So, I made a new recording... but, have you ever tried singing a song and realised the bridge is WAY above your vocal range, and you can't back out anymore, you have to sing it?!
Why not just use auto-tune like every other modern singer nowadays seems to do... :D

(I can't sing. I would totally pull a Milli Vanilli and hire someone else to sing for me. Move over, Ashlee Simpson... I'd better practice my lip syncing...)

I just found out yesterday that one of my sister's friends was killed in that mass shooting in san bernardino. She was still quite young too.

As Lynx suggested too. Truth is, I actually did usr auto-tune, but I think my ears were already tired, I only noticed the bad parts after I exported it and closed everything out. Was too lazy to sit and manually pitch-correct the bridge again lol.

Thanks to everyone who replied and for the prayers, you guys are awesome.

I've never actually met her and I don't think they were very close, but she used to help my sister with her side business of baking cakes and stuff. Still very sad especially since I stumbled upon a news article detailing her life last night. Her family came here from abroad and they were making a better life here in america.

It's always tragic when it happens in any place of the world, but when it happens an hour from us, it's a little bit of a reality slap, you know? Like, instead of "Oh those poor folks almost 6,000 miles away from me! I'll pray and maybe send some money," you can hear the gunfire. Not sure how you felt when it went down, with you and I being within an hour or so of it, but I'm pretty sure I actually tensed up when the news reached me.

Anyway, I hope your sister is doing okay with the news, and my heart goes out to her friend's loved ones.

Ear fatigue is a real problem. At least you didn't cut the formants too short and make your voice sound like something out of a computer. =^.^=

Yes it is, just learned that recently :/. I've always wanted to try that, making someone sound like a computer, or TPain. Lol. I think that would be fun. Okay, here's a question for you :) How do you mix live church praise and worship? Like what's the first thing you do? At church (I'm assigned backstage), I only help with mics, and people mixing for the musicians' monitors. There's front of house (I've only been to once, but haven't been assigned there before) that does the mixing for the congregation, I think they use more effects? Like add more reverb and stuff?

Depends on the venue, the singers, the instruments... Whole bunch of stuff. Basically you get familiar with the tools and trust your ears on when to use how much of them.

For reverb, less is definitely more. Usually in a live setting no reverb is required because the room provides its own reverb. (That's what reverb is for, to simulate the sound in a virtual "room" setting.) If you do use reverb make sure everything in the mix has the same kind of reverb.

See, the auditory center of a person's brain uses the reverb sound to reconstruct a mental image of the room the sound is in. If different instruments and vocals use different kinds of reverb the brain gets multiple room reconstructions and the person gets a generally bad impression of the whole mix. Best to set one kind of reverb and just control how much it is applied to separate channels in the mix.

And if you can listen to it and tell it has reverb, it is too much. Best reverb is when the whole mix sounds better, but you can't distinctly hear the reverb on it.
