amen sis, it is getting to the point of being mind numbing (to say it nicely)
Kinda why I've bowed out of these legalists threads for a while.

1. There is no end to them as man's pride keeps marching on.
2. Let the blind lead the blind, they'll both fall into the ditch.
3. Time is too precious than to always be battling the locusts.

yeah...keep talking...I'm starting to understand you a whole lot better

I see nothing to want to emulate

we should be following Christ...God has created us to do the good works HE want us to do...not the ones that get a pat on the back from our buddies or the ones that some think puts them to the front of the salvation line

every single time you state that those who believe there is nothing they can do to earn salvation and nothing they can do to keep it, believe they can continue in sin or never have to do anything...EVERY single time...that you make that type of comment, you are not being truthful

we have disavowed such things over and over

again, this appears to be what you consider as your strongest argement...it is the weakest link in your chain

Please would a few of you stop with this whole works to earn, or works to maintain salvation bit !!!

This is a lie that nobody is saying and if you claim we are making false statements on others, we would appreciate it if this false allegation would stop being used to.

This thread is getting derailed because of these false allegations, take it in PM or move on !!!

that, is the work of the Holy Spirit
Ember, I agree with you, you can only see Jesus by a work of the Holy Spirit.

Unless love has captured our soul, turned us round and built us up, all else is just religion and dogma.

There was a young man who knew all the theology, but just was cold to the gospel. His father years later came to him after being diagnosed with cancer, and they finally started expressing the love between them with the phrase "I love you."

The young man suddenly realised who Jesus was and had become real to him.

I know if this has never happened to you my words will be empty. It does not invalidate them or the gospel, but it does illustrate the problem of the kingdom, even among those who know all the theology and have such church and emotional experience.

So here we stand. But I still hold with, who do you say "I love you" to in your life?

I see nothing to want to emulate
This is condemnation and judgementalism on a christian brother. It is an exaguration. So faith in Jesus you do not want to emulate. A desire for righteous obedient living you do not want to emulate.
An honest appreciation of scripture you do not want to emulate.

Taking the meaning of the words and the example before you are not a believer.

This is a remark of thorns. Beware this language or intent because it does not lead to goodness, love or even grace.

Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Matt 5:11

A conceptual flip-over of ideas, makes us the law keepers and those who talk about grace without right living, followers of God. For me the argument has always been with sinners, does God love us? Will he be able to make us into people we can be proud to be?

I think the answer to this question is yes. If the answer was no, then we could not be a light on a hill, a people loving each other in love, having the same heart as God.

This is what Jesus hoped for, prayed to God that we would become. We are not saying we have achieved this but just saying this is what Jesus is saying is to be a hypocrite. A hypocrite is someone who sins but hides it. If we are not hypocrites but speaking the truth, then we stand with Jesus. So I say Amen.

Actually, works of law are works for salvation. So if someone is promoting works of law then we have every right to say that they are saying that works of law have to be done to be saved.

Yes this is right and since being on here and even talking to some out in the world I have heard all kinds of outlandish things that do not align with the bible:

1) Saying we can not know believers from unbelievers, when the bible says we will know them by their fruit

2) Saying we do not strive to be good or do good works, when the bible says we are created, predestined, and we are to strive to be good, and to encourage others to do good works.

3) Jesus fulfilled all on the cross, when the bible shows there are still things unfulfilled and He fulfills others through us by walking in love.

Deaf, dumb and blind............it seems to be a coven, my honest opinion.

I don't know about that but the bible says there is simplicity in Christ, and I see a lot of others trying to complicate the word and make private interpretations out of it by going by man's doctrines.

Jesus Christ said to the hypocrites.....You rue the traditions of man as commandment from God."

Those who are against obeying God are actually putting forth a tradition of man as a commandment of their own saying it is God's... It is not.

Disobedience is likened to witchcraft by God............in other versions likened to idolatry, and so it goes.

Another lie that nobody is saying as nobody is saying the works of the law (keeping and obeying the written ordinances of the Mosaic law) is needed or applies in the new covenant for salvation.

Please move on and get over this false allegation, and please do a study on what the "Perfect law of liberty" is and what it entails. Until you do and can then discern between it from the Mosaic law then we have no more to say as this keeps going around in circles !!!

What other things remain unfulfilled?

Also Where in the bible does it say to "strive to be good". This is contrary to everything the gospel is about.

Yes our Lord Jesus gave a few examples of being disobedient, and He said in two of those cases that the disobedient will be cast out into outer darkness and appointed with the unbelievers !!! Matthew 25, Luke 12

What I don't understand is Christians with an "i can't so why even try" attitude. Do you really think God wants you idle, alone, and helpless? I've heard it said before, "God helps those who help themselves ." It seems that some ppl think that faith is all you need. The demons have faith in who Christ is

You can't understand if you entertain such a false characterization.

Luke 13:24
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

Colossians 1:29
Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

Here is just a couple of scriptures about striving to do His will in our lives, and as for things that are unfulfilled..............

Most of Revelation, Feast of Tabernacles, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and some prophecies from the OT such as Isaiah 21.

so why are you trying to enter the way ever other religion on earth is, on your own merit.

Why not do it the narrow way. By humility and faith?
