I wonder if being gay is a bigger sin than stealing. I will have to find out from Christ one day...

I can only pray that my brother came to know Christ before he killed himself... then there might be hope for him... People are so insensitive.
Well then.... thank God you aren't a pastor. Some pastor, somewhere along the line, might have decided YOU were an undesirable "wolf" for some reason, and run you off.

Yeah, interesting to think what you would have said to Noah, Jonah... and Jesus who said "Repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand"...
But let us rather teach grace because that is the "new" concept of the church after Jesus died on the cross (or so I am told). Maybe Noah, Jonah and Jesus would agree with the new grace teachings... maybe not.
What new grace teaching??
There are people telling us that grace is a new covenant concept. I was interested to find out if Ben was one of them.

FreeNChrist- He means the idea that you can be saved in sin through grace, like taking the not being under the law thing as meaning not that we are no longer saved under the law but grace to meaning there is no law, and that no matter what you do you will be saved if you just believe, which is why we have people who consider themselves followers of Christ, but continue to live under homosexuality and enjoy it. Its not what God wanted.

I cant account for all street preachers,whether they preach right or wrong.Some do,some dont. But remember that John lost his head for the way he preached. He told the king he was an adulterer out in public. There was a reason the disciples ended up in prison. I think you need to have a balance when you preach. People like Billy Sunday saw many people come to the Lord and he didnt sugar coat anything.I was in a huge church he preached in in Massachusetts,stood behind the pulpit he preached from.He had that church filled to capacity when he preached. So yes preach grace but condemn sin.We need to be convicted to change our lifestyle.

I was reading a sign a street preacher was holding up and it said, "Stop sinning!" and I thought to myself, "Why doesn't he practice what he preaches?" For that matter, anyone stating to another to stop sinning is a hypocrite, because we are all in need of Jesus Christ. The preacher himself still sins and still needs Jesus. There is not a moment in our life that we have somehow met a standard where Christ is no longer needed. We are dependent upon Him, and the reality that He has imputed His righteousness to us. We are, indeed, saved by grace through faith.
Telling a sinner to stop sinning is like telling water to stop being wet. Its illogical. The fact is we all fall short of God's glory and we are all completely and solely dependent upon Jesus. The preacher doesn't need to tell people to stop sinning, he needs to tell them to believe in Jesus Christ who saves them from their sins! The preacher needs to get his eyes off of sin and get them on Jesus, in the same way he needs to lead people into stop looking at themselves (self-righteousness) and look to Christ as their savior (righteousness that is of faith).
Everyone wants to focus on sin when the focus should be on belief in Jesus Christ. It's a matter of perspective, and perspective matters. Yes, sin is transgression. Yes, sin is terrible. Yes, sin's penalty is death. Guess what? Its been paid! Jesus Christ's work is finished! Whoo hoo! The way to reconciliation has been made, and it is through The Way, Jesus Christ.
You have sin? We all do. However, get your eyes off your sin and get them onto your Savior who has paid its penalty, once and for all! Praise God, Hallelujah! lol
No one jump to conclusions and think I am saying people's sins shouldn't be addressed and overcome. Don't misinterpret what I am saying. The fact is, we have victory over sin in Christ. Sin doesn't dominate us for we are not under law but grace. We have died to sin and are alive unto God. People don't overcome sin through condemnation, but revelation of the victory that is found in Christ.

Well as long as you are on page that a person after coming to Christ can not continue to live those sinful lifestyles then all is good, but if you believe they can continue to live that way you then are misinformed.
The bible clearly states people that continue to live willful sin lifestyles after coming to the Lord, are trampling the Son of God underfoot and disrespecting His sacrifice by treating His blood as a common thing. Meaning it has no power for remission to them that continue to live such ways.
We are to show love to everybody but in that love comes truth in the Word, and eventually and in times the bible shows that tough love is needed to get one to turn from their wicked (sinful) ways so that they will not be condemned with the world.
Continuing to live willful sinning lifestyles shows evidence the Holy Spirit does not abide in a person !!!

I think we're kind of saying the same thing but coming at it from a different angle. Jesus told people to go and sin no more,so He told people to stop sinning really if you think about it.Now I understand Jesus was sinless. We shouldnt be haughty but humble because grace has saved us. I dont have a problem with a preacher calling sin sin. But again we preach a balanced message.
