Why Called the Feast of Tabernacles ?

During the Millennium, the Kingdom of God into which we may be born will rule the nations
which are composed of mortal men begotten by the Spirit of God. The billions of mortal men
alive during the Millennium will still be heirs to the Kingdom of God.

They will not yet have inherited it as long as they remain mortal flesh, for “flesh and blood cannot
inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 15:50). “Ye must be born again”—“of the Spirit”—
to inherit the Kingdom, said Jesus.

Remember that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were merely heirs when they dwelled on Earth
While heirs they dwelled in tabernacles, or booths, sojourning in the land of promise.
Booths, or temporary dwellings, pictured that they were not yet inheritors. Thus we read of
the Feast of Tabernacles that “Ye shall dwell in booths seven days …

That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel
to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt …” (Leviticus 23:42-43).

The Israelites dwelled in booths in the wilderness before they entered the Promised Land.

Those booths pictured that they were only heirs. Even during the Millennium, when the Kingdom
of God is ruling over mortal nations, the people will be only heirs to the Kingdom.
They must overcome and grow in knowledge and wisdom to inherit the promises.

What a marvelous picture God says of Ephraim (a type of all Israel) that they will “dwell in tabernacles,
as in the days of the solemn feast” (Hosea 12:9).

Israel, in the wilderness, was a type of all people who must go through trials and tribulations
to inherit the promises. They were wanderers, waiting to inherit the promises of salvation.

The Feast of Tabernacles is, strictly speaking, seven days long—to picture the entire Millennium.
Seven is God’s number of completeness. Therefore, there must also be seven festivals.

Let us notice where it is mentioned: “The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast
of tabernacles for seven days unto the Lord. … [O]n the eighth day shall be an holy convocation
unto you … it is a [day of] solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein”
(Leviticus 23:34, 36).

This eighth day, technically a separate feast, is called “the last day, that great day of the feast”

KohenMatt,

oh what joy you bring to us, your un-self-conscience expression from your sincere heart!!!
because, the 'Feast of Tabernacles' is the most 'joy-ful-time-of-the-year...
we absolutely Love the Sabbaths and the Feasts....

they are 'prophetically proclaimed directly, indirectly, symbolically written in the Holy Scriptures
both in the 'OT and the NT for our world's eventual 'enjoining' of the unity of the Spirit of God'....

for it is written;
'For all nations shall come and shall worship before Me'....

it is written, again,
'Every knee shall BOW.'

just as a personal note,
this time of year, we will pick a Book pertaining to the Feast of Tabernacles, and this year we chose
the Book of Zechariah' - which means, = The Lord remembers and what promise can God Forget?....

Zechariah' has the Feast of Tabernacles written all over it...(concise version, ZECH. 1:11.
'So they answered the angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said,
"We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold all the earth is resting quietly."
the myrtle branches are one of the branches waved in the 'celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles.'

ZECH3-3-4.
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and was standing before the angel,
4.
Then he answered and spoke to them who stood before him, 'take away the filthy garments from him.
"And to him he said, "See, I have removed your iniquity from you, and I will clothe with festal robes.

(this is signifying the changing of the garments from the 'Old-World to the New World GARMENTS
NEW KINGDOM GARMENTS.!!!,
(((ROBES OF RIGHTOUSNESS)))

ZEC 12,13,14. - A Kingdom Prophecy (they are mourning for the one they have pierced)

the phrase, The Feast of Tabernacles' is stated (3)times in the chapter, twice is for emphasis - (3)times,
is for driving the point home with a firey, emphasis. the beautiful part of the scripture and prophecy, is that we
discovered what was revealed in chapter 12 & 13, this is the part where the families, that have pierced our
Messiah are going through a period of mourning, as one mourns for his only Son, and grieves for his first born,
every family shall be by itself, the House of David, the House of Nathan, the House of Levi, the House of Shimei
They are in the order of King, Prophet, Priest, and they shall mourn apart from their wives- this is significant.
.
there is only 'one other place in the Bible in the scriptures where this separation of man and wife is required,
and that is at the covenant at 'Mount Sinai. - in short, 'they BROKE the RULE through FORNICATION = they
fornicated in honor to the 'golden-calf', the euphemism they rose-up-to-play.....

