What are your most hated words?

I hate the word "nope." It sounds condescending to me. I don't know why.

See it's not necessarily the curse word that is being replaced...I'm from mass so when I use it is as an adverb like that movie was really awesome....except instead of really I use freaking awesome...if I'm going to use a curse word I'll just curse...not that it's right or good I'm just saying :rolleyes: ...however if that word is a curse replacer couldn't you also suggest crud, crap, darn, darnit, oh my gosh, holy moley, etc are all other words that replace a more extreme "sentence enhancer" I'll call em that...

Not trying to start an argument by any means sister...I am just curious on what your thoughts are :)


So I don't derail I dislike when people don't know the difference between there, their, they're, or you're your or stuff like that...I'm sure they know the difference but they don't use it properly...not that I'm a grammar freak it just yea...I'm going to come out as a grammar freak so I'll leave it at that :rolleyes:

If I'm tempted to use an expletive, I just use the word "expletive" instead. Most of the time, anyway. Usually it gets a smile.
 
I don't like the totalitarianism of political correctness (whether it's being enforced by the left or right). I like people to be honest and real even when it's offensive.
 
"Nice." It's so ambiguous and morally neutral. It doesn't have the same positive qualities of the word "kind." Some "nice" people are among the most unkind I have ever met. "Nice" is also a common bi-word for weak. So why use it? Why attach a half-hearted positive quality to someone when you don't mean to say anything positive about them to begin with?

"Social Justice" is an intellectually lazy term people use to support leftist causes when morality and reason do not require action.

Then there is that annoying word "try." It usually means "use a half-measure and if the half-measure doesn't work, forget it."

"Space." Unless you are using the word "space" to denote the empty void between two objects, find something else.

I could go on.

Social Justice is the modern totalitarian system of morality. Political correctness is the laws and rules of propriety set up to service and enforce the goals of social justice.

I'm tired of the Right Wing intellectual class equating this plastic propriety and standard of decency with the real thing derived from Biblical notions of correct conduct. Trump's candidacy in particular is exposing them for what they are.
 
Sorry guys, off topic. Ageofknowledge touched a nerve, but it really does relate to language.

Most of the words I dislike have the common thread of relating to standards of political correctness.
