[TD]Jesus Cleanses the Temple

12And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.13And He said to them, "It is written, 'MY HOUSE SHALL BE CALLED A HOUSE OF PRAYER'; but you are making it a ROBBERS' DE
N."… Here is a bible topic, that will have many different views about it. Mine is throughout the NT Christ has been very loving and kind. Was he angry, for once, being human, what was happening, would it of been wise for him to just preach a sermon, and tell them stop it, not to do this in the temple, but he overturned tables, seats, and drove them out, I think with a whip, why do you think he reacted this way, I never read before his anger being shown, or it was right, being a human man.

Lord Jesus did that because they were corrupting the temple of God !!!

Jesus knew their heart and that it was full of corruption, and the bible gives us examples for us to deal with this corruption of God's word. We are to warn those who teach contrary to the word, and even tells us how to deal with those who call themselves believers but refuse to give up their sinful ways.

Calling a person out on a heresy teaching or a sinful behavior is not being judgmental as some have tried to say as they misuse how judgment is done as well do they misuse the rebuking and reproving the bible says we can do.

The anger of Jesus is not based on His being human.........well, in my opinion. God ALSO can be an ANGRY God. I'm pretty sure we are told this in Scripture.

I would think God would be very angry when people disrespect His House, which is to be a House of Prayer, and turn it into a den of thieves. Scripture says something like:

It's a terrible thing to fall into the hands of an angry God..........

They are doing the exact same things in all the churches. Cake sales, donuts submarine sandwiches, everything under the sun to raise funds, even percentages of websites, etc. I don't want to make a very long list, but this today in the churches is no different, they are selling things, and it's the same thing, so what should someone do.

Oh hi P Rhebein, you are right, in part, that God does and gets and is angry with the wicked every day. So what about the people today in the church, are they all wicked.

A den or robbers, what about selling submarines, and being told to put one slice of meat on the bread, not to feed the hungry, but so there will be enough to sell, one slice on a roll. Come on, Christianity is polluted and diluted, nothings changed, maybe just got worse. So now what?

yep. That is probably why that scripture says, be angry and sin not, don't let the sun go down upon the anger, meaning; were humans, and something caused that anger, sometimes a hurt, but it is time to forgive, before nite, or the devil will be your room mate. :)

Yes they do have bake sales, sale CD's and books that preachers have written, and so on..........

But we can not take and say this is necessarily wrong unless we absolutely know the money is not going to helping others and keeping the ministry going. It is not however to be used just to edify that preacher alone !!!

Here is an example of what took place in the temple that made Jesus make whips and turn over the tables;

A person would bring an animal sacrifice, the Pharisees would look at the animal to make sure there was no blemish.
And even if it did not they would claim they found a blemish making the animal unfit for sacrifice, then they would send them over to buy an animal from their flock. When they got there they would be told they did not accept their currency and had to go to the money changers to change it for the currency they did accept.

They would charge a fee for this money changing process, and then also charge for the purchase of the animal when the animal the person originally brought for the sacrifice had nothing wrong with it. Taking money from people out of greed and unfairly and using it for themselves !!!

I think they did this on purpose just to see what the Lord Christ would do. I think they conspired against him, to think bringing all those smelly animals, and some even would make poop right in the Temple, that is very derogatory of people to even think of doing that. It was wrong, of them.

The Pharisees were very bad about corrupting the word of God which is why Jesus called them out more then once and told them even that a prostitute will make it to heaven before they would because of how corrupt their heart is.

Their love was in self and not God, which is why Jesus said our righteousness has to exceed that of the Pharisees to see the kingdom of heaven. For theirs was self-righteousness and not the righteousness of God that comes through the fruits of the Holy Spirit !!!

If you recall he is fulfilling a prophecy concerning himself...The ZEAL of thine house had eaten him up......It was not necessarily anger that drove him, but a heart of zeal for his Father's house......!

This is true. There are some good Hebrew teaching, then there are some that twist the truth, almost poisoning the thought of others. I always said, it would be better to live in the days of Jesus, but it appears nothing but controversial mind bending debates and arguments, even about washing his feet, one of the disciples said, why wash my feet, and not my whole body, it must of been very hard for him, "Lord" to go through all that controversial essays, people had prepared. Even mocked and threw dice for his clothing. Today, he is with us in Spirit, and he loves us. I thank him, and love him.

You are absolutely right that not all in the church today are wicked, as some do still follow the true teachings of Christ.

It is also true that we live in the last days of apostasy teaching and wide spread bad doctrines, as I even saw a fellow brother just the other day say he is Southern Baptist but yet the way he speaks on the word comes from Calvinsim doctrine. I was raised a Baptist and our doctrine growing up was never based on nor agreed with the teachings of Calvin.

What ever that means, I'm on your side. :)
We have one or two who show up here now and again who think all believers are evil...........who do not believe in God and such........just pointing out that saying "NO" to your question can not be considered a unanimous answer.

:)
