It IS kind of strange to me that morning people seem to be a bit rare. I've worked a lot of early mornings and my co-workers would mumble threats at me for being so "perky".

Hey, I'm not saying I'm anymore awake than anyone else, especially at 2 in the morning. But once I get going... Trying to get other people's motors started (through jokes or a conversation) is just how I stay awake, too.

Great thread. Very much like the question. I do. A lot.

Love the quite early morning. Just a slight bit of sunlight.
Love the late night. Just as the moon is bright.
I can't have both. Will be too tired.
So I've come to think of sleep as a waste of time, robbing me of those quite awake times.

Sometimes I sit on top of a parking deck and watch the sun rise. I feel like I should have a guitar or something.

Early morning and being at work is much different than early morning with cup of coffee and bible. But even so, early morning at work to start is better than late time to start like 9:00 am. Nope. That's like the day is already gone.

It's horrible but I'm both... I go to sleep late and wake up early, I get most of my rest during the afternoon. I mean owls are a type of bird right? :)

We talked about this.

I'm glad to see you saved the jumper cables and the car battery for dates. You really should switch it with a golf cart battery though.

I propose a sleepy smiley. Or a yawning smiley. Or a smiley with cup of coffee. A grumpy grouchy looking smiley. That reminds me, I saw Obama on the news talking to king and queen from Spain. You should have seen the dull bored angry "get me out of here, I failed, my wife can't wait till my term is up, I hate this job" look on his face.

Obama is a sleeper.

And there goes Servant... always trying to ruin my fun with trivial things like... PRACTICALITY.

Bah.

(You're kind of right though. There was one former co-worker whom I specifically liked to torture with an EXTRA CHIPPER, "GOOD MORNING MICHELLE!!!" *Not her real name.*)

She would threaten me for the rest of the day. And that's what kept ME awake.

I'm not a bird, though it's the word...and I'm a "no internal clock/whatever time of day or night I have to be" type. I just like to think about it as living outside of time and space. Is that transcendence? *shrugs* Definitely still finite and mortal, though...so...

All this talk about Night Owls has me thinking about the song "Night Owls" by the Little River Band.

Which are you? I think I'm the owl. I cannot sleep and it's almost 2 in the morning. This happens a lot.
I wish I were a morning person. I think life would be easier that way. But even if I try to go to bed early, I toss and turn and cannot go to sleep.

But I actually like the night too. It's quiet and peaceful, the only thing I can hear is a cricket outside my window. This is the time I usually get motivated to write poems or stories.

Anyways, let me know which one you all are and if you like being that. I'm just curious....and bored lol.
Night owl, without a doubt, I usually put out my light between 2-3am, but then again, I don't get up until >10am...
