I maintain that there is not even one verse in the bible that allows or gives permission to eat the unclean which the bible declares to be abomination. This is the true word of God.

Why would you let appetite dictate your opposition to God even as Adam and Eve did. They also were fooled by Satan (Eve) and deliberately disobeyed God.(Adam)

I encourage everyone to study this issue closely to discover the truth as it is in Jesus. Jesus died to save men from their sins not in them. Jesus is the Creator God who we love. I am unwilling to do anything to displease Him.

Jesus went through so much to secure for us eternal life with Him. Are you not willing to give (sacrifice) up your bacon for Him, something that is deleterious to your health.

It does not matter where we are in our faith when we recognize Jesus voice speaking to us about something that may be lacking in our lives. We need to humble ourselves and remember;

“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices
as much as in obeying the Lord?
To obey is better than sacrifice,
and to heed is better than the fat of rams. 1 Sam 15:22

Like Saul you may think you are bringing the very best for the Lord, do not make this error in discerning the Lord's will.

We are to be a holy nation, a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a peculiar people that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1Peter 2:9

Separate yourselves from the things of the world that defile.

[SUP]14 [/SUP]Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? [SUP]15 [/SUP]What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[SUP][b][/SUP]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? [SUP]16 [/SUP]What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:

“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”[SUP][c][/SUP]

[SUP]17 [/SUP]Therefore,
“Come out from them
and be separate,
says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you.”[SUP][d][/SUP]

[SUP]18 [/SUP]And,

“I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters,
says the Lord Almighty.

7 Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

Be holy for I am holy. Let us be received by Jesus.

Hmmmmm.... my siblings and I ate newspaper to sustain us when we were little and were suffering from severe malnutrition. When we were finally placed into a foster home, the family doctor told our foster mom that the newspaper fibers probably kept us alive.

I'll bet you a million bucks if you had given us pepperoni when we were starving to death we would have been on it like vultures, abomination or not. And I'm sure God wouldn't have objected.

When I first joined the forum I saw a discussion about people enjoying their bacon and chicken and shellfish.

Didn't think much if it but have come across clean and unclean food.

I ate some pepperoni yesterday and felt bad now knowing or having read this and feel very bad now having just eaten another piece.

Where do Christians stand with eating clean and unclean food.

Is eating unclean food now acceptable from NT writings??

Would really miss the clams and bacon and much of the food I saw on the unclean list.

Thank you
If you remain sincere with God, He will reveal the truth to you.
Some argue that the diet changed after Christ, but i ask why did God give Israel the dietary laws to begin with?
Was it just symbolic or did God want to protect His people from disease.
If He loved them and wanted to protect them, than I’m going to obey His wise council in my life today.
As far as I can determine, all of the forbidden categories are so classified because God wanted His people to be healthy and happy. They simply were not suitable for human consumption.
Leviticus clearly states that pigs, because they do not chew their cud, are an unclean meat. Modern science has shown that pigs carry a very high toxic load making them unsafe for human consumption. Pigs have very high histamine levels and research has found that at the time when pigs leave the farms, 56% of all pork samples are contaminated with salmonella.

Be holy for I am holy. Let us be received by Jesus.
I am just about as fed up with this as I can get. There is nothing God has made that is not good. Oh yes mankind can turn the uses of things and make an evil use of them, but EVERYTHING GOD HAS MADE IS INTRINSICALLY GOOD! Here is the scripture you wanted not to see;
[h=1]1 Timothy 4[/h] 4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. [SUP]3 [/SUP]They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. [SUP]4 [/SUP]For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, [SUP]5 [/SUP]because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.

Dose your conscience agree with this? Have I made this up? Is God speaking? Do you still say 'we must refrain from certain foods? If you do, then are not you a deceiving spirit or a demon trying to teach your way?

Your words are;
"I maintain that there is not even one verse in the bible that allows or gives permission to eat the unclean which the bible declares to be abomination. This is the true word of God."

To say what you maintain as 'the true word of God' is blasphemous and it is deceitful, why? Because it takes what God has made and places it above who God is!

The Law said that anyone who touched anything unclean was themselves unclean, anything, from a dead body to a dead fly, with this is mind read again the scriptures, how many times did Jesus touch those who were unclean? Have you never wondered why the Pharisees and the Sadducee were so vehemently opposing Jesus for curing people? curing people is worthy of praise, even on the Sabbath.

What Jesus did was turning the LAW on it's head. Jesus didn't become unclean He passed on cleanliness, he took their uncleanness and made them clean, He never became unclean!

When He died on the cross for us, we who are not of the direct seed of Abraham became the seed of the Abrahamic covenant of faith, we who were considered unclean even to enter the temple gates have been give free access to the most holy, direct access to the mercy seat, to the cherubim where God is, so where we are GOD IS!

You can spout scripture all you want, satan can do the same, but to mislead those who are week and young in the Lord by misdirection and self indulgent platitudes is wrong.

