So Huffington post reporting on the shooting in CA appear to be mocking prayer.

Another Mass Shooting, Another Deluge Of Tweeted Prayers

Headline reads...[h=1]Another Mass Shooting, Another Deluge Of Tweeted Prayers[/h][h=2]Seems to have been an ineffective strategy so far.[/h]

maybe they are mocking tweets. :)
Don't think so..."Public officials are the people society trusts to solve society's ills. Like, say, gun violence. But every time multiple people have been gunned down in a mass shooting, all these officials can seemingly do is rush to offer their useless thoughts and prayers."

The conservatives are offering up prayers while the libs are clamoring for gun control.

Even though I'm not surprised that the left wing Huffington Post would have writers that have these ideological stances, it's still shocking to see =/

"Who is the Almighty, that we should serve Him?
And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?" - Job 21:15

Pretty much sums up the HuffPo's stance.

Selective Scripture posting by them/whoever is a common way to mislead Biblical Truth.......maybe they should post ALL of the Scripture from Job?

Huffing Paint doesn't realise their kick no-room-for-God worldview is to blame for this sort of thing.

Ohhh I posted that to show that their attitude toward prayer is apparently the same as the naysayers of Job's day.

I thought that it was pretty clear from the scripture posted that it was from the adversaries of Job and God...
Then again, it's always safer to post the context :p

The comments under the article mock prayer too.

It's crazy, nobody seems to find anything messed up about the fact that the authors not only mocked prayer in general, but chose people by name to mock when they were only offering up some good will towards the situation. (How dare they?) Though this article added nothing to the discussion nor offered anything of any substance to anyone, they complain the same thing about the prayers they're mocking.

No logic.

Yes, but in context, it also reveals their ignorance, as well as their reward for their foolishness.......I like for folks to know what comes of such as these

It is possible that when someone says "our prayers are with you"
that is it just an expression of good will. It does not
necessarily mean that they have actually prayed to the one
true living God.

"our prayers are with you" is probably one of the must
mis used phrases on the planet.

Politicians for example use it all the time, but do they actually pray and do they
actually know God.

Another miss used phrase is "our thought are with you"
Some will be genuine, others will think of you for maybe half a second.

I tell you what bothers me,not that you asked.lol It bothers me that left leaning people want to let drug dealers go free, they want leaner sentences, they want Gitmo closed. If it was up to them there wouldn't be a prison in the country. They dont want to profile. No one is ever evil, just misunderstood. They want to take guns from responsible citizens. They dont want the Bible in schools,in public places, they dont want to hear Merry Christmas. Take God off the money. But when it all goes to ...pot...the first ones they blame is Christians, God and prayer. Its just amazing how quickly they shake their fist and demand God fix all this mess. Its just flipping amazing the arrogance of these people.

They were also among the first to express hope that the shooting in California was perpetrated by Christian Right Wingers.

It's simply disgusting.

Seems to me this is more of a "we are being attacked!" christian reaction. So let's see what the bible has to say about this.
Oh here is a section that mocks people who say they care but DO NOTHING.

James 2;16and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

And so it seems that these articles are merely pointing out what THE BIBLE ITSELF points out, that good intentions and well wishing are useless without ACTION.

I actually think the articles are way more inline with biblical principle than many of the responses in this thread.

I have a feeling that everyone on this thread knows that faith without works is dead.

But
1. Prayer is not "nothing".
2. The Huffington Post, other news sites, and whoever else is mocking prayer doesn't actually know that people who pray are doing nothing else.
3. Ironically, those who have mocked prayer don't seem to have even so much as offered anything substantive, much less a single well-wish or good thought themselves.

I don't see this as speaking about faith without works. I see this as the assumption that people who have faith, by expressing that faith through the offering of prayers, do no works...since Huffington Post (and other news sites) most likely have no idea what the average person of faith is doing.

It's mockery, and it's plain as day to me.
