"
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ." 1 Pet 3:15-16
It is vitally important that we submit ourselves to Christ's righteousness and not try to establish our own...even if we have good intentions as many religious people do, of which Paul talked about in Romans.

Romans 10:2-3 (KJV)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

[SUP]3 [/SUP] For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

Philemon speaks too of how our faith becomes "effective - working" by the acknowledging of every good thing that is in us in Christ. - because of Jesus finished work on our behalf. Now we walk in Him as His life flows in and through us to a hurt and dying world as well as to our brethren.

Philemon 1:6 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] That the communication of thy faith may become effectual
by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

It is vitally important that we submit ourselves to Christ's love and obedience to the Holy Spirit and His word are at work in our hearts...even if we have think it is good to believe our sins no longer matter, of which Paul talked about in Romans.

What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means!
Rom 6:15
But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’”
Rom 10:6
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
Rom 10:17
And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again.
Rom 11:23

Knowing who you are in Christ because of His finished work that made us "alive" unto God now will change our outward behavior...."awake to righteousness and sin not..".....this is a call to see who you are in Christ and in knowing that....His life in you changes our behavior..

Knowing that we are dead to sin and "alive" to God is what is needed for real transformation in a Christian's life.

When we see that we are the righteousness of God in Christ... - we become outwardly who we really are in our new creation in Christ.

1 Corinthians 15:34 (KJV)
[SUP]34 [/SUP]Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

It is obvious from scripture that we are to walk out the holiness that is already in us in Christ..in our inner man..the new creation.

There is a difference between us as a person being "set apart" ( sanctified in our spirit ) and "setting apart " ( sanctifying ) our behavior outwardly to reflect our true self in the Lord now. It's definitely a process!.

1 Peter 1:15-16 (NASB)
[SUP]15 [/SUP] but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior;
[SUP]16 [/SUP] because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."

The question remains..is it us doing it by our own self-righteousness/holiness? ..or the life of Christ with His fruit bearing in and through our lives.

The true gospel of the grace of Christ frees us "from" sin and it is not a license "to" sin. We are free in Christ now! Thank you Jesus!

This is a great teaching on identifying "the accuser" in our lives and how to tell the difference between the voice of the accuser and the Holy Spirit. ..There is music until the 6:30 mark when the teaching starts. You can fast forward it to the teaching.

Sometimes a second baptism is required because the first one was not valid - the person was just dipped in water without accepting Christ. True conversion happens only once, and so there must be only one true baptism.

Belief is obviously not enough.
Belief is obviously enough (the right kind of belief), as I already showed you in John 3:16,18; 6:47; Acts 10:43; 13:39; 16:31; Romans 1:16. *An empty profession of faith/dead faith, as we see below in James chapter 2 is not enough and is not the right kind of belief.

What [is] the benefit, my brothers, if someone says [that he] has faith but does not have works? That faith [is] not able to save him. James 2:14
In James 2:14, we read of one who say/claims (key word) he has faith but has no works. This is not genuine faith, but a bare profession of faith. So when James asks, "Can that faith save him?" he is saying nothing against genuine faith, but only against an empty profession of faith. *James does not teach that we are saved "by" works. His concern is to show the reality of the faith professed by the individual (James 2:18) and demonstrate that the faith claimed (James 2:14) by the individual is genuine. Simple!

Thus also faith, if it does not have works, is dead by itself. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.
An empty profession of faith that merely claims to be genuine but demonstrates by the lack of works that it's dead, is not genuine faith but a bare profession of faith. The key word in James 2:18 is show. I will show you my faith by my works. Show, not establish. Big difference! We are made alive in Christ by grace through faith (living faith), not by works (Ephesians 2:5-8) then created in Christ Jesus UNTO/FOR good works (Ephesians 2:10). Living faith produces works. Dead faith produces no works. Faith is the root and good works are the fruit of salvation. No fruit at all would demonstrate that there is no root.

You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe, and shudder! But do you want to know, O foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? James 2:17-20
In James 2:19, nobody is questioning the fact that the demons believe "mental assent" that "there is one God," but where in this passage does it say that demons believe/trust in Jesus Christ for salvation? The faith of demons is only "mental assent" belief. Their trust and reliance is in Satan, as demonstrated by their rebellion in heaven and continuous evil works. The word "believe" can describe "mere mental assent" belief, as in James 2:19 or also include "trust and reliance" in Christ for salvation, as in Acts 16:31. The demons do not believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and are not saved.

