Not really, sports were still used by pagans to worship their gods. Yeah, people who watch sports now /arent/ worshipping these gods. Am I worshipping them by putting spider webs and pumpkins on my front porch?

I cant see the difference between the two of us, here.
You would be hard-pressed to prove that baseball was created as a form of worship to other gods.

Halloween? Quite a bit easier.

Sports worship as idolatry should be no stretch for any Christian.

I agree completely. There are plenty who treat sports so importantly that they could be considered idols.

You dont have to prove that sporting events were used by pagans to worship their god, its a fact :p

Is basketball being used to worship demons? No. Are Christians worshiping demons by decoration their porch with webs and eating candy? I dont see how. Whats the difference between the two?

Every Christian church in our town does a trunk or treat...harvest celebration..etc. Allowing Christians and those curious about Christianity to see that it's a family loving gathering in a safe environment with plenty of Christian activities...candy...all with bible verses on...Christian goodies and games. It is a great out reach. If we as Christians cannot take an opportunity to reach nonbelievers and simply stay silent or turn or porch light offs. What good does that do? Pretty sure silence has never led any one to our savior!
We do trunk or treat at my church and I enjoy it for all the same reasons as the above post

The difference is that haloween was created for the sole purpose of worshiping other gods.

Baseball wasn't.

Halloween was originally a time of preparation before All Saints Day and All Souls day. The Halloween of today is secular

Can you watch a sporting event and still keep your heart on the Lord?
Funny you ask that, Brother. I went to an NFL game yesterday, and some folks there were ravenous about the players and the game itself. For them its definitely a form of worship, and I wondered what God was thinking as I watched them. Thankfully for most folks, sports is just a release from every day trials and tribulations.

Where in Scripture does God say that you should engage in pagan activities in order to share the Gospel with those participating in them?

On the other hand, where in Scripture does God say to be set apart and have nothing to do with darkness?

All thoughts and intentions aside, what does Scripture say about this?
So your righteousness is NOT celebrating New Years Day, MLK Day, Ground Hogs Day, President's Day, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Palm Sunday, Easter, Arbor Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, D-Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Black Friday, and Christmas? Good question. What does scripture say about this?

Nothing.

It also doesn't talk about raspberries and chocolate, but I celebrate them too.

You post this, but you have the logo of a sports team as your avatar?
This in an earthly thing. And also even has pagan routes, as many pagans used sporting events as a part of their rituals. The mayans, for example, had a game that included a ball and a goal to put it in as a way to pick out sacrifices to their god.

Are you totally in line what what you are preaching?
For the Mayans, the ball was someone's head. The game kept going until one team was too tired to keep playing. They were the losers and were killed for the loss.

I'm pretty sure his avatar is there as a sign that he likes that team and sport. Not to show it off as some pagan thing. MY avatar is of a ladybug. :) I like ladybugs, so is it pagan of me to put one as my avatar?? NOPE. :)
Only cuz it's blue. (Since you asked.)

The same thing could be said of any single thing.. How's your avatar of Helga from Hey Arnold? It can become worshipping cartoon characters.
And whereas sunrises are evil, I'm hoping your avatar is a sunset.
(Eeek! I've eaten too much candy and lost most of my teeth.)

Wow, that's a HUGE stretch right there any Yoga instructor would be proud of.;)

There is a large difference between a game that happens to be played by pagans,

and a day created by pagans solely to worship another God.
Actually, Halloween is the eve before All Saint's Day (thus "Hallow Eve"), a day to remember the martyrs in Christianity, so you're making our argument. Thanks.

hah hah.. well then, your teddy bears are pagan too. lol :)
Probably. lol

It does dawn on me, I'd be less scared of ladybugs if they were blue. In nature red is often a warning. (That and I like blue as a color.)

And I've bought ladybugs to put in my garden, so my fear factor isn't that high. I just don't like the feeling of six very tiny legs crawling on my skin. Could be a roach or ant. Eeek!

Blue ladybugs actually exist. There are two varieties, a steel-blue one and a silver-gray one. One is found in Australia and was introduced to certain parts of the U.S. and the other species is entirely indigenous to the Caribbean. Here's what they look like. :)
