God made the earth. He made night and Day. Hot and cold. And he created some vessels for wrath and others for mercy, even us the elect. He makes peace and creates evil. Praise the LORD for all he does.

Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light and create darkness: I make peace and create evil: I the Lord do all these things"

Let us praise the Lord and give thank to him for his salvation for he is in heaven and we are on earth. Therefore give him ALL the honor and glory due his name for he does as he pleases.

Psalm 115:3 "Our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he pleases"

People sometimes ask why bad things happen. They happen because it is the will of God. ALL things are in his hands. Thank you Lord for your mercy and your Grace. We are in the hands of almighty God who will never fail. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.

Just FYI, Sans Peur means "without fear" in French. Seems there are a lot of trolls tonight with nothing better to do than disrupt CC.

It is not a strange spirit. God is light. Evil is the lack of light and does not have any real existence on its own.

To a room full of light, darkness never enters unless you remove the light. Yet a little bit of a light illuminates a room entirely dark before then.

The devil, satan, and the other manifestations of darkness adhere to the lack of light. God has created the light and when we choose to stay in the cave, we have chosen darkness. We have chosen evil. We do not blame God for what we choose to do.

So when God says,

Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light and create darkness: I make peace and create evil: I the Lord do all these things"

He speaks the truth as the lack of light is darkness, as the lack of peace is evil. By creating light, darkness has automatically come into view not by itself but by the lack of light.

God did not create evil. Compare many translations, you'll find that the word 'evil' here is a very unfortunate translation.

My Bible says he did create evil......what would you change the word to say. I have studied Greek and Hebrew and I WILL look up the root word but for now it says he Created evil. Also I use the KJV and don't care much for other translations. It is a bit hard to grasp the concept of God creating evil but then that is what it says and I believe it.

Creating the potential for evil (allowing for self will in opposition to the will of God) is not the same as creating evil. God's will can be seen to be expressed in three distinct ways: 1) Sovereign. 2) Moral. 3) Permissive. His sovereign will is recognized through His act of creation. He did not consult us, and further proclaims that He will do as He pleases. His moral will is easily discerned through the commandments. Lastly, His permissive will allows us to oppose Him. We create evil through our own acts of disobedience, defiance, and rebellion.

I'm not sure why so many people hold the KJV to so high standards. I find that many don't understand what they're reading and that can cause a lot of strange beliefs and sometimes dangerous ones. Wouldn't it just be easier to read a Bible that you can understand?

And Magenta is correct, the word 'calamity' is appropriate for that verse, not 'evil'.

Or a more realistic view is either his post was removed by admins, or he deleted it himself.

As others have mentioned above, the 'evil' mentioned here is referring to calamities, troubles in the world, etc. It is not referring to the existence of sin, for example.

Of course, God is sovereign even over sin. But when we talk of "creation," it sometimes suggests that the creator is the immediate author of whatever it is that he created. God, however, is not the author of sin. Sinners are.

"Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions." (Ecclesiastes 7:29)

Yet, you're right to praise God that He is sovereign over all sin and calamities in the world. Since he's in control of these, we know they work together with the rest of His providential works for the good of His people. If these were out of his control, the world would be a scary place.

I can understand the KJV just fine and I like the Language and the way it is written. My problem with other translations is that men often try to make the scriptures easier to understand and only God can give the understanding of his word. Also when we are meeting together we ask that all use the KJV so as to avoid confusion. I can find no reason to change the word evil here. Another place where people want to change a word is in Romans where the scriptures clearly uses the word hated to describe Esau. I have even heard some go so far as to say he loved Esau less. My God can't love anything less and again it plainly says hated. But translations aside it is God who loves or hates and also creates peace and evil.

Yes, you're right in saying Holy Spirit is the only one that gives understanding of God's Word, but there's no need to complicate things by trying to read and understand an archaic translation. Might I remind you that the KJV was authorized by King Jimmy, not by God (well, not anymore than any other translation of the Bible, by nature of it being God's Word). Translation work has improved so much in the 400+ years since the KJV was first published. Seriously, language is hugely dynamic, but that doesn't change the truth of God's Word.

Tintin's right. But I think a lot of folks think of evil as a "thing". It's not really - it's an absence of a thing which God did create - that of good. Think of it like a hole. A hole would be nothing unless it were confined within dirt, so a hole is the absence of dirt. Another analogy is that cold is the absence of heat. There is no cold really and nothing has been created when one experiences cold other than the absence of the thing that is real and created and that has a real source - heat.
