I'd say most of those suicides are precisely because people call them deluded, sick and crazy.
Four year old: "Mommy, I feel like a woman, not a man". Imagine how tough that feeling must be to deal with in a four year old, just on its own, without all the other social problems a kid has got. Then hear the response:
"Don't be silly. You're a boy. Stop that talk". His own parents won't even listen to him! My, my, parents that refuse to hear you as a genuine human. That's gotta be hard. How can you ever trust them with your honesty again?? Then see society's reponse:
"Yuck, look at the she-male". "Oh, he must be sick". "Get away from me, you wierdo!"
No friends, no family, nobody who understands you. Gender dysphoria and social leprosy. Certainly sounds like a recipe for suicide.
Maybe you should have some empathy.
If you were to look at my medical records, youd see that Im diagnosed with gender identity disorder. There was a time that I was all depressed about it and hated my life, and felt like no one cared and all that. But after being awakened and called by God, I realized it wasnt feeling I couldnt control, but an obsession I wouldnt let go of. I saw people who had something I wanted but didnt have, and even from a young age had set my heart on it. And growing up Id watch shows about people who actually changed their bodies and lived as the other gender (thank you Maury). And I set my heard on it even more. And when people would say things bad about people who were transgender, Id get angry and upset, and set my heart on it even more. But, none of this came from a gene I couldnt control, it came from an obsession over something I wanted that I let myself believe Id die for it.
Yeah, people become very sad over this. But, really. If someone is sad over what they dont have, is the right thing to really change all that is good in order to accommodate them to a small degree, or help them realize they just need to change their heart, and find ways to be happy with what they have?
Helping them see that happiness comes from allowing yourself to be content, and not from getting all that youve ever wanted, is not evil in anyway.