"He who made the eye will He not see? or He who made the ear will He not hear?"
So? So from me to you, you will know, you will see, you will hear!

Auntieant, I do sympathize with you in your early childhood. Hunger will indeed make us do things that ordinarily we would never do. We see this happening during the siege of Jerusalem. The situation was so dire that mothers cooked and ate their own children. Lam4:10, and 2Kings 6:25 says that a (unclean) donkey's head sold for eighty pieces of silver. Yes, some people will do whatever it takes to survive, no question. Yet, there are some who will follow the Lord no matter what. Consider Daniel, when he found himself in a bad situation, he resolved that he would not defile himself with the Kings meat even though he was risking his life to make his stand for his God. Dan 1:10

You feel that God would not have objected if you were to eat the abomination during your time of need? What do you base that on, do you have biblical evidence or is it just man's reasoning? Many are the Christian martyrs who endured hardships and even gave their lives for Jesus rather than compromise in even the slightest way. They would not even offer a pinch of incense to ceaser to save their lives. You see Christians are different, we serve Jesus who suffered more than any other to save us into His Kingdom.

Just because most people do not believe that eating of the unclean is a moral issue does not lessen it's importance in God's eyes. You are trying to relegate it to a survival issue not realizing it has the weight of the apple in importance. Esau sold his birthright for a mess of pottage, many there are in this world that are doing the same. I encourage you to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

dude, look -- there is no more "unclean meat"
you're exhaustively arguing about a faulty premise.

Are you so dull?” he asked.
Don’t you see that nothing that enters a person from the outside can defile them? For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.
(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)

God probably has pepperoni when He orders a pizza from Papa John's. Bacon too.

inJC, thank you for your gracious message. The kingdom of God is within me. [Luke 17:21] God has credited to me His own righteousness in Christ through faith. I believe Him. [Romans 4:22] All I seek now is more of Jesus. He said He bought me with a price, now reigns in me and is conforming me more & more into his image. I believe Him.

You err in thinking we are still under the law. The only law in my life that is relevant is the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus which has already set me free from sin and death.

As for food, Jesus tells me don't worry what about what I eat or what I wear. And I don't. It's that simple. :)

Also, I praise God for my eating newspaper as a starving child because it now serves as a daily reminder. Every time I sit down to eat, I never ever forget to say, ""Mmmmm, thanks God for this yummy food!" (That's how I say grace.) I ain't kidding, I'm soooo grateful for every meal I get.

Brother bikerchaz, Jesus is patient with us, and so we aught to be with one another. Jesus is seeking the greatest good in us and so we also aught to appreciate our brothers and sisters who together are on a journey to the kingdom of God. If i have offended you with my posts i am sorry but i cannot but declare the truth as it is in Jesus. Forgive me even as Christ has forgiven us all and know that what ever someone has said to hurt us, it is nothing compared to how much we have hurt Jesus. Jesus loves us with an everlasting love and desires so much that we would all be in unity. But it cannot be unity for the sake of unity only, it has to be that we are in one accord with the Holy Spirit. Christ is not divided like as we are. He desires that we would accept His words, for His word is the Truth. Let us both make a start by putting away any beliefs that the bible does not support.

Lets start with your statement that God has made everything good. We are in perfect agreement on this point. If you had read in my previous posts you would have seen my reasoning on this.

"When God created the animals He said, "it was good". Every animal that God made is therefore good, good for the purpose God made it for. Even the unclean animals are not unclean of themselves, they do not defile anything or anybody. It is only when they die that their carcass is unclean to us. see Lev 11:22-31 It is the carcass, not the living animal that defiles, note that Jesus rode a donkey and was not defiled. So Paul is saying that every animal whether designated clean or unclean is not unclean of itself. You may touch it without any defilement. He also means that the clean animals suffer no defilement even if they are sacrificed to idols. As well unclean animals do not defile clean animals by their interaction"

Now as to, "the scripture that i wanted not to see", again if you has read the previous posts you would know that i dealt with 1Tim 4:1-6

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

1) We are being warned that in the latter times (our time) some (Christians) would depart from the faith, by listening to unclean spirits and accepting satanic doctrines.

2) These hypocrites would speak lies, and actually believe their corrupt teachings because they have allowed their consciences to be seared. They no longer accept the bible as the infallible word of God.

3)Forbidding to marry, (just live together instead?) and commanding to abstain from meats (food) for example in the catholic tradition it was forbidden to eat meat on Friday's but fish was okay. In fact God has created all food for us to eat as we like, for we as Christians believe that and as Christians we know the truth of what God has granted us to eat. Gen 1:29 and 8:20, 9:3
Lev 11:1-47

We know that God has forbidden some things, Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing. Deut 14:3

Do you know and believe these truths? Or are you believing other voices (seducing spirits)

4) Every creature of God is good (there is no exception here, but he is referring to clean ones) How do we know?
Your receiving something with thanksgiving does not make it holy or acceptable in God's eyes. What does?

