I hope your eye is ok and I'm sorry that happened to you, Kim. Were you crouched down when it happened? I'm just wondering if someone was dumb enough to be carrying a box at head level without being able to see what was in front of them. Also, I am sure worker's comp would go into effect here so you might not need to worry about medical costs.
Hi Zero,

Thanks so much for your sympathies and concerns! :) Unfortunately, what happened would not be seen as the store's fault. Everywhere you go, merchandise gets shipped in stacks that are always too high (even our boss, who is 6 feet tall, has to get a step stool to reach the top, and I'm only about 5 feet tall.)

I was reaching for a box but didn't see another box stacked on top of it that was filled with much heavier glass items. WHAM!!! The second box fell and hit me right in the face, pushing my glasses into my face very hard. Ever since it happened (about 13 hours ago), I've had large "floating" pieces going across my left eye, and that eye has now become a bit sore.

While I'm sure they won't consider this as applicable for workman's comp (and if I tried to claim it as such it would probably be more hassle than it's worth), if I can get it classified as a medical issue, I might be able to get insurance to pay for part of the visit. I have regular insurance (praise the Lord), but don't yet qualify for the company's vision plan.

Thank you all so much for your help, concerns, and maybe I can even ask for a few prayers. :) I'll keep you posted as I find out more today.

Anyone else notice the influx of incendiary threads lately (threads where heated discussions come about)? Seems like a wave of them recently.
Sometimes CC feels a lot like my old Christian high school--in some ways, my school was a "dumping ground" for kids who were kicked out of the public high school. I'm not sure if the other areas thought our school could actually reform them--it was probably more of a "thank goodness they're not our problem anymore--you deal with it" kind of situation.

Unfortunately, many people who come here seem to think that the best way to work out their problems is by immediately starting fights with other people... It seems like most of them have been hurt in some way, blame their problems on God, and so what better way to "work it out" than to duke it out with people who claim to believe in the God that did them wrong.

I can't say much though, because when I first came here, I wasn't in a good frame of mind either. Thank goodness people here were patient with me.

I do know what you're saying, Zero. I'm hoping that if we all hang in there and try to stay positive, this current atmosphere will pass and we can eventually overtake it with good things!

Having been in that kind of pain before I definitely understand the caller's persistence.
i totally understand someone being in pain and want to see someone right away. in most cases, when i let the person know i don't have a time available, they tell me they'll look for another office, and i usually recommend an office (they send us people when they're book, and we do the same).

in the case of this caller, person scheduled to come in today (thursday). so either they're not in THAT much pain or it's bearable for another day. lol.

Workers comp applies whenever an accident occurs at work. It doesn't matter who's fault it was.

I'm just saying that this place better not become like the BDF forum...

I'm going to ask my bosses about it today at work. Good news, nothing serious--the eye doctor said that basically, the gel inside the eyeball "popped loose" (became detached) from part of the side, and the spots I'm seeing is the space between the gel and the back of the eye. The body eventually gets used to it and the eye will eventually "ignore" that space (unfortunately, it doesn't reattach itself.)

They can't do anything for it but I have to go back in a month to make sure nothing is getting worse. Fortunately, it looks like insurance will pay for it so all I'll have to cover are my co-pays for the visits, and the best news is that my retinas are completely intact and healthy. (My main concern was that the retinas had possibly detached, but there were no worries there.)

Many thanks to my CC friends who have listened and taken the time to reply. One of the issues of being single is having to go through these kinds of everyday speed bumps alone, but it's been nice to know I have company along the way!

Thank you again and God bless.

That's great news Kim!

About workers comp...In my state you have 30 days to file a workers comp claim, and I read on wiki that taking workers comp means you are agreeing not to sue the company for negligence (but I don't know if it's true for all states or at all).

I'm so tired of the "What men want" and "What women REALLY want" threads.

I am my own individual. I can speak for myself. But I can ONLY speak for myself. STTAAAAHHHPP trying to speak for others.

The end.

Hi peeps. I don't recommend drinking bi-carb with a glass of water when you're sick and have severe uh... windfalls. My stomach just swelled more and more and kept right on gurgling. I couldn't sleep on my sides or my back last night, I was in pure agony. Found it very difficult to sleep. So please, be careful with home remedies. This one must have been for bad burritos, not sick people.
