Awake still from shopping on Amazon. They had a Black Friday type deal for some reason. I only bought a few things because to be honest I thought the deals would be better

Some of us have insomnia, some of us just stay up because we can. Why not hang out since we're up? :D
Thank GOD I don't have an appetite in the wee early morning although I do love drinking coffee when it's that early and I'm online on cc.

Can't sleep anymore. Been having 2-3 hours of sleep in between 30-40hrs of being awake. How do you guys go back to sleep when you wake up in the middle of the night? Is it true that drinking milk helps?

I have stress-induced insomnia and intensive sleep deprivation tendencies. thanks to a career that consisted of eating, running, and shooting—the only thing I know is staying up for long periods of time. I tend to just listen to music and attempt whatever it takes to push my mind off the edge of existence. It is a training process, but hopefully you can find your relief.

Thanks, I did try listening to music, after I had milk lol. Didn't work today. But I'll try again next time. I work 12hr shifts for 2 days, every 2 days, and alternates between day shift and night shift every 2 weeks, so I think that's the main problem too. Sometimes when I'm really exhausted, sleeping's never a problem. Actually, now that I mention it, I might start working out again before going to bed. That should help too.

Warm milk is suppose to aid sleepiness. It's been said that if you can't fall asleep within 30 minutes of laying down, you should do something (or take something) to get you into more of a sleepy state. Whatever works for you; warm milk, breathing exercises, meditation/prayer, etc.

Personally, reading helps me wind down into a state that makes it easier to sleep. Barring using electronics for 30 mins - 1 hour before going to bed helps too.

I had cold milk that's why it didn't work lol. I should try warm milk next time then. Breathing exercises, does that ever work? I tried that so many times but maybe I wasn't doing it right cause it was never effective.

Actually, working out right before bed will guarantee you can't sleep. You get ll your I'm-awake-and-alert stuff working overtime in your body.

Yes. You're right though. You don't have typical insomnia. You have work-related induced insomnia. If at all possible find a job that doesn't rotate your shifts. (Preferably gives you daytime shifts.) Over the long hual it's the toughest thing you can do to your body.

Relaxation techniques might help. (Trying milk is about even with taking a baby aspirin for a migraine. It does do something, but not even close to enough to make it worthwhile.)

Yes, it's because of the nature of my work, which I've had for 7 years now. Hopefully I get a job with a better schedule next year, but for now, I'll have to find ways to be able to rest. Alright, then, I was really planning on biking before going to bed lol but thanks for pointing that out. I'll try the milk technique in addition to prayers lol.
