I certainly wouldn't take any teaching from Torben Sondergaard. Dangerous teaching.

Very dangerous. You might find out that Jesus set you free from sin and you're a new creation and don't have to sin anymore and get set free from addiction to sin. Dangerous. But I'd better start another thread about this much more beautiful flower.

And for those who want to know what it really means -- here's a crash course in the real basics. (Not to be confused with the response above.)

I like Sproul's mind, but he makes the mistake IMO of conflating man's will with man himself in his discussion on total depravity. Free will is simply the ability to choose. The ability to do what is willed is a separate matter, and that is what came under bondage to sin. Paul even said in Romans 7 that he was not free to do what he willed to do because of sin within him, yet he was still able in his fallen condition to will to do good.

Well we do live in a spiritual drought. We are to feed and water the sheep with the word of God. Sadly, not many today HEAR his word being proclaimed faithfully. No one is saved by a lie, but by the power of God and That, to and for his Glory.

I thank God Daily for each precious one who truly belongs to God. And I actually KNOW some. That's amazing.

Our purpose here is to proclaim Our God's Grace to his people and Give HIM all the glory due his name. Cease from your works and rest in his. He can't fail. We are NOT under the law but under Grace.
This pops in my mind when seeing words like "spiritual drought" and "feed and water the sheep."
Psalm 23English Standard Version (ESV)

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

We ARE the sheep. Israel's geography hasn't changed that much in 3000 years, so the Shepherd deals in dryness and yet we're hydrated, feed, and hey? How many sheep do you know that eat at a table in front of the wolves, bears, and lions?

God's doing great with us, even when that valley scares me. (I'm a sheep. I scare easily. He still makes me happy.

How can you say the bible cannot save anyone? We will be judged by it someday, and it tells us how to be saved from that judgement. That makes it life-saving words, if you follow them. It is God's word. How will we know unless we're told? Faith comes by hearing the word of God, and without faith it is impossible to please God, and if you don't please God you will not be saved. How can you say that? The Word and the Spirit go hand and hand.
I thought he was quite clear.
The Bible cannot save anyone. Christ the Lord does that.

There are no fleas here, so quit nitpicking.

Very dangerous, because that's a pile of hooey that's NOT in God's word. So, yup. I agree with you. "Very dangerous." and "Dangerous." Your flower is called "skunk weed."

I can't say either that I trust people who charge money for the things that they have freely received. Freely you have received, freely give.
Off-topic: Really? So how do you pay your bills, since you freely give yourself to a job you received? And this is why I think too many Christians are cheap. It's okay if the world pays people for products and services. It's okay if they get paid for their product or service, but the second there is the slightest chance that person is a Christian, suddenly they don't deserve to get paid. It really translates into, "I want it for free because I am special and deserve it for free."

So I don't trust people who don't trust people simply because they want money for their effort.

(Thus I put away my soapbox after my rant.)

That depends. A person has no right to charge for the things of GOD. IMO people who do such have already received their reward. Anything else Christians can charge like everyone else does.

Hi HeRose,

Free will is not a seperate issue from man's will (don't forget we are refering to the moral). I can say very easily that I freely choose to do things every single day.

Man will only choose that which is from his nature. remember we are not talking about whether or not you pick a red jumper or blue one, we are refering to the 'moral will' of man. When you grasp this then you can see what Paul is talking about.

From what you are saying it is only the action of the will that is in bondage or just the ability to do something and not the will itself (moral), which would then mean that original sin, is only an action if you choose to carry out or that it is just a possibility. Which would mean that you do not believe in original sin...thats the logical conclusion of your statement.. I don't think you mean it that way.

The ability to do what is willed is a separate matter, and that is what came under bondage to sin.

I wish you would start a thread on that fellow that you like. I would like to know more about him and why Phil thinks he's dangerous.

Apparently he's a beautiful flower?

When you say skunk weed, I think this:

So missionaries should do God's work plus get a job? Pastors should do God's work and get a job? How dare Michelangelo take money for painting the Sistine Chapel? How dare anyone get paid to build a church? Where is your cut off point?

Or, easier still? Feel free to take no money, but don't assume because you believe this, it is gospel for everyone.

(Sorry. The soapbox popped back out.)

No, I'm talking primarily about teachings. Before the days of the internet I could see charging for books to cover costs, but now they can be put on line for free. You want people to have the truth, or you wanna charge for it? Freely you have received, freely give.
