I have noticed that many Christians (I'll take them at their word on that until they prove otherwise) come here looking for biblical input. I suspect many don't know how to use a concordance, even online. I wonder how much of the Bible some of them have read. It's a bit of laziness sometimes: avoiding the hard work of prayer and study, and getting a quick answer instead.

As for seeking advice, I don't see anything wrong with asking a question and getting some feedback. However, the content of the feedback should be considered carefully by the person asking the question, and not simply taken at face value. There's that homework thing again though. ;)

I just go to the drug store and buy the tingly itchy skin pills. They're always near the cash register with the red spot on your forehead pills.

The biggest danger in asking for ANY advice on the internet is that you will probably get it.

Yeah, there might be two or three of us who don't think we are at least one of those, if not all of them.

Okay, so, if I ever experience this, I will now know what to do. I will hold my breath as I get diabetes because I have stopped showering because I don't believe in soap.

Then, I will die.

Pretty much sums it up.

I actually do have a few examples, I used to supervise a website that was frequented by children. I recall one time someone asked the name of a game the Iroquois Indians used to play, and they were answered with "Boogly boogly boo". I wanted to delete the answer but for all I knew that was the actual name, so I had to do some research first. It was kind of funny, sitting there Googling "Iroquois Indians boogly boogly boo".

Perhaps they trust us more than they trust counselors, therapists, and doctors. Or maybe they ask us because it doesn't cost them anything.

Maybe because they think some people here really care and want to help, although most people don't really care but they have other intentions.

This one time, I was playing a game online. Ah, the days when I knew next to nothing about computers...

I was in the in-game chat rooms, and had asked a technical question about my computer. Someone in chat responded with some guidelines. I replied, "Cool, thanks! I'll give that a try."

In my naivete - bless it - I took his advice and ran the command lines he told me to try... AND FORMATTED MY HARD DRIVE. Thankfully my dad knew how to reinstall Windows at that time, so I was back up and running in a day or two.

You should have asked for second opinion first.

Hubby was on Social Security Disability before he hit Social Security's retirement age. We didn't know if the amount of money he'd get per month would change, so I joined Yahoo Answers to ask. The question landed on "People with Disabilities" board, (Because it's just not good PCism to call us "disabled people." I'm not kidding.)

I got 15 answers. 7 said he'd get less, 7 said he'd get more, and one person said it's the same amount. Fortunately, I trusted the one who said it was the same amount since her signature said she worked for Social Security for over three decades before becoming disabled. AND, she alone was right. lol
