One problem with the thinking that sin in the believer is forgiven, such that the concept is that God is blind to the sin of the believer, flies in the face of consequences of sin in this life and the Lord chastising sons, as Hebrews 12 confirms. To say our sins are blotted out, in terms of salvation, is true, this God's mercy and grace by faith. On the other hand, I can see being repentant as a believer, know repentance as a life practice, and praying the Lord have mercy for any sin that remains in me, as the rod of the Lord's chastisement is very real, sin having consequences and, unless one is a glutton for punishment, we must walk in the light and with care, God forbid the attitude, well, I'm clothed in Christ's righteousness, therefore drinks all around at the bar. "What, me worry?" I think not! Being full of ourselves isn't being full of Christ. What about the sin unto death we're not to pray for, 1 John 5:16? Is this a fiction? Sin is serious, and sin is real, for all believers to contend with and turn from. If you think life and grace equate to tiptoeing through the tulips, you'd better make sure there's no poison oak in your field. Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
I don't think this whole endless bicker involves any real communication, though. There seems to be an element of trollish behavior where people are, in fact, here to bicker, want to endlessly bicker, which I don't see as Christian. It's wrong to say sin in the believer is not real and without consequences, but it's also wrong to think one is in any way self-righteous, such that the Lord needs our help to save us. The two extremes of error are that God puts on opaque glasses to sin, and that we're not required to be vigilant, or that the Holy Spirit ceases to convict of us sin in our lives (that would be called a dead conscience), the other extreme to think there's any self-righteousness, if you had a truck load of works, that could save you or help to save you. Both extremes are error by clear scripture, but I've not exactly been seeing things this blatant said in these endless bickers. Whatever the case, if there are people arguing from these polls, it's idiotic to think you're ever going to meet, or, more importantly, that such error will meet truth.
Call it what you want, but I pray the Lord's mercy for any of my trespasses and seek to avoid His chastisement, as best I know how, can pray the whole Lord's prayer with Christian meaning, pass the whitewash can to somebody else: I need the Lord's tender mercies, everyday, find meaning in working out my salvation with fear and trembling for that in me which could not be pleasing to God. And God would cease to be holy, despite His grace, were He ever to wink at sin. If the payment was innocent Christ's agony and precious blood, you'd best not wink at sin, either.
