I was saved I went to church for a long time. but what I seen around me didn't make sence. I voulenteered at a soup kitchen. the pastor that ran the place was very selfish. I didn't understand it. I became atheist after reading and rereading the bible. then I was fascinated with the book. so I studied it
I have to tell you, yahwey is evil in the old testament and not so good in the new one either. why does anyone have to die to take away a sin that cant be taken away. if you hurt someone would you apologise to that person or ask god for forgivness. I hate to tell you but your sin is your sin. if u ask god to forgive you, dosnt mean you didn't commite the act of sin. that's called scapegoating. also a term nvented by people who lived in the desert. you throw your sins on a goad drive it into the desert till it dies somehow your sins die with it

Enlightened....do you want to know God and his truth? Is that why you have come here?

ive read the bible. and I think critically of the allegd perfect book. if its perfect then how come we cant own slaves anymore. is man wiser then god?

tell me what I don't know or what I'm taking out of context
Any chance you can start your own thread? After all, this one is becoming more focused after umpteen some odd pages, but then you break the focus. Not saying you can't say what you want, but would you mind taking it up on your own post? Kind of like coming in on a deep conversation, but interrupting it with something unrelated.

If you want to learn about God and will ask and receive in a polite manner we are more than willing to help. If you keep on in this manner you will get banned and that will be the end of it.

I came here to have a discussion. a good discussion and mabie tell people how I lost my faith. it took a long time for this turn around it didn't happen over night. I don't regret it. I'm free now. I'm not a slave. I can make the best of this life I have.i will treat people better. not because god says but because its right. I don't care what anyones faith is. I wont judge. when I was Christian I did. America is at war with islam? why. because they believe the same thing you do. there religion is the right one. christens are going to hell. just what you think of them. if there were no religion there would be no one to hate for there beliefs no matter how silly if it don't hurt you you should be happy

really? all they did was complain the whole time they were going to the promised land.even moses got mad. instead of talking to the rock he hit it with his staff. moses or none of them got into the promised land but roamed the desert eating manna. what a deal they got

Good evening ENLIGHTEND,

Actually, just for your information, God told Moses to strike the rock once and his sin was that out of anger he struck it twice, which messed up God's teaching type. You see, the Rock represents Christ being struck once and by striking the Rock, out of it came living water, which represents eternal life. Further more, they did not enter into the promised land because they were not trusting in God, even after all of the miracles that he preformed. Moses didn't enter in because of striking the rock twice and of that generation only Joshua and Caleb entered in.

It seems these days, and for many day, people are still blinded by the veil of Moses. Otherwise,, they all would be able to read the "Old Testament" and see the grace, mercy and love of our Maker there, and most important, they would see Jesus Christ everywhere. It is a very sad state for many who think they believe. (I keep getting the nag, I must spread etc... so I will just have to put it somewhere else some other time in memorium.) God bless all in Jesus Christ...amen

What if I told you that observance to God's commandments from the Law in no way, shape or form could have the fruit of effecting our actions positively(and permanently) over the long term? What if following the Law actually stunted your sanctification, and actually works against you sinning less in your daily walk? What if I told you that observing the Law does not aid in sanctification? What if I told you the means to overcoming sin has nothing to do with observance to the Law but having to do with a renewal of your mind to who you now are in Jesus Christ?

Consider these questions as points to ponder, not to be answered one by one. My question to you, and in using your own words, is this. Is it God's grace and revelation of who we are in Jesus that "effects our actions in the correct way" or is it observance to the Law that does this? Does the scripture state that we awake to the Law and sin not? No, it says we "Awake to righteousness and sin not." So, I fail to see the correlation of observance to the commandments of God (the Law) and obedience to them as the means to a... victorious life, for if that was possible Jesus would not have needed to die and resurrect for us. The Israelites would've been righteous, surely, over the period of time they tried to obey the Law and were under it.

I know you aren't saying our righteousness comes from obedience to the Law, as you believe in saved by grace through faith. You understand our righteousness is imputed by Jesus Christ and we are justified in Him. However, I am referring to our righteousness in that of our daily conduct/living. What we are getting down to is sanctification, and so I suppose I could instead ask, "Do you believe the Law sanctifies the believer in his daily conduct?" I do not believe it does, nor can it and that sanctification is done as we renew our minds to the truth of who we are in Jesus and by the fruit of the Holy Spirit.

If what you present is remotely true, which it isn't, then we do have the right to be disobedient and still be saved, selfishly taking advantage of God's grace, saying "give me" and not caring two hoots about who He really is, or what He wants for us because He loves us so much. Our obedience to all of God's word doesn't construct a salvation in Jesus Christ, it confirms it. Matthew 4:4 John 8:31

It's all about a relationship, by us knowing who God really is, and God knowing us on a personal level as a friend.

"Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping." Psalm 6:8

"By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil." Proverbs 16:6

[SUP]"[/SUP]Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." Matthew 7:20-23

That is the defining line between whether we really have the Holy Spirit or not. At the end, you will know. Just make sure it's before you go. AMEN

why are there ten commandments but 613 laws? wernt they all commandments. it would explain y moses was on the mountain 40 day and nights. another question same story. y did thejews, after seeing gods power decide to worship a golden calf? and aaron was in on it too. mosses own brother who spoke for moses? also. when moses did come down with the commandments one of them was don't kill. the first thing moses did was to order brother to kill brother and wife and so on?
It wasn't the law that did it, it was the people doing it to themselves. Are we to only understand the physical significance, or under the New Covenant understand that people who continue embrace the sin of rebellion against certain parts of God's word will be destroyed by the righteous judgment of God in the end? Are we going to learn from this, or continue to reject it because we are unable to see the real truth behind it, and by that, confirming to ourselves that we do not have God's indwelling Holy Spirit living in us?

Exodus 32:26

Exodus 32:27

So barlygurl with that answer to what they did with it , let's go back to question 1 why did God make the law?
Look at it as a cause and effect.

Sin came first and then God's word came to define it because that's what keeps us separated from Him. By this we have the benefit to recognize the enmity. Sin causes enmity against God. Not God's spoken word.

Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:19

Then after the New Testament was complete the "beloved disciple" continues to define its purpose.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4

If the church doesn't minister it, surely the sinner won't recognize it.
Galatians 3:24 Matthew 28:19

I have more to share when the time comes, as I'm hinting at here, concerning doctrines that take apart the word of God like it was a bag a trail mix. Just waiting to see if anyone is really interested. LOL

More to share with those who reject (goats) or accept (sheep) any part of, or all, of God's spoken word. Matthew 25:32 If you are truly saved, what will you do when you are invited to the "Feast of Tabernacles" during the millennial reign of Christ? Of course, if you don't believe it to be true because of the "New Covenant" in Christ Jesus, you more than likely won't come anyway, even when Jesus is there. Here comes His "iron rod" to those rejectors of certain parts of God's word according to their false doctrines. Think about it, because all scripture agrees with itself without any fault, and see if your doctrine is of real faith, and not fiction. Are we looking forward to it, or cringing at the very thought of it?

Zechariah 14:16-19
[SUP]16 [/SUP]And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the Lord will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Every one that is left of all the nations shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. Whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, there shall be the plague (and) the Lord will smite the heathen. This shall be the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

If the church (right here, right now) fails to teach the spiritual truth of this feast, they will also suffer the promised plague, but more than likely will not be a participant the first resurrection anyway, because their names will not be
"found written in the book of life."

"Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire." Revelation 20:6, 10, and 15

I was just wondering how people can demean God's character be saying God did away with this or that of certain things He said previously in Biblical history. All that is revealed from a person that continues to say such things are showing that they can only see the carnal physical aspects of what should be seen as spiritual in the New Covenant. Can a person truthfully say that they have the indwelling Spirit in such cases, refusing to define, or being incapable of defining the spiritual understanding of God's spoken word?

God did not do away with His word in the sense that it has no significance or is not that it is no longer relevant. He did not do away with His word. I read His word in the OT all the time.

Romans 15:4
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

To say God did away with the Old Law is to say that the Old Law is not binding today.

Let's go back in time before the Law. Let's go back to Genesis 6. Noah and the ark.
So I ask, are you building an ark? Are you suggesting the command to build an ark is a command for all us?

And now let's go forward in time after the Law. Let's go to Galatians.
Galatians 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.

What is so important about circumcision? Paul says it availeth nothing! Really?

Now let's go back in time before the Law. Let's go to Genesis.

Genesis 16:9-14 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations. This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.
And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

So why did Paul say that circumcision availeth nothing?
Forward.

1 Corinthian 8:8 But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse.

That meat includes all meat. That meat includes the unclean animal meat as well as the clean animal meat. The distinguish between clean and unclean is identified in Leviticus. Leviticus? Yep. Part of the Old Law.

Okay, so what God said in the past is truth. Yes it is. It has a purpose. It's purpose in the time God spoke it may have a different purpose hundreds of years after it was spoken.

I'm not building an ark. But I can learn from Genesis 6.

I agree. The difference between the old and new is the difference between the flesh/carnal and the spirit, the old man and the new man. If we can only see the old in a carnal way, we haven't the spirit to enlighten us on the true way. It's that simple. Paul worshiped in Spirit and in truth because he taught that. He also believed in all things written in the law and the prophets. Again, it's that simple. Purposeful rejection of any part of God's word, because of the new covenant, is clearly due to a carnal mindset which is enmity against God.

As long as you mentioned it, another misconception about God's word is that physical circumcision was of Abraham, and transformed into a spiritual understanding, and humility of the heart in Deuteronomy 10:16 and 30:6. The New Testament confirms this, even by the words from Jesus' own mouth, reiterated by Paul himself. John 7:22 Romans 2:29
