What you fail to realize is the inheritance part. Christians who walk after the flesh will receive no inheritance in the kingdom. There's a difference between entrance into the kingdom and inheritance. See John 3:5.

Are you telling me a Christian is incapable of stealing, lying, etc..? A Christian is incapable of walking after the flesh?

A christian doesn't steal. Your post, as I have copied above, is nothing but lies. there is no bible involved with such false doctrine. Let me put up the part of Galatians that you apparently are incapable of either reading or understanding, I'm not sure which.

One can be self/sin-focused or Christ/righteousness-focused. We choose to be Christ focused and to believe what He did for us on the cross and in our resurrection with Him with the creation of the new man.....the inner man of the heart created in Christ Jesus in righteousness and true holiness.

We identify that our "old man" died with Him and that we have been raised up in the new man in Christ now. We still have the old desires and habits and stinking thinking from our former old man in our flesh which we will not obey "its" lusts when we put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit that is in us.

Romans 8:13 (NASB)
[SUP]13 [/SUP] for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

We are told to keep our eyes on Jesus because we have died and our life is hidden with Christ in God.

Just like a sermon I heard last Sunday by a young pastor. Sin was swept under the carpet...it's becoming a taboo topic in this self loved generation.


Sin had already beaten and enslaved people, but they didn’t realize it. They thought they were good enough, until the Law came. Once they were forbidden to do and think certain ways, sin began to abound (Romans 5:20), and they became aware that they were, by nature, children of the devil (Ephesians 2:3) and needed a savior. That was the purpose and ministry of the Old Testament Law (see note 4 at Romans 3:19).

Failure to understand this truth has led many well-meaning religious people to attempt to get others to stop sinning through the proclamation of the God's laws against and punishments for,sin. That wasn't the purpose of the law.





According to these verses, sin actually revives and gains an occasion against people when the Law is used. The right use of the Law is to give knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20)



convince people that they are doomed without a Savior. The Law is powerless to overcome sin. Only the grace of God can cause people to overcome sin (Romans 6:14)

Sin is destructive which is why Christ has freed us from sin but we need to grow up in the Lord to walk this truth out by His Spirit within us. The more we understand grace = the more we will walk in His life that is in us.

Romans 6:14 (NASB)

We need to "know" that the old man died with Christ in order to understand what Christ did for us in relation to sin.

Romans 6:5-7 (NASB)
[SUP]5 [/SUP] For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection,
[SUP]6 [/SUP] knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;

We have to know that we are dead to sin in order to consider ourselves "alive" to God. We need to know about the new creation in Christ and what He has done for us in order experience what Christ bought for with His blood and life.

[SUP]11 [/SUP] Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

The importance of finding out what Christ has already done for us in His finished work is paramount to walking by the spirit within us. It's the revelation of who we are now in Christ - the new creation - the inner man. ...this knowledge makes our faith effective and working to walk in the newness of life that is already ours because of our union with Christ in our inner man - created in righteousness and holiness. We need to have our minds renewed to the truth that is in us in Christ now.

One of the MANY reasons WHY this is so important to find out what Christ has ALREADY DONE FOR US .....IS so we are not for instance trying to work at doing something that is done already.

It's like standing in the living room of your house and while standing there you say and believe "I must stand in my living room" You are already standing there. How frustrating it is to be already where you need to be but you are still trying to get there?!

Several things... that's a "full" passage of the Word... I particularly like v.14...... the record of debt with its legal demands...

That's the difficult part to turn loose... we are so ingrained to think we can "do" enough to be considered good.

Exactly., we are standing in the living room trying to get into the living room. Jesus got us there already. Is God pleased when we think WE must get ourselves INTO the living room yet again??

Go back to verse 6 and read from there.

Vs 6 – The "letter" is the Old Covenant. The "spirit" is the New Covenant.

Vs 7 – The "ministration of death" is the law which was "written and engraven in stones" and it was "glorious".

Vs 8-11 – the New Covenant is also glorious and actually exceeds in glory and because the New Covenant exceeds the glory of the Old, it excels.

Vs 13 – the glory of the Old Covenant shined in the face of Moses and he had to put a veil over his face (Ex 34:29-35).

Vs 14 – when we read the OT with the understanding that it points to Christ, the veil is removed so that we understand what is written.

Vs 15 – those who do not see Christ will have a veil on their heart.

Vs 16 – when we turn our hearts to the Lord, the veil is taken away and Scripture opens up.

