.
