So let's say I'm hanging out with friends: both men and women, all christian. If we start talking about Scripture, am I to stay silent? It may not be a service, but it's still a body of believers. It may not be a 3 point sermon in progress, but it's still the word of God.

God uses both men and women. He calls both men and women. I know Who has called me. I teach. I preach. I lead worship. All for His honor and glory.

(This is just a general statement. Not directed to anyone in particular.)

Hello Melita, God will use ANY vessel that heeds his calling. Don't let these folks get to you, keep doing what
God has led you to do. You'll get your rewards, they'll get theres. You are a blessing to all who come in contact with you. Keep praising God and teaching His word, you can't go wrong.

I agree with many things that you and other women write in this thread, and I'm glad that you stand for the liberty of the Holy Spirit and encourage others.

But your examples of women being assertive, and men being submissive -- is comparing apples to oranges. Women also submit to their bosses and men also assert themselves over children. Both genders have to learn to submit or to lead w/ authority in various situations. 'The roles of men and women exist to teach us about leadership, and about service, and everyone has to learn the lessons that are taught by both roles.'

I understand women have been provoked in this thread and I don't equate them to the characters doing the provoking.. but there's many responses from women that seem to be protecting their egos. Fighting guys who are wrong, with negativity or generalizations that alienate other men, is winning the battle but losing the war... not a desirable quality in a general.

This isn't aimed so much at you, just making a point -- partly because I have more faith in the women here, than in the ones provoking them.

I agree with achildofGod. If God tells you to speak, you do it. Don't ever be silent.God uses those who have ears to hear and a willing heart. You have a lot to give,never hide your light!

Two things I've learned from reading this long thread:

1. Men think that the grass is greener on the women's side
2. Women think that the grass is greener on the men's side

Therefore the grass is all the same shade of green.

The ground is level at the Cross.

That strange I don't see it that way at all. I see 2 or 3 people here that actually believe the bible and there's about 10 or so who actually reject the words of the bible and prefer it their way.

maybe you mean the KJV1611 bible - the one that omits all the verses that don't fit so conveniently with a doctrine built solely on Pauls' recommendations.

It's interesting to me that Paul said 'I do not permit' instead of saying 'God does not permit' or 'You must not permit'. As if there was some recognition that it was situational.