Vs 17 – Liberty is found in the Lord.

Vs 18 – to behold with an open face is to not have the veil on our hearts. We see the glory of the Lord in Scripture and we are changed into the same image. It is a journey that lasts our whole lifetime.





Yes, God does change us and it is not something we do ourselves. The only thing we are instructed to do is "put off" and "put on". In 2 Cor 3:16, this is described as turning our hearts to the Lord.




Amen, we are "repenting" every day of our lives as believers.... having our minds change to agree with what God says and not what we first believed. This is about having our minds renewed putting off the old and putting on the new. Repenting is not a negative thing, it is a pretty great thing. Because of grace this is possible. In Christ we are dealt with as sons learning and growing and not condemned with the world.

Many refuse to trust only in the blood of Jesus. They still think they must work for salvation. We are told to work out our own salvation, not work FOR our salvation:

"
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Philippians 2:12

Amen, Jesus knew we needed the Holy Spirit to help and be with us forever. And we know Him and He lives with us and in us and we can follow the new commandments of love and of faith because of Him in our new man. We need Him.

Notice, the works of the flesh in Galatians 5 Paul warns the believer about. The believer can get caught up in these things if he strays away from Scripture and surrounds himself with worldly things. Notice the difference, however, in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11:

Paul names them as people, not works of the flesh. He names them as idolaters, adulterers, drunkards, thieves, etc...
A Christian that steals is not a thief. A Christian is a Christian. A Christian can rebel and get drunk, but a Christian cannot be a drunkard. A Christian is a Christian. Paul says "such were some of you." However, a Christian can get caught up walking after the flesh and not after the Spirit and is capable of any works of the flesh, but we will never be considered one of those people because "we are washed, we are sanctified, and we are glorified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God."




Amen John146, A very important thing to remember because NOW we are sons, "and such WERE some of you." But since THEN we have been made RIGHTEOUS IN CHRIST .....not made righteous by ourselves, but made righteous IN CHRIST BY CHRIST. What we once WERE is no more. Now we are sons.

We've talked about it. You have been told countless times how to avoid it, how scripture tells you to live, and you have made your choice. You choose to ignore scripture and continue to sin. You continue to find an excuse to walk in the flesh and pretend you're saved, altho you sin daily. Someone that sins daily and/or knows and believes they will sin again is not saved. You are walking in the flesh and if you walk in the flesh you can't please God.
Tell me, right here, if you believe that people that don't please God will go to heaven.
Nah! Maybe that pitiful, weak guy, Paul, continued to struggle with sin. But not us "REAL" Christians.

Notice that in Matt 7:19-23..Jesus said "I never knew you "...these people were not believers...( Jesus never said " I used to know you once...He said I NEVER knew you at all...).

God's will is that man be saved. Ye must be born again to enter into the kingdom of God.

I have found at least 7 things about doing the will of God on this earth now that we are in Christ.

1) That we have eternal life in Christ - John 6:40

2) That we be filled with the Holy Spirit - Eph 5:16-21

3) That we live a pure, disciplined lifestyle - 1 Thess 4:3-4 ( we live out that holiness that is already in us in our new man ..created in Christ in righteousness and holiness )

4) That we are rejoicing in the Lord, praying without ceasing, and grateful - 1 Thess 5:16-18

5) That we be a law-abiding citizen - 1 Peter 2:13-16

6) That we believe and influence others to believe - 2 Peter 3:9

7) That we commit ourselves to God and other believers - 2 Cor 8:5

According to the works-based salvation mindset
...if someone is not joyful one day or didn't pray for a couple of days...or was not grateful for a day or so and they died..then they would go to hell because they didn't do " the will of God"..( see #4 above )....how foolish this nonsense is.

What about #5 above...if you speed and crash your car and die..you go to hell because you were not doing "the will of God"...again the complete foolishness of people that say..not doing the will of God are not
saved without factoring in the finished work of Christ.

The "doing of the will of God" for salvation is to believe on Christ and it is by grace through faith only - no works. Eph 2:8-9

The saint who rests in Christ and in His finished work is the will of God and what appears to be his free choices are actually God's will for him. It's loving God because you know His love for you, doing what is inside of you under His influence. Phil 2:13

We have an adversary who prowls and seeks those he may devour. And sometimes we do not withstand and end up being drawn away. That does not mean the believer "continues to find an excuse to walk in the flesh and pretend [they're] saved". It means the believer stumbled and fell. The believer is still a believer even though he/she stumbled.