ZECH.13:1.
IN that day a fountain shall be opened for the House of David and for the inhabits of Jerusalem for sin and for
un-cleanness.'

the real beauty and the glorious new-start is understood in the word, 'uncleanness' - in the Hebrew, the
word is Niddah, and what this refers to in the Levitical Law is that a woman is considered unclean during
her period, and the reason she is considered, 'unclean', (not-sinful), is that she cannot fulfill the scripture,
'be fruitful and multiply. = simply because the womb is considered dead at the time and she cannot bear
children.
in the period of time after a woman bears a child, she is considered 'un-clean' for a certain number of days,
again, this is 'not sin', but the beautiful part of the translation of the word Niddah, is that the curse placed
upon Eve, because of her disobedience shall be 'removed' by the cleansing fountain that shall be opened...
the scripture of this 'fallen-world', is that we are all conceived in sin, we are 'born into sin' , it is in our DNA...
but in our Father's glorious Kingdom, the 'curse' is washed away, no child that is ever born will ever be
conceived under the curse of sin....every child shall be conceived in RIGHTEOUSNESS.,,, no wonder it is written,
"I will wipe away every tear''.

oldthennew. Wow! That was aw-inspiring.
I just finished reading Isaiah chapter 11. Putting that together with what you wrote is definitely worth praising and glorifying the Lord or God and Savior!

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Isaiah 11:9

>>>The moedim are likewise rehearsals of God's 7000 year plan, culminating with the marriage of The Messiah to His bride.<<<

Excuse me:o. I have an unresolved difficulty... it looks like this might be a good time to ask. THE BRIDE... can you please explain the bride. I was taught the CHURCH was the bride in replacement theology, then it was the NEW JERUSALEM, another time ISREAL. The text of the seven virgins are the "churches" and then Jesus speaks of the wedding guests (believers), because we can't be "sons" and the daughter- in- law at the same time. I have never resolved this issue and... to be honest... have avoided much revelation study because it is HARD to understand. Could someone address this?

IMO, the Song of Songs [Sheer Sheerim] (Song of Solomon) seems to indicate that the Church is the Bride; long before replacement theology was thought of.

Mention of the bride in Rev 21:2-9
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9 And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
KJV

seems at first glance to say that the Bride is the New Jerusalem; but thorough reading of the passage, IMO, strongly suggests that the inhabitants of the New Jerusalem (the Church) are actually intended.

I agree. The "place of peace" ( the new Jerusalem) is the place where the bride resides.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Psalm 122:6

Pray for the kingdom of God. His bride.

I just got done reading the through all of the Johns with several of our youth, and we'll be starting up Isaiah when we're done with Sukkot. It's always encouraging to see the youth commit to reading the Word, and sharing what they get out of it.

This year I'm reading through the whole Torah at Sukkot per Deuteronomy 31. It's quite a commitment, but I have been blessed so far!

This year I'm reading through the whole Torah at Sukkot per Deuteronomy 31. It's quite a commitment, but I have been blessed so far!

Deut 31:11
11 When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
KJV

Deut 31:11
11 When all Israel is come to appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel in their hearing.
KJV

And more specifically,

Deuteronomy 31:10-11
"Then Moses commanded them: “At the end of every seven years, in the year for canceling debts, during the Festival of Tabernacles, 11 when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose, you shall read this law before them in their hearing."

KohenMatt,

we can only imagine what it must feel like to not only be ministering to the children,
but to just know that our Father wants you to feel the freedom and liberty of being
released not only from financial burdens, but also from the debt of sin.....
it's no wonder that it is considered the Greatest Feast of the Year -
what an awesome thing it is that our Father provides for us and lets us
continually walk in His liberty, it is truly a time to rejoice, rejoice, rejoice......
;):)
