I know all preachers aren't the same. I know all of them aren't all about give, give, give.
But it seems like everyone on TV is.
I haven't seen one TV preacher that came within a hundred miles of emulating Paul. He worked as an example. He took nothing above and beyond what he needed to survive.
These people have an awful lot of explaining to do on that day, and they will never get a chance to open their mouth.
When I think of all the people that this kind of money could help, that this kind of money could get the real gospel to, it sickens me.

The only TV preacher I never saw ask for money was Billy Graham.

I think it was Sunday before last people picketed Osteen's church and there were people inside that stopped the services by standing up and quoting scripture.

It's not just their insatiable desire for money, it's what they are teaching that is heresy.

For instance their doctrine of Identification, denies the physical nature of the atonement, asserts that Jesus became demonic and was "born again" in hell, and teaches that believers can be transformed into the incarnate God which is deification.

According to E.W. Kenyon that is considered to be the father of the prosperity movement, Jesus died two deaths on the cross: the first spiritual, the second physical. It was necessary that Christ die spiritually because sickness and sin are both Spiritual in origin, not physical.

Christ's physical sufferings and blood shed in death have no more power to atone and deliver than anyone else's.

According to Kenyon, "if His physical death paid it, then every man could die for himself. Sin is in the spirit realm. His physical death was but a means to an end." (What Happened, pg.47)

The way I see it, the Word of Faith/Prosperity Gospel preachers (and their followers) are just like Herod Antipas, because he wanted Jesus to perform a miracle (in other words, show off) for him. This was between the two times that Jesus faced Pilate.

WoF preachers and their adherents expect God to just show off for them and shower them with money, possessions and good health. Because "they deserve it", dontchaknow.

I think they did it because he officiated at the inauguration of Annis Parker the mayor of Houston and she is a lesbian.

I agree......they sure live lavish lifesyles and ususally do some "token" services so as to appear all righteous.....Labor so as to give to him that needeth is what the bible teaches.....not live in mansions and drive a Mercedes Benz......

The point? Do you actually read a bible sometimes?

Ezekiel 44:23 "And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean."
Hebrews 5:14 "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."

If you can't discern good and bad you will never be mature enough for strong meat. You do want to grow in His word and Him, do you not?

There are steps to identify if they are false or not as just asking for donations/tithes/money is not wrong in itself.....

1) Do they keep most of the money to just improve their lifestyle

2) Do you really know how much money they give to helping others, because if the majority of what they ask for goes to support the ministry and help others in need then it is not wrong

3) The bible shows the giving is to be done in silent, not to do it openly and make a show out of it

4) Is the money they are asking for on sharing the gospel, or is it for their own personal study guides or books they have written.

5) Can you hear them preach without having to pay ???

If you weren't talking about me, you need to be clearer when you post. I take that to mean in your reply to mitspa that "they" (me) posted the op because osteen officiated at the inauguration of a lesbian.

No I think it was that some have taken things past just posting truths into trying to cause conflict with other sincere believers...Just ugly religious and denominational type stuff.....so you say that Joel did something...but its not on the web??? anywhere? do you think that's odd?
