"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,"

It always astounds me how Spurgeon foresaw the regathering of the Jews back in their land long before, even while the Land was a desolation. :)
Pray for it's peace. These are our real fore fathers, and runners of the Faith and the Torch, as Elijah gave the mantel to Elisha. We don't entirely stand in agreement with Israel, because of their rejection of Christ, but we stand in agreement of the Prophets, who shed blood, and their lives, for the God they loved, and left us many inspirations, as the book of Isaiah. WE talk about God's creation all the time, if we pray, yes then we forgive. TY. Truth spoken. There's a Israel Flag in my home, along with a few others, someone asks me are you Jewish, I say no, but someone saved my life who was. Yeshua.

In 1830, Alexis de Tocqueville, said of the USA: "America is great because America is good. Since the assassination of Robert Kennedy, this country has been slowly but progressively moving away from her goodness; and since the close of the 20th century has been rapidly declining in her greatness. This is not intended to urge anybody to disloyalty; it is just an observation of what appears to be fact.
George Washington our very first President, and ABe Lincoln, were believers, not to name others, Honest Abe was killed because he stuck up for taking the chains off slavery, and discrimination. George Washington, ideal of schooling was at home, and to use only the bible as it's teaching book, to learn to read, and write, and learn it's truths, and values. Now it is not allowed. Something is going to break, again, when hatred spins it's web, it catches the love and tries to poison our hearts, with coldness. We need to stand firm, and strong against evil that is spreading like wild fires. Words are like that, it catches onto you, and pray least we fall into temptations, of being just the same, some already you could taste the unpleasantness, and have departed from the faith, into what then, fear, and all it's unrighteous fruits on it. Some who say their believers already want to take away our freedoms of expression, creativity, and control us, they are only liars, that soon shall be exposed openly. Weve had many here who turned on those who express love, and truth. Thank the Lord they are now gone.

One thing I have noticed at least in the Churches I have attended over the years, very little passion or concern for our missionaries languishing in prisons and the persecution of Christians.

..Jkalyna, wait! Come back down to earth, we need ya in help getting the Gospel out and praying for those who do.:)
You know that wickedness, is spreading like wildfire, we stand because we once stood before the Cross, that dripped with his blood, we turn our backs only to walk away, and be the branch off the tree, that bears the fruits of righteousness, some have turned their backs, away from that cross, and walk in a dark place. I'm not leaving, not till I'm a 120 and more. So yeah stick around you too. lol :) And to those who don't appreciate conversation, you could leave, this is a bible study, and we are here to discuss, insults go to the moderator. :)

interesting, just months before JOHN F. Kennedy's assassination (1963), they took prayer and bible reading out of the classrooms.
In 1972, the day after I was saved I found out about and attended a before-school Bible Study in a classroom. We prayed too. Maybe they didn't get out that message to Virginia at the time.

BUT, the last public school in America stopped having a morning prayer with the announcements in the late 70's - early 80's. I remember this because it was the school I went to growing up in NJ.

I think Jerusalem is "the city on the hill," (God's people everywhere) not the city in the cross-hairs in Israel.

there are two Jerusalem.

God loves them both, and even though in the very end, the physical one will be destroyed with the world. That physical Jerusalem will have fulfilled in it all the promises God made to the fathers, which have yet to be fulfilled.

if the promises made for physical Jerusalem are not real. then the things promised to spiritual jeruslaem can not be assured, and our faith is useless.

God's not done with that city and His people either whom He will be dealing specifically with when He takes His Church home. But I think we've had this conversation before :)

JFK was a good president. stood up for the poor, not afraid to fight the wealthy tycoons and wanted to make peace with Russia. funny how the completely corrupt presidents never get shot.

Everyday there is death, and violence against christians, by the destructives of Isis. Why isn't the USA sticking up for those who are being put to death. How could parities go on, and cute dresses be worn by those in authority, when the smell of death, and sackcloth, is daily uploaded, as a joke on video killings, and the US government does nothing? Maybe some one has a good answer, because mine is {who cares} attitude and a blind eye to the suffering.
Ephesians 6:12
king James version(KJV)

12.)For
we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places

Since you're dismissing God and dismissing anything you could be doing to stare at the US government, why bring this up in the Bible discussion forum? This IS the problem. Even the visible church sits back and waits for the government to do something, when in reality we should actively be seeking God's direction. So, why blame an ineffectual means when your participating in that means by just giving lip service?