5) For it is sanctified by the word of God. Does the word of God sanctify eating unclean? Where does it say that? Nowhere!

The word of God condemns the eating of the unclean thing.

If you are looking for license to eat the unclean you need to look elsewhere, you do not find it here in 1 Tim 4:1-5

You need to find the verse that will cause a conflict and contradiction in the word of God. I say, You will not find it.

You have intimated that i am a deceiving spirit. You say i am a demon trying to teach my ways. Does the shoe fit?

You have spoken strong words against me for saying,

"I maintain that there is not even one verse in the bible that allows or gives permission to eat the unclean which the bible declares to be abomination. This is the true word of God."

Then you said,
"To say what you maintain as 'the true word of God' is blasphemous and it is deceitful, why? Because it takes what God has made and places it above who God is!

I have simply quoted God's word to you, you are offended by His word. His word is Truth, what voice are you listening to?

The Law said that anyone who touched anything unclean was themselves unclean, anything, from a dead body to a dead fly, with this is mind read again the scriptures, how many times did Jesus touch those who were unclean? Have you never wondered why the Pharisees and the Sadducee were so vehemently opposing Jesus for curing people? curing people is worthy of praise, even on the Sabbath.

You say above, "The law said..." who authored that law? was it God or a seducing spirit? Why do you resent a concept of God?

What Jesus did was turning the LAW on it's head. Jesus didn't become unclean He passed on cleanliness, he took their uncleanness and made them clean, He never became unclean!

Did Jesus really turn the law on it's head? Or was it a 'seducing spirit' who did that?

17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matt 5:17,18

Do not believe your teachers who teach you contrary to Jesus words.

Jesus indeed passed on healing and made men clean, you see, that was and is the problem, we are suffering from the uncleanness of sin, it is Jesus who sanctifies us, we have no way of our own. It was forbidden to touch a leper on pain of being defiled, but notice that even before He healed the man, Jesus put his hand on him. He said, i am willing to cleanse you.

Matt 8:3

When He died on the cross for us, we who are not of the direct seed of Abraham became the seed of the Abrahamic covenant of faith, we who were considered unclean even to enter the temple gates have been give free access to the most holy, direct access to the mercy seat, to the cherubim where God is, so where we are GOD IS!

Yes my brother that is true. “That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:” Eph 3:6 There is only one body of Jews and gentiles. Eph 4:4 Acts 10:28,35

You can spout scripture all you want, satan can do the same, but to mislead those who are week and young in the Lord by misdirection and self indulgent platitudes is wrong.

It seems you are saying that scripture is unimportant to you, since the devil can also quote it. You need to reconsider your ways, for it is written,
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works 1 Tim 3:16,17

"He who made the eye will He not see? or He who made the ear will He not hear?"
So? So from me to you, you will know, you will see, you will hear!

It is my prayer that the Lord will grant you a humble heart so that you may see the error of your ways,
Listen to His voice and you will live.

I am at your service, i will try to clarify any other troublesome passages as the Lord has given me understanding, let us both seek Him in all our ways. blessings.

Wow, I respect you even more now, (I tried to give rep points but it keeps saying to spread it around to others???) sometimes I have to remind myself not to be complacent especially when we all love our "options" for breakfast, lunch, or dinner but should just be grateful for having something to put into our stomachs.....I would love to hear your testimony if you do not mind sharing it! :) To keep the thread on topic you can just pm me a link to it if it's already on the site or somewhere else....

inJC, how can you sit there and write all that stuff, when you've read Mark 7:18-19 ?
when you know the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness through faith, peace and joy in the spirit?

how do you convince yourself to contradict the Word like that? how do you read 1 Timothy 4, about false teachers commanding to abstain from meats, and then turn around and write huge diatribes commanding people to abstain from meats?
how do you read Galatians, and then teach people to put themselves under law?
the law that Jesus fulfilled ? that we died to ?

how do you do that? i just don't get it.

far out, man.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking
but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

I have many in-laws that are SDA. I know all things are lawful to me, but, out of love for them and their weakness, when with them, I give up eating and drinking certain things... except for coffee.

Turkey bacon is fine, beef bacon is pretty good.

So interesting how they try to act like it's not trying to place us under bondage, but it's reverence toward God and our bodies.

Pepperoni is actually gross and very unhealthy, though. It's parts, pieces, eyeballs, intestine, organ, brain etc... but, people like these things, tongue, skin, ears etc.

My husband is raging mad at me in the moment for reading to him what you listed was in pepperonis

Im sort of chuckling, but not, because he is fuming at me right now.

Never cussed at me like that either and thinking maybe it does have devils!

And he ate one!

(not altogether serious) but serious that he is very angry, and never wants to eat a pepperoni again.

He told me I ruined pepperoni pizza for him
