Think about it really hard. If you were someone else, would you be your friend? Would you get along with yourself?

I'd think so. I try to be kind and thoughtful.

I'd be certain to have arguments with myself. But i might get along. Mostly because we'd leave each other alone and be introverted and stay away from each other. haha.

For years I've been my own best friend, always ready to do what I want to do, always understand what I mean when I say something, and I almost always agree with me. These days life circumstances mean I can be a bit difficult and I'm quite transitory and for those reasons I might avoid taking things beyond the acquaintance level to friendship with someone too like myself, but then again, if it were just a chatting over the internet thing type of friendship, well a change in location wouldn't matter too much.

So did i answer the question or not?

No. I can't be a good friend on a consistent basis. I'd definitely get along well with myself though. How could I not? We'd have the same interests and agree on everything. :p

Yes, certainly would! I deeply treasure my friendships. I am hilarious and already crack myself up daily. I am kind and gracious and I also know when to give the needed space.

Reminds me of an old song. (Surprised?) That last line of the song always gets me.

If everyone were just like me
What kind of world would this world be?
If everyone were just like me
Would it be a place I'd want to be?

There's a couple of people at work who are about like me as far as work ethic and doing the job right. They also seem to have about the same kind of sense of humor I have. I get along well with them. So I guess I would be my friend.

Then again, once upon a time I and my brother both worked at the same factory and the boss there was so much like my brother it was amazing. They would argue about some piddling little thing and I found it fascinating to watch. It was like a tennis match, except every time one of them returned a serve the ball got larger.

By the way this is the kind of thread seoulsearch would start, but I know it can't be her behind it because the OP was only three sentences. :p

As a friend to myself I'd say yes, because who doesn't like someone who is happy most of the time and likes to joke around and laugh a lot.

But several years ago I thought I'd like to try a computer dating service and a written pen pal type of dating thing and I got the applications and started filling them out taking a hard look at myself and decided that I wouldn't want to date me so I never mailed them in....

So while I might be a friend to myself I'd never want to date me....I kind of feel sorry for tourist at times because I know I am a handful and then some.....But I love my tourist to death....because he puts up with my issues.

Be a friend to me? No way! I wouldn't even attend a church that would let me be a member.

I'm still pondering the question.

However, one thing is for certain... I KNOW I wouldn't be Lynx's friend!!! :p

(And look, Mr. Smarty Pants... I can do a 3-sentence post, too! :D)

How existential can you get? :p

So if you joined a church you would quit immediately because they allowed you to join.

That's five sentences. And I'm writing you a ticket for ellipse abuse.

I'm thinking... Yes, I could be my own friend.

After all, I'm going to need some back-up when I go after the Punctuation Police.

That is the beauty of attending the congregation I attend. We don't have any official "Membership" roles.

So, I have no way of knowing if I am there or not, other than meeting myself, face-to-face. And that hasn't happened yet.

Soooo very much to react with humor.............however, let me say that a person must be at peace with themselves. Christians who have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit should never dislike themselves........So, yes I could be my friend, but I would understand those who would choose otherwise....... :)

Heck yeah I would be - as if I'm not my own friend already!
(Don't say stuff like that. People will think you're weird.)
Are we not?
(Speak for yourself! I have to make friends too, you know.)
We have the same friends, bro.
(Yeah... the same two friends... Social butterfly much?)
Don't be an instigator.
(If I'm an instigator, you're an instigator.)
You're more of an alter ego than a reflection.
(Denial isn't just a river in Egypt!)
This friendship doesn't seem to be working out...

You know what, Abing? I rescind that; I probably wouldn't be my own friend.
