Religion is of this world. Jesus is from heaven.
This is a false comparison. Following Jesus is a religion, a metaphysical definition of God, a way of having a relationship with God and the world around us.
Those who rebel or who reject those around them without discernment talk like this. Jesus defended the temple of Soloman, and over turned the money changers for turning Gods instituted way of seeking forgiveness through sacrifice as a way of making money. So rather than rejecting religion he spoke about the true way to approach God.
I respect peoples attempts to reach out to the thing they do not know and their sincere efforts to live good lives.
Unfortunately the op believes he is preaching Jesus, while polarising the discussion into simple extremes.
What is the problem in the world is not religion and has never been, but sin and people hiding it.
What God stands for is truth and justice.
Islam says the problem is everyone has the wrong religion, they have corrupted the truth and destroyed the morality of mankind. This argument is almost a mirror of this, and almost as pointless.
On this list
Religion is death. No sin is death.
Jesus says it is sin that makes us blind and slaves, and from sin we need to be set free.
It is Jesus's heart that love is the thing that overcomes sin, planted in us through the cross.
It is by obeying Jesus's commands that we are transformed, letting love work out its way in us.
I once met someone who claimed they had tried to love someone and be nice. That other person was nasty back so they gave up. This is not the level of love Jesus is talking about. He is talking about dying for other people to bring them life.
I have had people here claim they have lived this life and it failed them. I do not believe them, because this is following Jesus.
In this weired world they claim they have had the experience of meeting Christ yet do not walk in righteousness, because righteousness is too difficult.