Spurgeon didn't know it, but this evening's devotional is directed toward Americans.
"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time is come. For Thy servants rake pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof."—Psalm 102:13, 14.
selfish man in trouble is exceedingly hard to comfort, because the springs of his comfort entirely within himself, and when he is sad all his springs are dry. But a large-hearted man full of Christian philanthropy, has other springs from which to supply himself with comfort beside those which lie within. He can go to his God first of all, and there find abundant help; and he can discover arguments for consolation in things relating to the world at large, to his country, and, above all, to the church. David in this Psalm was exceedingly sorrowful; he wrote, "I am like an owl of the desert, I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top." The only way in which he could comfort himself, was in the reflection that God would arise, and have mercy upon Zion: though he was sad, yet Zion should prosper; however low his own estate, yet Zion should arise. Christian man! learn to comfort thyself in God's gracious dealing towards the church. That which is so dear to thy Master, should it not be dear above all else to thee? What though thy way be dark, canst thou not gladden thine heart with the triumphs of His cross and the spread of His truth? Our own personal troubles are forgotten while we look, not only upon what God has done, and is doing for Zion, but on the glorious things Hewill yet do for His church. Try this receipt, O believer, whenever thou art sad of heart and in heaviness of spirit: forget thyself and thy little concerns, and seek the welfare and prosperity of Zion. When thou bendest thy knee in prayer to God, limit not thy petition to the narrow circle of thine own life, tried though it be, but send out thy longing prayers for the church's prosperity, "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem," and thine own soul shall be refreshed.
this wasn't worded right, when it said, my answer or attitude is who cares, turn a blind eye, it wasn't worded right, sometimes we are thinking of something different and typing another thing. It meant to say, what I think is happening, is the attitudes are "who cares, and why bother." Absolutely not mine, but a point of view of how things appear at this time. Sorry for the misunderstanding, it was kind of contradicting. Thanks for your input it does help.

It wouldn't bother me to see the USA take on ISIS in an all-out war.

It might not win. A nation who departs from it's God, is saying they don't need his help. God out of everything. A house divided against itself will not stand. The words One nation under God, has been divided, and at times omitted from the allegiance. It will be a darker day, when that happens.

The bible verse, if my people will humble themselves and pray for their nation, it says God will hear, and help. Last I know it's kind of out lawed to talk about Jesus, or wear religious things, or try to talk to others about him, because your then harassing people, and pushing your beliefs on them, this has happened. In the wilderness, Moses said, who is on the Lord's side, some went left, some went right, and the earthquake took those who were not on the Lord's side. So now, how many will publicly take a stand in the government and declare all out war with prayers, petitions, and declarations that the Ten commandments will be taken out of the closet, and declare and stand for the Bible. That would be a good day. The out look is bleak, like a thirsty beak, that is in drought, and in doubt of the existence of God.

I don't know if it will be destroyed, I didn't read that yet, but here's the thing. Some people think just because Israel is not christian, God did choose them, and Jesus was born of a Jewish Mother. He chose Elijah, to come back to earth, during the time of the anti Christ, and Moses, to be killed as REv. says, and they will lay in the street for 3 days and be brought back to life. The Old Matters extremely very much, because it shows the deliverance of the bond-ages of the Laws, and rules, that exceed our human capability to do, because we just can't. The Prophets were anointed, done miracles, fought for Israel, David, Solomon, and Jesus came from the blood line of the Tribe of Judah. Those who reject Israel are the Jihadist, and those who hate what the Lord is Jewish, and the Son of God, do not understand, the worth, the blood, sweat, and tears, of it's people, Abraham, though weak at a time in faith, what did God say to him, he told him that look up at the stars, and the sands of the shore, this will be out numbered at those who believe in me, by Faith, he is called the Father of Faith, because of taking Is-sac to Mt. Moriah, in obedience, and repentance of trying to fulfill what God promised by his own ways, by having Ishmael with an Egyptian house maid. It brought a divided family, as his wife told him, to send Hagar away and his son Ishmael, away. I think this broke his heart twice, but you see what disobedience does, and loss of patience. So those who have a problem with the Nation of our Fore Fathers, who shed their blood for a love of our God, the same way, they Loved, and we love, and have learned about him through them. It's Christianity that is not complete, without the fullness of the Jewish Culture, as even Christ said, "you then are a full Jew." Those who acknowledge him. NOt only was he Jewish, he was Orthodox. it is the strictest next to the ultra Orthodox, and then the Hasidic Jews, which we know lately is not freedom, just a life of reciting rules, and learning them. Jesus Christ said, "I've come to give life, and more abundantly. He knows about the Torah, the Rules, and most of All of being liberated. The HOly Spirit prophecy about Jesus in the book of Isaiah, which he read about his own prophecy, in the temple, oh sorry this is too long. But sweet. :)

sorry not to embrace the Traditional Cultures, but we could learn a lot from their discipline, is what I meant. :)

Interesting fact.....John Kennedy had a new currency printed and he was assassinated on the eve of the new currency going online which would have done away with the Federal Reserve.......The next day Lyndon Johnson ordered the destruction of the currency! Or so I have heard!

Study the US Constitution.

From what I was taught in grammar, juniorr high, high school and the University, we are guaranteed the right of freedom of religion. This means all religions on the face of this old earth.

Jesus Christ has nothing to do with Herod; so it is with the members of His Body in this age. I hope people here do not believe only the USA has citizens who believe Jesus Christ. If this is the case, the darkness is very great.
