Instead of always going topical, why don't we look at a passage?

Here is a good one, and it even mentions sin or trespasses!

"Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,7 rooted and built up in him and established in the just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority. 11 In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. 13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by cancelling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him." Col 2:6-15

It sums up a lot about our Christian Faith!

What at speaks to you most strongly in this passage?

The part that spoke to me today as I read this passage was the circumcision of Christ. This is where some of us are ignorant of what happened to us when we were circumcised in our flesh and heart by Christ. ( Rom. 2:29 ). Christ has removed the body of the flesh and cut away our inner man of the heart created in righteousness and holiness from our flesh. This is our spiritual circumcision. We are sealed by the Holy Spirit forever in our new creation in Christ. If we can get a revelation of that truth it will help us to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Taken care of at the cross. New topic: Jesus...? :D
Some Scriptures speaking of how Jesus put away sin:

"For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." Heb 9:26

"
For
he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." 2 Cor 5:21

"Who
his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." 1 Pet 2:24

"And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and
washed us from our sins in his own blood" Rev 1:5

That would be a change in the Bible forum! lol

(Quite often "loveless arguing" would better describe it) :p
I agree..I see that it didn't take long for this thread to be defiled by a poster with a Christ-less spirit. It's best just to ignore that kind of " loveless arguing". I enjoy your posts brother as they get us to think about how do we "apply" the truths of the Lord in our life.....:)

Good stuff, and the battle with sin is with our bodies. Our soul, the inner man has been declared not guilty, sinless because of Christ's blood. Our bodies are yet to be redeemed, but they still belong to the Lord. We need to die daily to this flesh and present our bodies a sacrifice unto God, holy and acceptable which is our reasonable service.

Spiritual circumcision, I believe, is a subject few Christians understand.

Amen...He also says "Your sins and lawless deeds I will remember no more." ( Hebrews 8:7-13 )

Here is a short 9 minute video about sin in the New Covenant.

I agree...that and the mixing up of the Old Covenant with the New Covenant cause much confusion and offends the religious mindset.. Our soul in the area of our minds are being renewed to the truth that is in Christ and thus the salvation that is already in us needs to be manifested out. We need the cooperation of our unrenewed minds to get those benefits manifested in our lives while we are here on this earth.

As it is important to recognize the Trinity -
that God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit ...

so it is important to recognize the trinity
within ourselves- spirit, soul and body.

Our whole man has been justified: body, soul, spirit.

The Bible calls our bodies corrupt, vile and in need of change. They will be changed at the adoption, the day of redemption.

Romans 8:23, "And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body."

Romans 8:11, "But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."

Our whole man has been justified: body, soul, spirit.

Problem is, our "unrenewed minds" will never cooperate (Rom 8:7).

We have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16).

The mind of Christ is not the old, carnal mind filled with Bible verses. The mind of Christ receives the things of God and works them into the life of the believer.

Yeah our bodies are corrupt, but they are holy and justified.

spirit (spirit) (holy and pure fully sanctified by Christs blood)
soul & body (flesh) - (being sanctified as we walk in Christ - we await new souls and new bodies)

Yes- we have the mind of Christ when we walk in the spirit, not when we walk in the flesh.

Amen....well said.....that is a fuller way to describe between our natural mind which is in our brain and the mind of Christ. Getting our natural minds "renewed" to the truth that is in Christ aligns us with the mind of Christ which is in us in our spirit. Then we are not "double-minded" as James talks about.

Right. And we are told to "put off the old" and "put on the new". That is something we are instructed to do. It doesn't automatically happen.

Yes. A double minded man will not receive anything of the Lord. I love that section in James.

James 1:

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;

3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.

4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Amen...It happens as we behold Christ. It is by the Spirit of God that we are transformed. We participate in this transformation. The more we grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ - the more His life flows through and in us to a hurt and dying world as well as our brethren.

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (NASB)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
[SUP]18 [/SUP] But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.

Are being transformed is in the passive voice which means the Spirit of God does the changing - it is an action that happens to us - we don't do it ourselves.

We do "participate" in it by walking in the grace and knowledge of Christ that is in us. This is how we "put off and put on" Christ. The Spirit of God by His life makes things drop off of our lives like dead leaves but we must be willing to participate in the truth of what Christ has done.

Colossians 3:10, "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him(Jesus Christ) that created him:"

Colossians 3:12, "Put on therefore, as the elect of God(Jesus Christ, God's elect), holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;"

The importance of finding out what Christ has already done for us in His finished work is paramount to walking by the spirit within us. It's the revelation of who we are now in Christ - the new creation - the inner man. ...this knowledge makes our faith effective and working to walk in the newness of life that is already ours because of our union with Christ in our inner man - created in righteousness and holiness. We need to have our minds renewed to the truth that is in us in Christ now.

Philemon 1:6 (KJV)
[SUP]6 [/SUP] That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
