Which translation is that?
It's from the Lexham English bible which, for this verse, is a very accurate translation of the Greek. I used to translate it myself when posting it until I realized it's in the LEB. Now it's an easy copy/paste.

Thank you and Amen. Ascribing to certain Protestants here the belief/saying that they promote the idea that works saves is simply wrong. It does seem to be a very nuanced point, but one made often. The point being, if we are saved, we wish to do the will of the Father. Jesus said, "If you love Me, you will keep My commands."

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them."

"Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them."

"If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commands and remain in his love."

We know that we have come to know him if we keep his commands.

In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome,

And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

These are very good and we should add one more.

1John 4: ~18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

If we love God and obey what He asks us to do then we have that love relationship with Him and if there is love then there is no reason to fear.

Great theology but not what is written in the bible.

Its great that on this website so many accept there I no law of righteousness in place. But the downside is soon as you mention the word law a few are up in arms as if its a hanging offence!
False characterization. There is the law of Christ and there is the law of Moses. The offense is going back to the law of Moses.

Amen. I thought of the greatest commandment as well, but figured we should all know that one :)

I see something at work in my life. I lived not for GOD and then i came to the knowledge of GOD. From the time i understood that Jesus Christ of Nazareth is The ONLY WAY, The ONLY TRUTH, and The TRUE LIFE until now are a stark contrast. I came to that knowledge but i still smoked and did other things in my life that were not according to HIS statutes and HIS commands yet, i was changed.

By the grace of GOD HE used me time and time again and revealed HIMSELF to me over and over though provision, protection, divine appointment, and sending others to me and me to others to minister HIS WORD and do HIS will. from that time i began to become convicted of certain things i had with me in my walk, one by one GOD gave me the opportunity to be set free of these things that hindered my relationship with HIM. HE not only convicted me HE also gave me the strength to submit myself to HIM in the matters and it made quitting that sin completely different then when i had tried on my own. It was easy to say no to my flesh when it was tempted. that was grace and the power of GOD working in my life. GOD has been very patient with me in my walk....and HE continues to be thanks be to HIM alone.

I believe i am not saved by abstaining from sin or keeping the law, i believe i am pleasing in my FATHERS sight, that by seeking HIM and HIS statutes and commands and diligently seeking to follow HIS example and instruction i am growing in GOD and becoming conformed to the image of HIS SON.

It's a good bible. Made by the Logos team of translators.
There are so many it seems like too many, for keeping track of which is word for word and which is literal or paraphrased is too much for my feeble ageing brain LOL.

I don't use any translation any more except for posting here. I use interlinear bibles. Two very good free ones are at the two left links in my signature.

Don't put yourself down. I reckon you know more than people who scour through all these different translations/ lexicons and the Greek translation.
My hunch is you probably just rely on the holy spirit, the greatest theologian of them all

Which version do you use? I use various ones, having no problem with KJ myself though not quoting from it due to being aware that others do not like it...
I have several versions not married to one....but I copied and pasted out of internet Bible translations some KJ some NIV. I think a lot of them from biblehub.com many translations there....

That's the way I see it. Why then do some here spend so much time obsessing about the law?
Haven't got a clue. I just know God doesn't want me to lie, kill, steal, covet, things like that and some folks seem to take offence at ne knowing those specific things. But though I know them, I know obedience is by looking to Christ and trusting him to continue my sanctification through the power of the holy spirit
I know love fulfills the law, but that doesn't stop me knowing specific ways in which God wants me to live, and in my heart wanting to obey

That's your attitude towards GOD's holy word? Wow...
This is really sad.... I am copying and pasting from God's holy word and using few words of my own...I would think rather that is showing respect to what He has to say and don't pay attention to what I have to say which is what most do anyway.... Then if one just pontificates their own word everyone is screaming where is the Bible... My point to you earlier was it was God's word not my own just a copy and paste. So God said it one of His appointed people wrote it...not sure who translated it....

We are saved by grace...but God's law is still valid...it is still the rules of His government His words do not change. God does not lie. Satan is the father of lies....sin is transgression of the law and the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Ephesians 2: 8For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;