Saving belief/faith is more than just an "intellectual acknowledgment" that "there is one God" or mental assent belief in the existence and historical facts about Christ. Saving belief/faith trusts exclusively in Jesus Christ for salvation. Faith apart from works is useless because the lack of works demonstrates that it's a dead faith and not a living faith.

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. James 2:26
The comparison of the human spirit and faith converges around their modes of operation. The spirit (Greek pneuma) may also be translated "breath." As a breathless body emits no indication of life, so fruitless faith exhibits no indication of life. The source of the life in faith is not the works; rather, the life in faith is the source of the works. A dead faith does not produce works in order to become a living faith, but BECAUSE it's a living faith, just as a dead tree does not produce fruit in order to become a living tree, but BECAUSE it's a living tree.

The harmony of Ephesians 2:8,9; Romans 4:2-3 and James 2:24 is seen in the differing ways that Paul and James use the term "justified." Paul, when he uses the term, refers to the legal (judicial) act of God by which He accounts the sinner as righteous (Romans 3:24; 5:1). James, however is using the term to describe those who would show the genuineness of their faith by the works that they do. James is discussing the proof of faith (says-claims to have faith but has no works/I will show you my faith by my works), not the initial act of being accounted as righteous with God (Romans 4:2-3). Works bear out the justification that already came by faith.

Man is saved through faith and not works (Ephesians 2:8,9; Titus 3:5; 2 Timothy 1:9); yet genuine faith is vindicated, substantiated, evidenced by works (James 2:14-24). The word "alone" in regards to salvation through faith "in Christ alone" conveys the message that Christ saves us through faith based on the merits of His finished work of redemption "alone" and not on the merits of our works. It is through faith "in Christ alone" (and not by the merits of our works) that we are justified on account of Christ (Romans 3:24; 5:1); yet the faith that justifies is never alone (solitary, unfruitful, barren) if it is genuine (James 2:14-26). *Perfect Harmony.* By not properly harmonizing scripture with scripture, you have once again came to the improper conclusion that man is saved by works.

Man is justified by faith alone, but saved through his works, because works prove faith is real. It would be much more honest and edifying if the discussion centered around what those works are and how they are accomplished, than to quibble about word parsings to make it look like works aren't necessary. You yourself admit that works have to be present, otherwise the faith isn't real and can't save.

The religion of hyper-grace defines righteousness in terms of adopted righteousness.

But this is the way of adopted righteousness and it leads to failure every time.
Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

If believing the father has adopted you as his son is a dangerous thing. Then Paul sure did mess up in this passage.

Because we all need to fear. lest we fall away..

MailManDan is doing great. So I will let him continue

I will just say No one is saying no one should be baptized. For all you water people who think that is what we are arguing, Find another argument, because we believe someone who has not obeyed Jesus and been baptised and has had the opportunity to be baptized is in sin..

But HS baptism (baptism of God) is what saves, Not mans baptism in water.

Living to love is that we are dead to sin and "alive" to God is what is needed for real transformation in a Christian's life.

Is it us compromising holiness? I did not know we could be holy of our flesh. I thought we needed the power of God to sanctify us, After of course, He perfected us.. ie the life of Christ with his fruit bearing in and through us.

It is not us doing anything but staying out of the way, and letting him do his work.

How do we do this? FAITH.

Faith is the seed of all good works. for without it, there will never be a single work..

all but the foolish recognise that what James means by 'faith' is not the same as Paul and Jesus mean.

James is talking about an intellectual 'faith'. The devils also believe and tremble

Paul and Jesus refer to a living faith which respond personally to the person in which they have faith.

it is as simple as that.

This verse below is going to be an eye-opener. The message of the New Covenant and the new creation in Christ will be a stumbling block and an offense to us that have a self-righteous/holiness mindset.

1 Corinthians 1:2 (NASB)
[SUP]2 [/SUP] To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

Have been sanctified = prefect passive = which means it is in a completed state from a past event and the effects of that event are in the continuous tense. Passive = something is done to you - you are not doing it.

It takes a lot of faith for Paul to call the Corinthians "holy" , given their behavior and yet the truth is that is what and who they are in Christ in their inner man . We need to be teaching and preaching the New Covenant and the righteousness of Christ that is already in us in order to live out the life of Christ that is already in our spirits - the inner man of the new creation in Christ.

Paul taught them who they really are in Christ when they were going to the temple prostitutes and getting drunk at communion, eating all the food before the poor people could come to eat, taking each other to court, people causing divisions among the brethren...etc. Awake to righteousness and sin not, Paul says. I encourage people to find out about the New Covenant of the grace of Christ.

It is not us doing anything but staying out of the way, and letting him do his work.
This statement, we doing nothing, God goes everything, is not the gospel.

We are called to love, be obedient, to put on the whole armour of God.
Paul exhorts believers to take action, Peter and John likewise.

Rather than being inactive participants, being in the Kingdom is about taking responsibility and being worthy of our calling and our Lord. Worship is proclaiming who Christ is and seeing His work in our lives and others.

If anyone knows love, it takes a lot of action to put into effect. To love is to see a need and meet it.
It takes sacrifice, dedication, patience, endurance, hope, faith, faithfulness.

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Phil 2:6-11

We are called to choose to follow this example and live it out.

This is always a good thing to remember between living from the flesh or living from the Spirit. Compliments of FreeNChrist. This below will offend self-righteousness/holiness mindsets because it exposes one's own self-righteousness which is not the same as living from Christ's righteousness which is ours in Him..

"You may have harnessed the energy of the flesh in an otherwise quite genuine desire to honor the Lord Jesus in your life. The flesh, which has its origin in Satan, will go along with you; to survive, it is quite prepared to engage in every form of Christian activity, even though this may seem to honor Christ.

The flesh will sing in the choir, teach Sunday school, preside at a deacons’ meeting, preach from the pulpit, organize an evangelistic crusade, go to Bible college, volunteer for the mission field, and a thousand other things, all of which may in themselves be otherwise legitimate, if only it can keep its neck out of the noose. The flesh will threaten, shout, strut, domineer, sulk, plot, creep, beg, plead, or sob, whatever the situation may demand in the interests of its own survival. By any and all means it will seek to cause every Christian to live by his own strength instead of by the power and grace of the Lord Jesus, and to conclude that doing so is actually a good thing!

The characteristic of the spiritually immature is that they are unable to discern between good and evil (Hebrews 5:13-14), and the baby Christian, like the foolish Galatians, “having begun in the Spirit” still tries to be “made perfect by the flesh” (Galatians 3:3).

We must be particularly patient with those whose lack of understanding allows a genuine love for the Lord Jesus to be satisfied with, and sometimes to be quite enthusiastic about, Christian activities involving means and methods which are heavily contaminated by the flesh. These are more deserving of instruction than rebuke, for they are still in their spiritual babyhood.

.....The flesh will seek to produce the most plausible arguments in justification of its own illegitimate activities, even though these activities are only what the Bible calls “dead works” (Hebrews 6:1; 9:14) and not the “good works” which are truly the work of God. “Good works” are those that have their origin in Jesus Christ, as Christ’s activity is released through your body because you present it to Him as a living sacrifice. You do this only by faith that expresses total dependence, as opposed to Adamic independence."

Thanks, You just proved hypergrace, or grace alone, or whatever you want to call it..

Thanks, This is what we go out preaching, That God is in us, and that is what helps us gain victory over sin, Not our own righteousness, and our own abilities.

Paul taught them who they really are in Christ and the incompatibility when they were going to the temple prostitutes and getting drunk at communion, eating all the food before the poor people could come to eat, taking each other to court, people causing divisions among the brethren...etc. Awake to righteousness and sin not, Paul says. Yet paul never said they were unsaved, Paul said what you just said yourself. They are set apart (Holy) and God will change them, And he encouraged them, and chastened them to seek God and stop seeking self. And even told them how (by seeking the spirit. not the flesh)

So, I pray you believe this.. You are so close (unless you repented over the weekend and I missed it) to the gospel truth, it is there for you to grasp.

But it can just as easily fall away and you can miss out, You need to have compete faith in God. Will you? (Again, if you did not repent this weekend and I missed it? in which case, PRAISE GOD!!!!!)

This statement, we doing nothing, God goes everything, is not the gospel.
Lets make it clear. This is not peters gospel.

Peter teaches a gospel of works. So he must do something to be saved, not because he is saved.

Letc continue.

We are called to love, be obedient, to put on the whole armour of God.
Paul exhorts believers to take action, Peter and John likewise.
Yep. After we are saved, But I am not talking about what one should do AFTER THEY are saved, I am talking about what one should do TO GET SAVED.

Lets get people saved before we start teaching them what they should do after they are saved, God will take care of that with out help.

But if they are not saved, then that teaching (works) is useless to them.

Rather than being inactive participants, being in the Kingdom is about taking responsibility and being worthy of our calling and our Lord. Worship is proclaiming who Christ is and seeing His work in our lives and others.

Lets get people saved first. You have to get people saved before you can teach them works.. Your trying to teach people to enter the race without even being given the power to run.
